“The Hares
and

the Frogs”

The Hares persecuted by the other beasts and afraid even
of their own shadows, had a council to decide what to do. The
conclusion they came to was to die rather than live on with this
shame. So, they went to a pond, determined to drown themselves.

But when they were just about to jump,
some Frogs who had been sitting on a water
lily, startled by the noise they made, rushed to
the deep water for safety. “Look,” cried a
Hare, “there are creatures who are even
afraid of us, so things are not so bad, after
all. We don’t need to die anymore.”

“Androcles
and

the Lion”

A slave named Androcles once escaped from his
master and fled to the forest. As he was wandering about
there he came upon a lion lying down moaning and
groaning. At first he turned to flee, but finding that the
lion did not pursue him, he turned back and went up to
him.

As he come near, the lion put out his paw, which was all
swollen and bleeding and found that a huge thorn had got into it,
and was causing all the pain. He pulled out the torn and bound up
the paw of the lion, who was soon able to rise and lick the hand of
Androcles like a dog.

Then the lion took Androcles to his cave, and every
day used to bring him meat from which to live But
shortly afterwards both Androcles and the lion were
captured. The slave was sentenced to be thrown to the
lion, after the latter had been kept without food for
several days.

The Emperor and all his court came to see the
spectacle and Androcles was led out into the middle of
the arena. Soon the lion was let loose from his den and
rushed bounding and roaring toward its victim, but as
soon as he come near to Androcles he recognized his
friend, and fawned upon him, and licked his hands like a
friendly dog.

The Emperor, surprised at his, summoned Androcles to him,
who told him the whole story. Whereupon the slave was pardoned
and freed, and the lion let loose to his native forest.

beanstalk”

Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack. He lived with
his mother. They were very poor. All they had was a cow. One
morning, Jack’s mother told Jack to take their cow to market and
sell her. On the way, Jack met a man. He gave Jack some magic
beans for the cow. Jack took the beans and went back home.
When Jack’s mother saw the beans she was very angry. She threw
the beans out of the window.

The next morning, Jack looked out of the
window. There was a giant beanstalk. He went
outside and started to climb the beanstalk.
He climbed up to the sky through the clouds.
Jack saw a beautiful castle. He went inside.
Jack heard a voice. “Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum!” Jack
ran into a cupboard.

An enormous giant came into the room and sat down. On the
table there was a hen and a golden harp. “Lay!” said the giant.
The hen laid an egg. It was made of gold. “Sing!” said the giant.
The harp began to sing.

The giant fell and crashed to the ground. Nobody ever saw him
again. With the golden eggs and the magic harp, jack and his
mother lived happily ever after.

“The Shepherd Boy
and

The Wolf”

There was once a young Shepherd Boy who tended
his sheep at the foot of a mountain near a dark forest.
It was rather lonely for him all day, so he thought upon a
plan by which he could get a little company and some
excitement.

He rushed down towards the village calling out Wolf, Wolf.
And the villagers came out to meet him, and some of them
stopped with him for a consideration time. This pleased the boy so
much that a few days afterwards he tried the same trick, and
again the villagers came to his help.

boy was again deceiving them, and nobody stirred to come to his
help. So the wolf made a good meal off the boy’s flock.

There is an old man named Geppetto. He has no son and is alone.
One day, he makes a puppet from wood. Then surprisingly, the
puppet starts moving. “Your name is Pinocchio. You will be my good
son. And you must go to school. Will you promise me?” “Yes, I will.
I will be a good boy and go to school.”

On the way to school, Pinocchio hears
someone call out. “The funniest puppet show!
Hurry up! The show will be starting soon.”
At that moment, Pinocchio forgets his promise
to Geppetto.Pinocchio exchanges his books
for a ticket and runs to the puppet show.
During the show, the puppets call Pinocchio.
“Pinocchio, come here! Come with us!”

You ruined my show!” The angry owner takes Pinocchio and locks
him in a cage. Pinocchio cries in a cage. “Help me! Help me!”

and longer. “Your nose tells me when you lie. But if you become a
good boy, You will turn into a real boy. Will you promise me?”
“Yes, I will!”Then, Pinocchio’s nose gets smaller again. The Blue
Fairy helps Pinocchio go back home.

On his way home, he meets a fox and a cat.
“I’m going to Toyland.” “Why don’t you come with
me?” “No, I don’t want to go. I have to go home.
My daddy is waiting for me.”

his mind. He jumps on the wagon. Finally, they arrive at Toyland.
Pinocchio gets very excited. But he doesn’t notice himself
changing. He becomes a donkey with the tail and big ears.
“Oh, no! Help me! I don’t want to be a donkey!”

his daddy in a small boat. “Daddy! Where are you? Is there anyone
who has seen my daddy?” But with a big storm Pinocchio sinks
deep into the sea.

Soon, a big whale swallows him. Pinocchio walks inside the whale.
He sees a light and an old man in a ship. “Daddy!” “Oh, my son!”
They hug each other. “How can we get out of here?” Suddenly, Pinocchio
has a good idea. “Let’s start a fire and make smoke. Then the whale will
sneeze us out.” When the whale feels the fire and smoke, he sneezes and
lets them out. “A-choo!”

Pinocchio really regrets his behavior.
He really feels sorry to his father, Geppetto.
So the Blue Fairy turns Pinocchio into a real boy
and they live happily ever after.
