I shove aside the coats and boots. ?I?m going t o get you!?
Q u i c k as a rat, she scoots t h r o u g h m y legs and r u n s

A m i comes out, rubbing her eyes. Sana runs behind Ami,
where I can?t get her.
?What's going o n out here?? says A m i .
Sana says, ?Rubina?s t r y i n g to get me!?
A m i puts her hands on her hips. ?Are you t r y i n g to get
your l i t t l e sister again??
?She ate my lollipop! The greedy thing! She ate it!?
A m i says, ?For shame! It?s just a lollipop! Can?t y o u share
w i t h y o u r little sister??
I w a n t to cry, but I don?t.
Sana runs to the fridge and brings back the triangle
stuck to the stick. ?Look! I didn?t eat all o f your lollipop!
I left the triangle for you!?
?See?? says Ami. ?She d i d n ' t eat all o f it. She's
sharing w i t h you! Go ahead. Take the triangle?
So 1 have to take it.
Then one day Sana comes home waving an i n v i t a t i o n .
?Ami! I?ve been invited to a birthday party! There's going t o
be games and toys and cake and ice cream! Can I go??
O u r l i t t l e sister M a r y a m screams, ?I wanna go too!?
Sana says, ?No! I can?t take her! She?s not invited!?
A m i says, ?Well . . . it?s o n l y fair. You went to Rubina's
friend?s party, now Rubina and Maryam can go to your
friend?s party.?
I say, ?Leave m e o u t o f it.?
A m i says, ?Fine then, you have to take M a r y a m . ?
N o w it?s Sana?s t u r n t o beg and plead. A m i w o n ' t listen.
Sana's b e g g i n g so h a r d she's c r y i n g , b u t s t i l l A m i w o n ' t
listen.
I could j u s t watch her have to take Maryam. I could just
let her make a fool o f herself at that party. I could just let her
n o t be i n v i t e d to any more parties, but something makes me
tap A m i on the shoulder.
?What??
?Don?t make Sana take Maryam to the party.?
?No?? says A m i .
?
? N o , I say.
Ami thinks for a moment then says, ?
,
?Okay.
So Sana gets to go by herself.
After the party, I hear a knock
on my door. |
?What do you want?? I ask Sana.
?Here.? She hands me a big green
lollipop. ?This is for you.?
?Thanks,? I say.
After that we're friends.
