5 APPRECIATION First of all, I am grateful to God because, with His abundance and grace, I was able to complete my assignment. I would also like to say a million thanks to Mrs. Baina Walter Meden, the lecturer of the subject PAKK2262D, English Early Childhood Educators, who has provided guidance in completing this assignment. I would also like to express my deepest appreciation to the Al Hadanah Islamiah Kindergarten, where I am tasked with giving devotion, guiding the children, and producing people who are knowledgeable and of noble character, as stated in the National Education Philosophy, namely Puan Asma' Binti Abdul, the head teacher of Al Hadanah Islamic Kindergarten, who gave me the space to carry out my duties. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for their encouragement and moral support in completing this task. Finally, I also express my gratitude and thanks once again to all the parties involved who gave me ideas for completing my assignment, directly or indirectly.


6 1.0 INTRODUCTION Early childhood education is a nurturing process in the early stages of a child's life, from birth to the age of eight. Early childhood education is the beginning of children's academic, social, and emotional development. During the PAKK process, children also gain skills such as cognitive and social development, reading, writing, and counting. The Malaysian Ministry of Education also strives to strengthen the use of the English language. In the policy of the Malaysian Education Development Plan 2013–2025, the focus is to dignify the Malay language and strengthen the English language in order to produce a society that can communicate effectively as well as be able to compete at the international level. The main purpose of the Ministry of Education in strengthening the English language is to enable the exploration of various knowledge and to increase competition at the national and international levels. In addition, English is also an important communication tool that must be mastered well and effectively. Nevertheless, there are challenges faced by preschool teachers in the use of English. Among the challenges faced are the lack of training among teachers, insufficient resources and materials to be used in the classroom for English subjects, and low mastery of the English language among teachers. Nevertheless, various efforts have been implemented to improve the mastery of the English language among teachers. Among the efforts that have been implemented is that teachers need to follow programs or training in the use of the English language in the classroom. The Malaysian Ministry of Education has also implemented the use of English in the classroom. This effort is one of the methods that helps improve English language proficiency among students and teachers.


7 2.0 TEACHING AIDS The use of teaching aids is one of the most important elements in delivering learning content. With the availability of teaching aids, this can help teachers and students understand what the teacher wants to convey. These teaching aids are also one of the methods that can help improve the level of education and understanding of students, and through this BBM, learning objectives can also be achieved. Based on the national preschool curriculum standard (KSPK, revised in 2017), the production of teaching aids is the cornerstone of learning found in early childhood education. One of the benefits of using BBM is that it can produce more creative and competitive students. As we know, BBM is built using various resources and is colorful, and it can help students use existing ideas or new ideas in BBM produced by teachers. In addition, using BBM can increase students' interest in the teaching and learning process. With this BBM, teaching and learning activities will no longer feel boring but more enjoyable. Teaching aids used by teachers can help students explore the aids. The meaning here is that the materials used in refining the BBM are materials that are commonly seen by students, such as bottles, paper, and so on, that can be recycled. Therefore, students can explore teaching aids, such as in terms of safety, as well as how to use teaching aids created by teachers.


8 3.0 FACTORS IN THE SELECTION OF TEACHING AID MATERIALS The teaching aids that I produced are suitable for use because they can attract children's interest in teaching and learning activities for the subject of English. These children like objects that have a prominent, unique color and something that is easy for them to understand. For this reason, I produced this teaching aid because it has a prominent color that can attract children's attention during the teaching and learning process in the classroom. In addition, these teaching aids are also easy for children to understand during the teaching process, making it easier for children to understand the content of the lesson by using this BBM. Next, the reason why I chose to produce this BBM is because, with this BBM, it can create a more enjoyable atmosphere, attract students' interest in topics learned in class, and improve children's communication skills as well as their social skills. This is because during the teaching and learning process using this BBM, the questioning skills session will take place, which indirectly can improve children's communication and social skills between friends and teachers. In addition, the materials selected are safe to use when carrying out activities in the classroom. Teachers do not need to worry about the safety of children; the materials used do not harm children. In addition, among the factors in the selection of BBM, the material are easily available and the cost is cheap. As we know, producing BBM also requires a high cost and requires a long time. But what I found is that the BBM I produce has a low cost, and the materials used are cheap and easily available. Among the materials I use to produce my BBM are boxes, glue guns, A4 paper, laminate paper and using Canva to produce interesting videos and pictures.

12 4.2 SUITABILITY OF ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN 4.2.1 Audio and video. The use of audio and video can attract children's attention, which is done through the animation found in the video. The use of interesting audio can help attract children's interest in imparting knowledge. In addition, by using this audio and video, children can interact more effectively. The use of audio and video is also very important in playing an important role in listening. These audios and videos can help improve children's understanding of non-verbal cues such as facial expressions and body language. In addition to helping in cognitive development, something that children hear repeatedly can help improve their memory skills. For example, can the sound they repeatedly hear help them know what it is? or a song they hear repeatedly, children will quickly memorize the song. 4.2.2 Flashcard Animal. When the teacher uses flashcards and shows them to the children, the children will form two stimuli, namely through vision and through auditory and speech stimulation. From where? from the name of the picture. There is a fact that says that the right brain of humans develops quite rapidly between the ages of 0 and 6, according to Doctor Maria Montessori and Doctor Makoto Shichida. Therefore, the use of flash cards can train the ability of the right brain to remember pictures and vocabulary. Therefore, the use of this flash card needs to be applied from the beginning of the baby's life. The purpose of the Flash Card technique is to train the ability of the right brain to remember pictures and words so that the child's vocabulary and reading ability can be trained and improved since infancy. Apart from cognitive development, children's language development can also be affected by the use of flashcards. Because the flash card contains words, when the teacher says the word out loud, the child will automatically repeat the word that was mentioned earlier. In this way, children are able to stimulate the development of their language.


13 4.3 STEPS TO PRODUCE TEACHING MATERIALS LISTENING AND SPEAKING SKILLS Teaching and learning English also involves listening and speaking skills. Children will hear English words in various ways, for example, through singing, watching children's stories in English, and through the environment. When these seniors hear a word every day in English, they will use it repeatedly. This can help children master the English language. Therefore, in teaching English by listening, they will remember the words in English, and they will transfer the words they hear through their daily conversations, either with their friends or their family. For this listening and speaking activity, I have made a video called "LISTEN AND GUESS." Below are the steps to make the video. STEP 1: Choose an interesting design. To make this video, I used the Canva platform. First of all, I look for a design that is interesting and suitable for the video I will create. STEP 2: Choose the appropriate background. After getting an interesting design, I continued by looking for a suitable background for the video.


14 STEP 3: An interesting element. In order to attract the interest and attention of the students so that they continue to focus on following this activity, I will add various elements that are interesting and appropriate to the theme of this video. STEP 4: Audio elements. The audio I use is my own voice and the sound of the animal that the child needs to hear, and then the child will guess the name of the animal. Then I will transparency my picture, and only the voice and the sound of the animal will be heard. Children will repeat back the sounds and names of the animals they hear.


15 STEP 5: Next is the text element. For this text element, I added the name of the animal that the children have to guess after hearing the sound of the animal. same steps for all selected animal types. STEP 6: Download and upload on the YouTube platform. The last step is to download the video from Canva and re-upload it to the YouTube platform.

With the method I chose, this can help children recognize and sound the letters of the alphabet in the phonics method and then join the sounds of the letters to form simple words such as mat, pan, mop, and sun. In addition, it can help increase children's confidence in recognizing the sounds of the letters of the alphabet as well as simple words in the English language. by using the phonic method. Using this method can foster children's interest in reading because, at this stage, the teacher will introduce the children to the sound of the letters first, then blend the letters to form a word, and from the word, the teacher will build a simple sentence, for example, 'This is a sun'. For this level, the teacher will guide the children to read repeatedly using the same words and sentences.


19 5.2 STEPS TO PRODUCE TEACHING MATERIALS In order to carry out teaching and learning for the subject of English, I have produced teaching aids for reading skills called "Read and Match." In the production of this BBM, I focus on phonics. First, I will introduce the students to the sound of each letter of the alphabet, and then I will blend simple words and use pictures so that the children remember the words and pictures. Next, I will explain one by one the steps I took in the production of teaching aids called "Read and Match board." STEP 1: Prepare materials and purchase materials if necessary Provide the necessary materials to make teaching aids, namely used boxes, laminate paper, glue guns, color spray polystyrene, and pictures I took from Canva. All the ingredients I need are easily available and have a low cost. Referring to the picture below, these are the materials that I use to produce my aids for carrying out activities in class. Soon, I will explain one by one how I make these aids. STEP 2: Cut the box to the needed size The next step is to cut the used box to the size I need using scissors and a cutter.


20 STEP 3: Color the boxes Next, I will use gray color spray to color the box to attract children Step 4: Cut the Polystyrene I also use polystyrene in the production of my teaching aids. I will cut the polystyrene using a cutter according to the size of the picture I have printed, like the diagram below. Step 5: Print the picture and cut the picture. The next step is to print the picture from Canva, laminate it, cut it, and stick it on the polystyrene using a glue gun.


21 Step 6: Decorating Teaching Materials This is the last step in producing materials for this activity, which is decorating BBM. I will stick the laminated picture on the box that has been sprayed with gray. Next, I decorated the BBM with a cup and velcro tape, like in the diagram below. 5.3 THE COST TO MAKE THE MATERIAL. In the production of this material, I do not incur any costs because all the materials I use are used and existing materials.


22 5.4 DESCRIPTION OF MATERIAL USE 1. The teacher will prepare the necessary materials before starting the activity with the students. 2. Next, the students will listen to instructions on how to do this activity. How to use this material is very easy. The students have to name the picture that the teacher provides, then find the word representing the picture, and then blend the words using the phonics method.. 3. Before the teacher hands over this activity to the students, the teacher will show how to carry out this activity first. For example, the student says the word "sun," then the student has to find the letters that make up the word "sun," and then the student has to blend the word like this, sound out each letter using the ( s u n ) phonics method, and after blending, say the word repeatedly. The same thing needs to be done to find and form words on each given picture 4. After seeing and hearing the instructions from the teacher, the students will carry out this activity in turns. These are teaching aids that I use in carrying out activities with my students in the English subject under the subtopic of reading skills. I use the phonics approach in simple word-reading activities. Students will know the sounds of the letters of the alphabet, and then they will read simple words using the phonics method. Then I developed these words into simple sentences for the next reading activity. For example, if "this is a mop," the sentence 'this is a..' is repeated, only the name of the object is changed.

26 STEP 4 09.20AM09.30AM CLOSING Teaching aid: sing song jolly phonics song Before ending the class today, the teacher and students will sing songs jolly phonics song. 6.1 SUITABILITY OF ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN To implement the teaching and learning process in the English subject under the subtopic of writing The teacher will provide teaching aids to attract attention and provide a fun experience at the beginning of writing skills for children. There are two teaching aids that I have prepared, one of which is a writing box and the other a dot-connecting board. For this activity, connecting the dots is very important for children's hand and eye coordination skills. This activity can also improve children's writing skills. While this writing box activity can develop our fine motor skills, it can also use sand, rice, paint, salt, etc. I will explain the steps on how to make this activity material. 6.1.1 Writing Box For this writing box activity, it is more multi-sensory, developing sense of touch such as perfecting hand and finger movement. It is very important to help children learn to write correctly. This activitiy, became be fun to children, and more effective too.sensory stimulation has been shown to improve mental cognition and memory retention. 6.1.2 “dot-connecting board This exercise is important in training children's hand and finger movements; it can also train hand-eye coordination, which makes the learning session more interesting and effective.


27 6.2 STEPS TO PRODUCE TEACHING MATERIALS WRITING BOX Step 1: Prepare the necessary ingredients. The teacher will prepare the materials needed to make a writing box, such as a used box, flour, and a glue gun. Only use a small amount of material in making this activity. STEP 2: cut the box according to the required size. Prepare the box according to the required size only

In this part, all the equipment that has been needed, such as pictures and dotted patterns, will be attached to the box using Solatep. To make it easier for the teacher to erase the pen marker during the activity, this board can be used repeatedly for senior and child activities. on the top of the box, has been sprayed gray, to increase the appeal of children. Next, this board will be decorated with the words "PRE WRITING ACTIVITIES" on the top.
