8 | Old Naples News January 2026MAYOR TERESA LEE HEITMANNCity of Naples MayorAs Mayor of Naples, I am often reminded of what draws people to our city. Again and again, residents share that it is our vibrant arts and cultural scene, a defining hallmark of Naples that reflects the dedication, passion, and vision of those who lead and support our arts community. Through theater, visual arts, and diverse cultural programming, the arts enrich our daily lives, strengthen our civic identity, and bring people together in meaningful ways. The City of Naples has long recognized this essential role, understanding that a thriving arts environment enhances our public spaces, preserves our history, and deepens our sense of community. Two institutions in particular were intentionally positioned to draw people to Naples and have since become cornerstones in shaping the city’s cultural landscape. Founded in 1953 and establishing their permanent home at the Sugden Community Theatre in 1998, The Naples ALL ABOUT THE ARTSNaples Art InstitutePlayers have anchored Fifth Avenue South as a centerpiece for the performing arts. Each year, they welcome tens of thousands of patrons, offering opportunities for shared artistic experiences that foster creativity and community connection. Just across Fifth Avenue in Cambier Park, the Naples Art Institute, established during this same year, continues to broaden our cultural horizons through exhibitions, classes, and public programs that nurture artists of all ages and backgrounds. Their continued success reflects the enduring vision of those who believed that the arts should be woven into the very fabric of our community, a vision that continues to guide us today.Building upon this foundation, I am proud to share that on October 8, 2025, the city council approved a Public Art Partnership Agreement with Gulfshore Playhouse. This collaboration marks an important step forward in our commitment to supporting creativity and cultural enrichment citywide. Through this agreement, the city and Gulfshore Playhouse will combine their public art funds to commission a single, signature piece of public art. A joint selection panel will oversee the artist selection and site placement to ensure the artwork reflects our shared values of aesthetic excellence, public accessibility, and lasting artistic significance. This initiative underscores Naples’ belief that public art is a powerful expression of community spirit. Our dedication to the arts was further demonstrated during recent discussions with the new Four Seasons Naples Beach Club. I am delighted to highlight their Public Art Program, which features five outdoor sculptures by artists Daved H. Turner and Guillaume Castel. From lifesized bronze wildlife sculptures such as “Henry” the pelican and Great Blue Heron III to the abstract stainless steel piece Samare, each work celebrates the natural and cultural heritage of our region. Placed along a public, walkable trail that connects Market Square to the gulf beach, these sculptures invite residents and visitors to pause, learn, and explore. They also reflect important partnerships with local institutions such as The Conservancy of Southwest Florida and United Arts Collier, ensuring that art, nature, and history remain intertwined in the Naples experience.Together, these efforts affirm Naples’ longstanding belief that the arts are not simply an enhancement, they are a defining feature of who we are. By investing in strategic partnerships, supporting public art installations, preserving historic landscapes, and uplifting artistic expression, we ensure that Naples’ cultural legacy endures for generations.I encourage all residents and visitors to experience the many ways art enriches life in Naples whether through a performance, museum visit, art class, lecture, or concert. May these moments inspire you, deepen your connection to our community, and create memories to share with family and friends. With joy and blessings,Naples Players production, Ada and the Engine Gulfshore Playhouse

10 | Old Naples News January 2026NCF ANNOUNCES 2026 NWWF SPECIAL FUND A NEED FOCUS ON CHILDREN’S HEALTHCARE“THE PICTURE OF HEALTH”The Naples Children Foundation (NCF), the founding organization of the Naples Winter Wine Festival (NWWF), today announced that its annual Fund a Need for the 2026 Naples Winter Wine Festival will focus on children’s healthcare, addressing critical gaps in access to mental health, oral health, vision and primary healthcare services.Every dollar raised for this special call to action live auction lot named “The Picture of Health” will support NCF’s comprehensive approach toward opening the door to essential healthcare at an early age and ensuring that local children receive the critical resources and services needed for them to grow and thrive. Without help, these children endure unnecessary pain, fall behind in school, and too often end up in emergency rooms for conditions that could have been prevented.Established in 2001, the Naples Winter Wine Festival offers three days of the very best in wine and food and ranks as one of the most successful international charity wine auctions in the world, raising more than $336 million for children in need in Collier County. At the 2026 festival, patrons will have the chance to show their support through an exhilarating live auction on Saturday, January 31, while supporters who are unable to attend the festival can make a direct gift to NCF or participate through an online auction from Friday, January 23 to Tuesday, February 3.NCF recognizes that a child’s ability to learn and thrive is deeply connected to their health and well-being. It’s about nurturing the whole child-ensuring they have access to essential healthcare that supports not only their physical health, but also their academic success, emotional growth, and future potential. That’s why, for this year’s Naples Children Foundation Picture of Health

12 | Old Naples News January 2026Naples Winter Wine Festival, the foundation is placing a special emphasis on children’s healthcare through its annual Fund a Need initiative.“Every day in Collier County, children face heartbreaking health challenges,” said 2026 NWWF Co-Chair Nena Beynon. “Without a foundation of good health, there is no future.”Together, we can fill in the gaps and provide the essential resources that children in Collier County need to overcome the current realities they face. Here are some startling statistics:• Mental Health: From 2017 to 2022, there was a 100 percent increase in suicide deaths among Collier County children aged 10–19.• Oral Health: 80 percent of children screened through the NCF Pediatric Oral Health Initiative had tooth decay due to a lack of treatment.• Vision: Up to 85 percent of Title I* and at-risk students have undiagnosed or untreated vision problems, affecting how they learn, grow, and thrive.(*Title I refers to schools with high numbers or high percentages of disadvantaged children)• Primary Health Care: 65 percent of Collier County Public Schools students qualify for free or reducedprice lunch, showing that over half of children come from low-income families facing barriers like limited awareness, transportation, and access to care.“Donations to our 2026 Fund a Need will open the door to essential care – primary, oral, vision, and mental health services that catch problems early and restore children’s well-being,” said Sue Bieker, NCF Trustee and 2026 Grant Committee Chair. “With our patrons’ generosity, barriers come down, and every child has the chance to grow up as the true Picture of Health.”Every dollar raised through “The Picture of Health” auction lot will go to support NCF’s strategic initiatives to focus on the future of children in our community. 24 | Old Naples News January 2026NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONSLORNA FEDELEM, MDA SUSTAINABLE APPROACHDo you treat the New Year like a personal health seminar, a moment to reassess your habits and redesign the “new you?” I used to do exactly that—scribbling down grand plans for self-improvement and imagining how much better I’d feel once I transformed everything at once. My list included exercising daily, losing weight, cutting back on eating out, reading more, and swearing off sugar. I loved the idea of a perfected version of myself, yet most years I barely made it past week two. I later learned I wasn’t alone: Forbes reports that only about 8% of people achieve their New Year’s resolutions. Alas, I was among the 92%!Instead of tackling huge, overwhelming resolutions, consider a gentler, more sustainable approach. Below are fifteen wellness tips to help you jump-start your health goals for the New Year and beyond.1. Set an attainable goal and create a simple plan.Lofty, drastic goals often guarantee frustration. Choose something realistic and break it into small, manageable steps. Consistency, not intensity, leads to longterm success.CLEAN EATING2. Add more fruits and vegetables to each meal.A colorful, plant-forward diet is linked to longevity and disease prevention. The more vibrant your plate, the better your body functions.3. Keep healthy snacks within reach. If wholesome options are available, you’re far less tempted by sugary or salty alternatives. Avoid buying unhealthy snacks altogether so you won’t have to battle willpower later.4. Aim for 60 ounces of water a day.Hydration boosts energy, flushes toxins, improves skin, and supports immunity. If plain water isn’t appealing, try infusions or herbal teas.5. Start your morning with a warm, hydrating drink.Warm water with lemon is soothing and helps alkalinize the body. Coffee is fine too—just avoid turning it into a sugar-loaded dessert. Gradually reduce sweeteners and allow your taste buds to adjust.NON-TOXIC LIVING6. Reevaluate your beauty products and switch to cleaner options as you run out.Look for skincare that supports healthy aging and ingredients like peptides that encourage collagen renewal.7. Choose natural household cleaners.Simple staples like vinegar, water, and baking soda clean effectively without harsh chemicals.8. 26 | Old Naples News January 2026PUBLIC EDUCATIONPOWERING OUR FUTURE IN 2026CHAD OLIVER Chief Communication OfficerCollier County Public SchoolsCollier County Public Schools (CCPS) is shaping future leaders and workforce development in Southwest Florida. From career-ready programs to modern facilities, these initiatives reflect a shared commitment to preparing students while supporting our region’s economic growth.NEW COURSE OFFERINGS AND CAREER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES CCPS is widening career exploration and helping prepare students to meet local workforce needs. CCPS is now offering a dual enrollment opportunity for the growing sector of medical devices. In partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and Arthrex, CCPS is offering a Medical Device Industry course on the campus of Aubrey Rogers High School. Similar to the Aviation Academy at Lely High School, this program is open to all CCPS high school students. Building on the success of this innovative course, CCPS anticipates growing interest in 2026 from students across the district. CCPS has been working to expand Career Dual Enrollment (CDE) options to all our high school students. This allows students to remain enrolled at their home high school and spend part of the day training at one of the technical college campuses operated by CCPS. The following are the projected career dual enrollment numbers for School Year 2026-27: • 300 spots for Lorenzo Walker Technical High School (LWTH) students to attend Lorenzo Walker Technical College (LWTC) • 165 spots for students in the remaining Naples-area high schools to attend LWTC • 300 spots for students to attend Immokalee Technical College (iTECH) • CCPS also plans to launch a new avionics program at LWTC that will accept career dual-enrollment students FACILITIES EXPANSION AND IMPROVEMENTS The District School Board of Collier County is building a state-of-the-art elementary school in the master-planned community of Ave Maria. Scheduled to open in August 2026, Ave Maria Elementary, led by Principal Bev Budzynski, will proudly welcome students as the home of the Cardinals. This will be the 33rd elementary school operated by CCPS, and construction is being funded without incurring additional debt, thanks in large part to the district’s foresight in acquiring the property back in 2008. Additionally, it is designed and built to serve the community as a storm shelter. Ave Maria Elementary is being built to serve 900 students, and we anticipate building a future middle school on the 46-acre site. Speaking of facilities, CCPS is in the process of converting all high school baseball and softball fields to synthetic turf, and the work should be completed in the next two years. The benefits of synthetic turf include durability and consistent play, weather resistance, lower maintenance, cost efficiency over the lifecycle, a safer surface for students, extended usability, and aesthetic appeal. Another new project on the horizon is a CCPS Transportation Facility in Golden Gate Estates to accommodate growth in that part of Collier County. The transportation compound will be located at the corner of Immokalee Road and 47 Avenue Northeast. A-RATING FOR ACCOUNTABILITY Student assessments in the late spring will determine school and district grades. Collier County Public Schools is the only school district in southwest Florida to earn an “A” rating this past school year and will be aiming to continue the A-rated streak that began in 2017. Look ahead to the summer of 2026 for the updated school and district grades. Florida’s Department of Education uses a universal accountability model to evaluate all public schools and districts. This model is grounded in state law and applies the same standards across the state, from small rural districts to large urban ones. That grade is based on a comprehensive formula that includes up to 12 components measuring student achievement, learning gains, graduation rates, and acceleration, which includes college and career readiness.Every new course, every upgraded facility, and every earned ‘A’ grade reflects a simple truth: public education is the foundation of opportunity. Together, we are building a future where every student can thrive.Automotive Program at Lorenzo Walker Nursing Program at Lorenzo Walker Technical CollegeTechnical College

28 | Old Naples News January 2026DAVID LAWRENCE CENTERS’ SOUND MINDS FUNDRAISER SHINES A LIGHT ON VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERSACTOR AND HUMANITARIAN GARY SINISE FEATURED AS KEYNOTE SPEAKERFor many veterans in Collier County, the transition home marks the start of a new set of challenges that are far less visible. Behind the resilience and discipline that define their service, many carry invisible wounds – such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression – that can make everyday life feel overwhelming. With approximately 26,000 veterans in Collier County, the need for specialized services is significant. In 2024, David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health provided more than 9,000 services to approximately 215 veterans. While many veterans sought counseling or clinical support, DLC’s dedicated, experienced, and compassionate team also connected those in need to vital resources to help them regain stability and independence in their day-to-day lives. The need for these services remains great, underscoring the importance of strong, specialized behavioral health services close to home. This is why David Lawrence Centers is centering its 2026 Sound Minds event on the needs of veterans and first responders. The annual fundraiser, scheduled for March 19, 2026, will spotlight the realities these individuals face and raise essential support for the behavioral health programs that serve them. Proceeds from the event support DLC’s access for all programs, ensuring community members have access to lifesaving and life-changing behavioral health care, regardless of their ability to pay. This year’s program features Gary Sinise, an actor, humanitarian, and nationally recognized advocate for those who serve. His commitment to veterans spans more than four decades, shaped by his family’s own military history and deepened through his portrayal of Lt. Dan Taylor in the Academy Awardwinning film Forrest Gump. Following 9/11, Sinise expanded his efforts by launching the Lt. Dan Band and later establishing the Gary Sinise Foundation to support service members, first responders, and their loved ones. Sinise’s powerful story and longstanding advocacy make him a natural fit as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Sound Minds event. Members of the DLC Board of Directors and veterans Edward Morton, Robert Magrann, and Garrett Richter are serving as the event’s honorary co-chairs. Their personal experience brings an important perspective to the conversation, further highlighting the need for coordinated, community-wide support. Many veterans and first responders continue to navigate the long-term impacts of trauma tied to combat exposure or emergency response work. Post-traumatic stress disorders remain a leading concern, but depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders are equally common. Left untreated, these conditions can increase the risk of suicide and social isolation, showcasing the urgent need for specialized support tailored to the unique experience of veterans and first responders.DLC offers care through a comprehensive network of services, including clinical treatment, coordinated case management, inpatient and outpatient programs, peer support, and specialty medical services. Sound Minds gives the community a meaningful way to support DLC’s efforts to provide hope for every Collier County resident in need. For more information about DLC’s Sound Minds event, visit DLCSoundMinds.org or contact Miriam Pereira, senior advancement officer, at 239.455.8500 ext. 1451 or at [email protected], humanitarian, and advocate for service members Gary Sinise, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Sound Minds event.

32 | Old Naples News January 2026COLLIER VOTES LOCAL IN 2026In 2026, not only will voters be asked to make a choice for the Florida governor and cabinet members, but they will also make selections for their representatives in the U.S. Senate and Congress, the Florida Senate and House, county commission, and school board. Also, contingent on where voters reside, they may see a city council race and special district contests on their ballot, including mosquito control district, fire district, and community development district positions. On February 3, voters residing within the City of Naples will be asked to vote for three city council seats. The winners of this election will represent the City of Naples and the citizens who live within it. They will serve in the city’s best interests by legislating for the municipality, directing the enforcement of ordinances, transacting city business, providing community leadership, and overall protecting the welfare of the city and its inhabitants.During the August 18 primary election, voters county-wide will select among candidates within their political party for federal, state, and local seats. Florida is a closed primary state, therefore, only voters who are registered members of a political party may vote for their respective party’s candidates during this election. Voters without a party affiliation are not eligible to vote in partisan contests, and voters who belong to a minor party can only vote for party candidates if the minor party they are affiliated with has a primary contest. There will also be nonpartisan races on the primary election ballot, including school board and judges. All voters, whether they are affiliated with a political party or not, can vote in these nonpartisan contests. The general election, on November 3, will see the winning candidates from the primary election face off with opposing parties. Voters will also see nonpartisan special districts on their ballot, and voters who reside in the City of Marco Island will vote for their city council. Voters will also be asked to vote for or against initiatives placed on the ballot by citizen petitions or by the Florida Legislature.IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER FOR THE 2026 ELECTION CYCLE ARE AS FOLLOWS:Election Voter Registration Deadline *Early Voting Election DayCity of NaplesPrimary ElectionGeneral ElectionJanuary 5, 2026July 20, 2026October 5, 2026N/AAugust 8-15October 22-31February 3, 2026August 18, 2026November 3, 2026Voting in local elections may not get the attention of national elections, but they have powerful and immediate effects on our communities. Many of these down-ballot races elect leaders who make decisions about public safety, local infrastructure, schools, zoning, parks, and transportation, just to name a few. Your vote has real power to influence the decisions that affect you, your neighbors, and your community’s future. When more people vote locally, our elected officials are more representative of their districts and can respond efficiently to what the local needs are for their constituents. This year, make a plan to get out and vote local!

34 | Old Naples News January 2026STARTING THE NEW YEAR WITH MIND-BODY RENEWALThe author of Diet Slave No More!, Svetlana Kogan, MD, IFMCP is a Board-Certified Internal Medicine, Holistic & Functional Medical Doctor with 25 years of experience. CustomLongevity.com | 239.676.6883DR. KOGANMD. IFMCPJanuary always brings big resolutions — lose weight, get fit, eat better, sleep more. But in my experience, the most powerful change we can make is not dramatic or flashy. It’s the shift that happens quietly inside: a commitment to resetting the mind and nervous system so that all other goals become sustainable. Many of my patients walk into the new year feeling stressed, overwhelmed, chronically tense, or emotionally drained. They tell me their minds race at night, their sleep feels shallow, and they spend more time worrying than living. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Modern life constantly asks us to multitask, hustle, and respond instantly. The nervous system rarely gets the pause it needs to switch from survival mode into healing mode. Before we rush to solve every problem this January, I invite you to consider a different approach: the beginner’s mindset. In Zen philosophy, beginner’s mind (Shoshin) refers to approaching life with open curiosity — letting go of rigid expectations, perfectionism, and selfcriticism. When we release the idea that we must have everything figured out, we allow space for creativity, healing, and joy to return.Instead of asking, “How do I fix this myself?”Ask, “What is one gentle change I’m open to trying today?”Small is sustainable. Small is powerful. Small is where the nervous system feels safe enough to shift.CREATING MIND–BODY RENEWAL THROUGH HABITS1. Start with Breath and StillnessJust five deep breaths can switch the nervous system from fight-or-flight into rest-and-repair. Your shoulders drop. Heart rate slows. Brain fog lifts.Try breathing in through your nose for a count of four, holding the breath for a count of four, and exhaling through the mouth for a count of eight — long exhales signal safety to the brain.2. Sleep as MedicineSleep is not a luxury; it is primary repair time for hormones, immune function, and memory.Aligning sleep with natural day rhythms improves cortisol balance and stress resilience. For many Floridians, morning outdoor light exposure is essential: sunlight within the first hour after waking helps reset melatonin cycles and improves nighttime sleep. In the evenings, choose paper books over TV, cell phones, and computers. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Mind-Body loves regularity and consistency.3. Move Gently, Move OftenMovement calms stress response and clears mental static. But movement doesn’t have to be intense. A brief beach walk, gentle stretching, or dancing in your living room can shift your state profoundly.TWO-MINUTE PRACTICE TO TRY TODAY• If you are near nature — and in Florida, most of us are — step outside barefoot on the beach or in comfortable shoes elsewhere.• Walk slowly for two minutes.• During this walk, say to yourself:“In this moment, nothing is required of me.”Notice the sound of waves or wind. Notice the temperature of the air. Marvel at the beauty of egrets and pelicans flying by. Notice your breath in your body. Say your prayer of gratitude. This is not exercise — it is nervoussystem repair. This year, instead of pushing harder, try softening. Start with the mind, with breath, with sleep, and with small outdoor rituals that ground you in the present. Your goals will unfold more easily when your nervous system feels safe and supported.A FUNCTIONAL DOCTOR'S PERSPECTIVE

Edwards Asset Management is a separate entity from WFAFN.CONCENTRATED STOCKCONCENTRATED INVESTMENTS ARE USUALLY A SIGN THAT SOMETHING WORKED.A company succeeded. A career paid off. A conviction proved itself over time. But success creates complexity. When one stock grows large enough to take control of your portfolio, it begins to limit your focus and your flexibility. If you’ve ever put the stock ticker into your mobile app for one-touch quotes or real-time updates, you know what I’m talking about…THE BIGGEST THING THAT LIMITS MOST PEOPLE FROM TAKING CONTROL OF CONCENTRATION IS TAXES.A stock appreciates for years, maybe decades. The cost basis becomes folklore among friends, family, maybe even your advisor. Owning the position starts to carry a sense of pride. And selling means a tax bill that feels impossible to justify. So, the position (and the risk) stays.WEALTH CREATION VERSUS PRESERVATIONThe counterpunch to managing concentrated stock is that history is full of examples of where concentration has been the thing that built great fortunes. Gates, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Jobs, Walton…these are household names because of the wealth they created. But wealth creation and wealth preservation are different skill sets. The investors who made their fortune through concentration rarely kept it that way. They diversified, planned, and created flexibility long before the market forced them to.That side of the story doesn’t have the same seduction, so it doesn’t get told…but this is why family offices exist.TRADING RISK FOR FLEXIBILITYIn my experience, investors know the risks of a concentrated stock position. They just get stuck trying to figure out how to manage it without creating a tax event. But it doesn’t require liquidation. You have choices, and there are strategies that make this possible. The bad news about choice is that too many choices can create overwhelm – I get that.I like the HOPES framework to help organize the main ways to address concentration risk.HOLD - Retain exposure where it still fits your plan but define limits.OVERLAY - Add derivative-based strategies to your existing concentrated stock position to manage risk or create liquidity without triggering immediate taxes.PHILANTHROPY - Gift appreciated shares to a charitable trust, donor-advised fund, or foundation to create an immediate tax deduction for you and an impact for the causes you care about.EXCHANGE - Contribute stock to a pooled fund to gain diversification while deferring capital gains.SELL - Structured, gradual sales help manage risk and taxes while freeing up capital for new opportunities. Each path in the HOPES framework helps investors trade risk for flexibility. The keyword is trade. As they say in investing, “There is no free lunch.” When it comes to managing concentrated stock, every decision carries a cost – in taxes, timing, or opportunity.Knowledge is power. And when you understand these trade-offs, you’ll feel more confident about how to manage concentrated stock risk in a way that is best for you, your life, and your goals.A PARADOX OF SUCCESS

His beautiful spirit and positive energy were a beacon of light in our lives, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. He was more than an artist; he was a pillar of our community, a source of joy, and a friend to all. Among his many accomplishments and awards, he most treasured the honor of having a song written about his paintings called “Phil Fisher Skies,” not only living on forever on canvas, but in a song by Marie Nofsinger. His legacy will live on through his art and the countless lives he enriched. Though he may no longer be with us, his light will continue to shine through the his art and the stories behind them and the memories we hold dear.Rest in peace, dear friend. HOLLY MANNECKI studied fine art, photography and graphic design at Plymouth University in NH and have a BS in Social Work from the University of Vermont. I grew up in Vermont teaching skiing and snowboarding full-time and swimming in the summers. I always had a dark room when people knew what they were and was always drawing, painting on whatever item I felt I wanted to explore. For the last 18 years my husband and I have split our time between Florida, Montana, and New Hampshire. Having always been interested in other cultures and having lived in many different countries such as Norway, Germany, St. John in the USVI, and Grand Cayman Islands, and working on cruise ships traveling the world, these journeys helped me to understand the generosity of people and the beauty of different cultures. It has given me a deeper understanding of what it is to be human. Through these experiences my love of Popular Culture-Pop Art developed. It is the visual language I use and invite you along for the journey for you to add your own story. I believe understanding different cultures and popular culture brings us together as a people and shows that what unites us is much greater than what divides us and helps us respect one another. I am an award-winning artist, and I’m represented in galleries throughout the United States. I have collectors worldwide, been published in magazines and books. 46 | Old Naples News January 2026EMPTY BOWLS NAPLESNEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS For 20 years, Empty Bowls Naples (EBN), a 501(c)(3), has gifted many food pantries in the Lee and Collier communities with generous grants; so far, totals are over one million dollars! The story of how this has been accomplished reads like a fairy tale.Due to generous potters who make thousands of bowls, EBN takes them out to area groups to be painted. Civic groups, churches, colleges, life care/nursing homes, corporations, hotel conventions, condo associations, etc., are actively involved in painting and finishing these beautiful creations for sale. Funds become part of the EBN Grant Program and are distributed in June.Spearheaded by Betsy Dawson, a small but mighty group of committed volunteers has embraced the mission to end hunger “One Bowl at a Time.”In addition, hundreds of residents have joined this effort by artists donating pieces, sponsoring, becoming Friends of EBN, creating pottery pieces, and, of course, painting over 5,000 bowls! “Neighbors helping neighbors” is truly the guiding force behind the heartwarming support shown by this community. The annual EBN event has become a very special place for area residents to come and gather, choose a bowl, sample soups, engage in a silent auction and boutique, and view potters at their creative best…just to name a few activities. The outpouring of love felt is palpable, especially since attendees know that their ticket price has a direct effect on many lives in their community. The annual event takes place in Naples Cambier Park this coming January 17. Admission is $30, which entitles the entrant to unlimited helpings of over 50 soups in a pottery bowl of their choosing from local clubs and restaurants and Panera Bread. Some of the artists are teachers and professors and have had their own museum shows. The gallery is part of the new metropolitan Naples, with its combination of luxurious downtown living in proximity to the beaches and Fifth Avenue.Sweet Art Gallery now has a second location in Ponte Vedra Beach. “We are excited to be part of the fine collection of shops and restaurants that make up Sawgrass Village,” says Sweet.Visit the Sawgrass gallery and meet our gallery director, 310 Front St., Ste 875, Ponte Vedra Beach. Both galleries offer in-home showings to allow customers to view the art in their own space before buying. We offer approachable galleries that assist clients in building collections of value. “The process of collecting art should be enjoyable and educational,” says Sweet. Please visit us at either gallery or call us to make a consultation appointment. ARTFUL ARRANGEMENTSThe Naples Art District will burst into a fusion of color, texture, and botanical imagination this January as local artists and floral designers come together for Artful Arrangements, the district’s annual signature event. Taking place January 16–18, 2026, from 1–5 p.m. each day, this three-day exhibition offers visitors the rare opportunity to see original artworks transformed and re-imagined through oneof-a-kind floral interpretations displayed throughout the working artist studios. This year’s event continues a celebrated tradition of pairing fine artists with floral designers who reinterpret paintings, sculptures, carvings, and mixed-media works through fresh, unexpected botanical creations. Much of the creative energy driving these pairings comes from Margy Metzler, past president of Ikebana International #160, who has played a pivotal role in bringing Ikebana artists into collaboration with Naples’ visual art community.“I personally find joy in working with the different artists because Ikebana is the ART of Japanese flower arranging, which means each design or piece that we do is a work of art,” Metzler explains. “I try to find new artwork to interpret that pushes me outside of my comfort zone so that I can grow as an Ikebana artist.” For 2026, Metzler will be paired with Naples Art CATHY BONACCIAuthor and Marketing & Events ManagerNaples Art DistrictDistrict woodworker Phil Costello, known for his coastal carvings and sculptural forms. We’re also pleased to welcome back Naples Garden Club Designer Jill Chamberlain, who will be collaborating again with watercolor artist Barbara Groenteman. Their artistic partnership has become a favorite among visitors. “Art is about composition — so is floral design,” Groenteman notes. “Jill’s floral interpretations always capture the flow, balance, and color of my artwork.” Chamberlain adds, “The fun aspect of doing an interpretive floral design is seeing how far outside the box you can go and yet have some relation to the artwork.”Abstract acrylic and mixed-media painter Sandee Mahler echoes the shared artistic vision that defines the event. “Both visual art and floral design are expressions of creativity,” she says. Naples Garden Club member Arlene Cluff will once again select one of Mahler’s paintings to translate into a dynamic floral composition. For the Naples Art District, the event embodies its mission to inspire and connect the community through the arts. “Artful Arrangements is a celebration of creativity in its purest form,” says Paula Brody, president of the Naples Art District. “By pairing original artwork with floral design, we invite the community to experience art in a fresh, unexpected way. This event reflects the Naples Art District’s mission to inspire, connect, and showcase the incredible talent that thrives here in Southwest Florida.”A special preview event, “Harmony in Flowers: Discovering the Art of Ikebana,” will take place at 11 a.m. on January 16 at Inspirations Art & Design Gallery, where Jill Gordon Artist, Marcia Borel, Floral DesignerA FUSION OF FINE ART AND FLORAL CREATIVITYMaster Ikebana Sensei Margy Metzler will give a live demonstration. Pre-registration is required.General admission is $20, available online or at the door. During event times, tickets can be purchased at Art Edge Gallery & Studio, 2180 J&C Blvd, or Inspirations, 5450B Shirley St. VIP Experience tickets, including exclusive access to the Ikebana preview event, are $50 and must be purchased in advance.
