  Technology Planning and Policy

Myra Burden, Director



The newest unit in I&T brings 20 plus combined years of experience in the area of project management.
There are 6 employees and 3 consultants that currently make up this unit: Myra Burden (Director), Lois Greene, Maria
Wagner, Robert Sanders, Jeanine Gendron, and Daisy Rodriguez; Consultants: Tony Nonog, Eddora Redwine‐Farrel &
Randolph Dukes.

Technology Planning and Policy (TPP) is responsible for planning the roadmaps of various technology initiatives
throughout the District. One of its goals is to assist in overcoming obstacles and hurdles that may be encountered during
the duration of a task. Director Myra Burden says, “To make sure the project doesn’t lose momentum and that everyone is
staying on track, it’s important to rally the teams together – so that people aren’t working in silos to achieve a common
goal.” There are many active projects this team is currently managing, and ranking at the top of the list are:

 Implementing the Learning Management System (in conjunction with the Academics Department).

As with any project, managing and measuring are imperative for accountability and proof of progression. Each director in
I&T has projects that TPP helps to implement. Each project manager logs project details into Eclipse (a software used to
help track projects throughout their lifecycle), so that at any given time, they can see their initiatives come to fruition. At a
glance however, in Myra’s of ice hanging on the wall, is a colored coded whiteboard that shows all on‐going projects. The
colors indicate completion and areas of concern, if any.

The staff shared that they are sure that in the beginning, people were not quite sure as to what their purpose was in I&T.
Myra says, “…it’s sort of like The Wizard of Oz, there are several people traveling to the same place—they have one
common goal. My staff and I are like Dorothy. We put together a plan on how to get there, and together we achieve what
we set out to do—successfully.” Myra and her staff are located on the 2nd loor. Stop by and witness for yourselves the
amazing things TPP is doing for our district!

I&T CIO Advisory Council

The CIO Advisory Council consists of two members from each department within Information & Technology (I&T). The

Council’s mission is to receive input from their departments, and share this information with the Council to
develop strategies for improvement within I&T. Council members will be elected every 6 months, and cannot serve more

than 2 terms.
