The
goal
for
this
project
is
to
first
create
your
own
parabola
with
unique
features.
Then,
you
will
find
two
examples
of
a
parabola
in
real
life.
After,
using
GeoGebra
you
will
try
to
find
an
equation
that
closely
approximates
the
shape
of
one
of
your
real
life
parabolas
you
have
chosen.
For
this
project,
you
will
be
creating
a
poster
that
goes
through
the
step-‐by-‐step
procedure
needed
to
draw
the
graph
of
a
quadratic
equation.
Directions:
Create
your
own
parabola.
Find
2
real
life
examples
of
real
life
parabolas.
Create
a
close
approximation
of
one
of
the
real
life
parabolas
you
have
chosen.

Using
your
quadratic
equation,
you
must
complete
the
following
task:
1. Before
creating
your
poster,
you
must
find
the
basic
information
about
the
graph
of
your
quadratic
equation.
You
must
find
the
information
listed
below:
a. Does
the
parabola
open
upward
or
downward?
How
can
this
be
determined
from
the
equation?
b. What
is
the
equation
for
you
axis
of
symmetry?
c. What
are
the
coordinates
of
the
vertex
of
your
parabola?
d. What
is
the
maximum/minimum
value
of
your
parabola
and
how
was
it
determined?
e. What
is
the
y-‐intercept
of
your
parabola?
f. What
are
the
roots/zeros/x-‐intercepts
of
your
parabola?
i. Solve
by
factoring
g. How
do
you
find
other
points
on
the
parabola?
h. Using
the
vertex,
put
the
quadratic
equation
in
Standard
form.
i. Graph
the
parabola
on
your
graph
paper.
2. Find
two
examples
of
a
parabola
in
a
real
life
setting.
3. Create
a
quadratic
equation
that
close
approximates
one
of
the
real
life
parabolas
you
have
chosen.
4. Create
your
poster
board.
a. Everything
you
have
found
must
be
displayed
on
your
poster
board
b. Creativity
will
be
a
HUGE
factor
of
your
grade.
