MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings from the The Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea which was officially established on
the 5th of February 1991 by the International Association of Lions Clubs. Lion Rohn-Napa
Kanjanayothee was the Charter President of this Club, that started with 21Charter Members,
some who are still with us today.
Since then our club has completed many meaningful projects to help the people in need. The
Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea is extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to twin
with some of the finest Lion Clubs of the world, that we call our Sister Clubs. The Lions Club of
George Town (Malaysia), the Lions Club of Singapore West (Singapore) and the Lions Club of
Nagao (Japan). We would also like to thank the Lions Club of Urawa Nichi (Japan) for their
friendship over the years.
Our Clubs 30th Charter Anniversary celebration would have been celebrated in February 2021
but had to be postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic outbreak in 2020. We are pleased now to
be able to celebrate during this year 2022.
Our Club has been associated with many projects to help the underprivileged and needy people
in Phuket. We are especially honored and proud to be associated with and Founder member of
our most important project over the years being The Phuket Sunshine Village.
In the aftermath of the Tsunami that hit Phuket on 26th December 2004, members of the Lions
Club of Phuket Andaman Sea decided to be involved in a longer term project to help the victims
of the tragedy. Helping Children in need became the main objective of the Club, and the idea of
creating a village slowly became to grow. The fund raising began in earnest and the response
was overwhelming. The Phuket Sunshine Village Foundation was formed by the Lions Club
Phuket Andaman Sea jointly with Childwatch Phuket to bring the project to life. The Foundation
received the support of thousands of donors from around the globe and was subsequently able
to buy its own land in Koh Sirae, an area that was particularly hit by the disaster. The Club has
continued to help and support the Phuket Sunshine Village over the years and will continue to
do so.
During the Covid 19 outbreak the Club had donated food and other goods to help those in
various areas of Phuket who were affected by Pandemic. We have also been active in support of
local Hospitals with materials and equipment.
We have been involved with the support of annual activities such as the Peace Poster
competition and Encyclopedia Projects.
It has been an Honor and a privilege to be President of the Lions Club Of Phuket Andaman Sea
for the past three years and will continue to support the Clubs efforts in the Future.

President’s Message
Lions Club of Phuket Pearl has served the Phuket community for 30 years. I am proud to be a
Lion serve our community. Lions Club of Phuket Pearl is particularly focusing on children in
need, disabled children, and people as well as the environment through education and
conservation.
The last two years has been challenging with the global Covid-19 pandemic. Thousands of people
were affected both mentally, health wise and economically. Our club has provided food support
to more than thousand in Patong, Rawai and Chalong areas in Phuket.
We launched the environment project “Waste management” with students, staff, and teachers at
Ban Ao Nam Bo School. They received training in sound waste management practices with aim
for them to share their knowledge to classmates and local community. This project will also
generate income for the school from recycling.
We also faced the biggest flooding in Phuket in 20 years. Collaborating with the local authorities
our club provide food pack for flood relieve around Chalong area.
Furthermore, we supported “Phuket Sunshine Village” to re-build their sport facilities. This will
allow the children do sports and improve their health.
Every year our club work on our signature project Sight First. We visit local schools and conduct
eye screening to detect children with reduced vision. We then provide the children identified
with eyeglasses tailored for perfect vision. Our sister club in England Lions Club of Fairlop has
donate the frames.
Together with our sister clubs in Phuket we do joint projects such as Thai Royal Encyclopedia
project and Peace Poster contest.
It is a privilege and honour that my fellow Lions elected me as President of Lions Club of
Phuket Pearl 2022-23. Our team is as strong as ever and we will keep our lion spirit all
over us. As Lions We Serve the world and local communities with pride, compassion, and
kindness. “Together we serve” and “Together We Can.”
