52 | North Naples News February 2026IT'S ABOUT A CAREER—NOT A JOBThe Immokalee Foundation has continually adapted to its students’ needs while making an impact in Southwest Florida. The foundation has enriched the lives of motivated students from Immokalee for 34 years—over 18,000 students since its inception and 1,300+ this year alone. The objective from the beginning has been to support students after school and during the summer through programs to ensure they successfully navigate the many demands on their time. It is a focus on comprehensive and individualized support that differentiates The Immokalee Foundation from other organizations with similar goals. The Foundation is Southwest Florida’s first and only organization offering a full continuum of support—from middle school through postsecondary education and into a professional career—with impressive measurable outcomes that transform lives. Our emphasis on scholarships is part of our legacy as an awarded affiliate of the state of Florida’s Take Stock in Children program, which provides a dollar-fordollar match with every dollar becoming two dollars in scholarship funding. The goal of many students and their parents has been to ensure that the student has the financial means to provide it. But in the current environment, it is becoming clear that not all students need to graduate from a four-year university to be successful. There is growing support demonstrating that postsecondary focus should be on a successful career, not just a diploma. That may even mean that certification in a field of study from a technical school provides a better opportunity for some students to secure a well-paying job than the investment in a four-year college education. This philosophy is reinforced by local businesses, which are struggling to find well-prepared young professionals. The Immokalee Foundation is positioned to benefit the workforce needs of all of Southwest Florida through our award-winning Career Pathways program. Each year, over 370 Foundation students are guided from middle school through high school to select an in-demand career pathway that aligns with their interests. Pathways include Business Management & Entrepreneurship, Education & Human Services, Engineering & Construction Management, and Healthcare.Specifically, the foundation provides guidance, programs, summer camps, and internships to participating students in their chosen career fields. Support also includes a focus on soft skills development to better prepare students for real-world experiences. Much of this is achieved through 100+ volunteer mentors, who meet regularly with their respective mentees. The result? The Immokalee Foundation is creating the well-trained workforce of the future.Even today, Immokalee Foundation alumni design and build the homes you live in and operate many of the businesses you patronize regularly. They teach your children, fulfill vital roles in the nation’s military, and work on your healthcare teams. It’s comforting to know they will be there for us when we need them the most.Regardless of the charitable pathway you choose, please join us in supporting these deserving students. We depend on it to facilitate purchases, store our boarding passes, safeguard sensitive financial information, and even unlock our vehicles with complete precision and reliability. These are merely a few of the numerous instances demonstrating the immense potential of the Wallet app when utilized effectively.SMARTER BOARDING PASSESiOS 26 introduces several enhancements to the Wallet application. Notably, it enables smarter boarding passes, providing real-time gate changes, flight status updates, airport maps, and luggage tracking via Find My. Additionally, users can share live flight activity with friends or family, ensuring they are informed of their arrival. Furthermore, iOS 26 introduces a new CarPlay experience, which includes live activities. This feature allows users to live track their destination directly from their car, facilitating seamless transportation arrangements.ACCESS CARD NUMBERS ON THE WALLET APPAnother excellent quality-of-life feature coming to iOS 26 is the ability to safely store your actual credit numbers in the Wallet app. When you loaded up a new credit card into your Wallet app, you would need to input the credit card number, but that number would not be saved or accessible to you. I cannot tell you the number of times I needed the credit card information of a card to pay for someone online, and I didn’t have the card on me. Having that number accessible in the Wallet app would have been a game-changer, and it’s finally here! Here is how to do it:• Open Wallet and tap the card. • Tap the three dots (…) in the corner and tap card details • Select Card Information J authenticate with Face ID. • Tap Add Physical Card InformationREORDER CARDS AND SET THE DEFAULT CARDPeople always ask me how they can reorder their cards in the Apple Wallet. This works for your cards and all your loyalty cards, and other digital cards you have installed. You just long-press on the card you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. One thing to note is that the card on the bottom, the most visible card, will be your default card. So, if you move a card from the middle all the way to the bottom, and you can see the entire card, that will be your default form of payment. The Apple Wallet has gotten so much better; you can even store your US Passport there, as well as many loyalty cards and membership passes, even parking and tickets for sports games and concerts! Try these tips and your Apple Wallet will become one of your most-used apps!
