DeEtta will share language and examples associated with best prac-
tices in developing cultural competence in schools and our commu-
nities, from creating a compelling vision to incorporating skills in
the classroom. Concepts shared will enhance individual perspective
and have been effectively used in other Illinois school districts to en-
gage staff, students, and community members. Superintendents who attend this ses-
sion will have shared language and tools that could be pivotal in facilitating cross-
district collaboration.

OPTIONAL MONDAY AFTERNOON IDI PROFILE SESSION
LCS is excited to provide a very individualized quality opportunity for Fall Confer-
ence participants as an enhancement to DeEtta Jones’ cultural competence workshop.
Those who wish to select this extended afternoon session have the opportunity to
take the cross-cultural assessment. Participants will have a one hour individual ses-
sion to discuss and personalize the results. Then, the extended session on Monday of
the conference will delve deeper into next step leadership planning.
The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) is the premier cross-cultural as-

ganizations to build intercultural competence to achieve international and domestic
diversity and inclusion goals and outcomes.
