The diversity of organisms,whether microorganisms,animals or plants is known as biodiversity.Biodiversity exists as a result of diversity of habita and climate.Different organisms have different chracteristics which enable them to adapt and thrive indepently in their respective habitats. The Importance of Biodiversity Sources of food Animals and plants supply food to humans. Balance in nature Cycle of nutrients,pollination and interaction between organisms create balance in nature.

Effective Biodiversity Management Biodiversity can be maintained by : Banning the killing or trade of endemic and endangered animals and plants through the Wildlife Protection Act 1972. Protecting the habitat through creationg national parls,marine parks,forest reserves and wildlife sanctuaries.
