Sabrina and Selina Soto are the dynamic and visionary founders of Spotlight Theatre Co., established in 2021. With their shared passion for the performing arts and a deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of theater, the Soto sisters embarked on a journey to create an organization that would make a lasting impact on the arts community in the Rio Grande Valley. Having grown up in the region, Sabrina and Selina witnessed the immense talent and potential of local artists who often struggled to find adequate opportunities and artistic growth. Together, Sabrina and Selina have set a clear vision for Spotlight Theatre Co.: to create more jobs for artists in the Rio Grande Valley and to foster a thriving and inclusive arts community. They understand the importance of collaboration, partnership, and advocacy in achieving this vision, and they work tirelessly to build relationships with local artists, educational institutions, and community organizations. Working with Spotlight Theatre Co. for the past three years has made me grow tremendously. Before Spotlight, I got my start at the City of Pharr’s Parks and Recreation in their theatre department, creating alongside Sabrina and Selina since I was 15. A big part of my work at Parks and Rec. had been making trailers to advertise whatever show we were putting on at the time, which eventually led me into my love for film! I studied and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with my degree in Radio-Television-Film in December 2022. With 3 IMDB credits and a multitude of unreleased films in festivals, I am proud to bring what I have learned back to Spotlight Theatre Co. This summer I have continued to lead my wonderful techies that I love so dearly. I hope that they take what they learn and are able to confidently continue creating no matter in what aspect it's in. This show wouldn’t have been possible without my team that pour their everything into this show, because they care and their dedications speaks volumes. I know this bio was supposed to be about me but I can’t say how much I appreciate and love my techies enough! We all grew so much in such a short time span and I can’t wait to see where their future takes them. I plan to continue with Spotlight as their Director of Operations and make this dream a reality. Jacqueline Sifuentes Director of Productions Ricky Flores Choreographer With a passion for dance and a keen eye for detail, Ricky has made his mark in the RGV as a choreographer. Ricky has choreographed for shows such as Bring it on!, In the Heights, Grease, Carrie the Musical, and many more. He's been fortunate to work with many various theatres and schools across the RGV. This is Ricky's first production with Spotlight Theatre and he is so thrilled to collaborate and work with such talented performers. Victoria Rose Cantú is beyond delighted to be collaborating with Spotlight Theatre Co. this summer on this tremendous musical! She has been the Vocal Director for shows such as Spring Awakening, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Flight Street, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Into the Woods, & My Fair Lady. Victoria has also starred in classics like Chicago, Pippin, Bonnie & Clyde Mamma Mia, & Into the Woods. Victoria Rose would like to thank Sabrina & Selina for this amazing directing opportunity, & her family & friends for always being supportive of her artistic endeavors! Victoria Rose Cantu Vocal Director Vera Alonzo Stage Manager Vera Alonzo is an incoming senior at PSJA SouthWest Early College High School. This is Vera's second production with Spotlight Theatre Co. Last summer she served as our assistant Stage manager and through her experience she was grateful for the opportunity to advance in her role and become our lead Stage Manager. She says working with Spotlight has allowed her to take everything she's learned about theatre and apply it to a real production. She has also been able to learn more about the technical aspect of what goes into making a full blown show. She has had the opportunity to learn what it means to be an manager and about the work that is put in behind the scenes. Being at Spotlight has allowed her to make friends and form bonds with people who she had only ever seen in other productions. She is incredibly grateful for the opportunity of being a part of this fantastic production and she hopes you enjoy The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
