What Makes a World Record?

A world record needs to be MEASURABLE and have only one
QUANTIFIABLE, which means only ONE SUPERLATIVE.
It also needs to be BREAKABLE; other people will want to try and
break it.
The most important characteristic of a world record is that it has to be
INTERESTING to as many people as possible.

“Go higher with your dreams.” Each

SETTING A RECORD Record
#2
FOR A GOOD CAUSE

588 people participated in the Public Domain

world’s biggest clay sculpting class
with teacher Wanda Goodman at KidsFest in
Centreville Amusement Park on Toronto Island,
Ontario, on July 5, 2014. The event was in
memory of Eden Worth, one of her students,
who died from cancer at the age of 12.
Goodman wanted to raise money for the local
children’s hospital.

Public Domain  Goodman gave the participants instructions to
sculpt elephants because elephants never
forget and most of all, because they were
Eden’s favourite animal. The participants used
their hands, clay and different modelling tools to
make their sculptures. It turned out to be a great
family event.

SNOWMEN IN HUDSON Record
#3
Diane Lewis needs to find 1,300 carrots
before this Saturday. And maybe 2,600 Public Domain
buttons, or any other appropriate
substitute for a snowman’s set of eyes.

Together with the town of Hudson [Québec],
Lewis will be trying to break the Guinness
World Record on Saturday for most
snowmen built in one hour, set at 1,299 by
Ottawa less than two weeks ago.

Around 11 a.m. on Saturday, horns will blare
at two separate locations in Hudson and
from that point on participants will have
exactly 60 minutes to build 1,300 snowmen,
roughly 22 per minute. “It doesn’t cost any
money, or require much of an
explanation. It’s something positive that
everyone can get out and do together,” Lewis
said of the idea.

The only official rules surrounding the event Public Domain
are that each and every snowman must be
completed with a carrot nose and two eyes, Word Box
and that by exactly 12 p.m., all participants
step away from their creations for an official to blare: to produce a loud strident noise
