ENGAGING&THE&STUDENT&
& From&One&Thought&to&Many&
Have a dialogue with one’s self:
Have students think about and write their own thoughts on a topic. Example: Tell students to “analyze their essay for main ideas and supporting details”.
Dialogue with Others:
Put students in partners. Have the partners to read the essays and determine main ideas and details together. This dialogue with others can be in groups up to five people.
Analysis
Students can develop ideas based on the different opinions and thoughts of the other members of the group.
Doing
Students have an understanding of what they need to do to develop a better product. They will also have a stronger sense of what it is they need to learn.
