In June 2021, PBS was awarded the Guildmaster Service of

This dedication to customer service sets us apart, even more so

celebrating the Team they have built, the Clients they serve, and
the Community they support.

We invite you to celebrate with us - visit our website and follow
us on social @pbscontractors as we look back and reminisce, telling
stories of the past and future, stories of the industry, stories of
friends here and gone, and stories of how we choose to make this

Y ear after year, Naples, Florida continues to rank Aug/Sept/Oct 2021

the list goes on and on. It is a great town, and we
all love it. We love Naples not only for its beauty

much hardship and sadness, but we stand up, come back to
the beach, breathe in that salty air, and relish in the feeling
that we get to dig our toes into some of the softest sand in
the world.

We are blessed.
That is how we feel at PBS. When we look back at this

This is not just a statement; it's a commitment - and one

When the pandemic first hit, Russell Budd and the
Executive Team promised that no one would be laid off
due to the circumstances - and no one was. People worked
from home, embraced Zoom, then slowly returned to a safe
environment in the office, followed protocol, and found a way.
Let's face it, after 35 years of being a trusted leader in the
industry, nothing less was an option.

Old Naples News | 33
I' ve had a love affair with photography for most of my life, so
it’s an understatement to say I feel blessed to have created
a life and a living doing something I love to do. Add to
that, finding a beautiful woman - Jan Soderquist, also a
photographer, who not only became my business partner
but my wife, as well. Frankly… I couldn’t have asked for more.

Naples has been good to us, and it’s been our base for nearly
20 years. Our business has afforded us the opportunity to travel all
over the world and engage with many corporate and private clients.
On our journey we’ve met a lot of fantastic people, both privileged
and not so privileged. In fact, I would have to say that most of the
people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting during our travels were
warm, kind and supportive - for sure, a good life by any stretch of
the imagination. So… when Covid appeared, like everyone else,
we were hit hard. Suddenly, no business, just a lot of time on our
hands. We used this time to reflect, reset, reevaluate, and to try
to make sense of everything that was going on, while at the same
time planning as much as we could for the future and whatever
that might bring.

We’ve mastered many different expressions of photography and
videography over the years, but personally, I’ve had a passion for
landscape photography since I picked up a camera as a young lad

in my teens. Getting lost in nature, putting myself in Aug/Sept/Oct 2021
beautiful places, and waiting for the right light and
the right moment were always choices that put me in
a good space, spiritually and emotionally.

As a creative, I knew I wanted to express my
thoughts and feelings about all the strangeness going
on around me and thankfully, it culminated in a project
that allowed me to utilize my landscape photography
vision to create a positive and uplifting series of images
- images that would resonate with people and perhaps
move them in ways they may not have expected. It
was my desire that the images would remind us that
through the isolation and separation from one another
we’ve all experienced to differing degrees during this
pandemic, we would still remain fundamentally joined
in our humanity. This may sound naive to some, but
I’m a hopeful optimist and refuse to go through life
only seeing the differences in people and missing the
true essence of what joins us. Just take a few seconds to
think about how many times you’ve seen a news article
about someone, somewhere, putting his or her own
life in danger to save the life of a complete stranger.
It happens time and time again and is the humanness
I’m talking about, where at the very depth of our being
– our core, we are the same… and we care.

So, I set out to create imagery that would
remind us of our commonality through a series of
photographs that I hoped would capture the spirit of
that idea, and anyone viewing the images, especially those in a tough
place emotionally, would be reminded that we are not alone or isolated
unless we let our minds create that space for us.

The series is called “Unity” and the continuous theme throughout
the series is a glass fishing ball that my wife, Jan, found in the Sea of
Japan during a shoot. The ball represents our “oneness” our “humanness”
and the different locations serve to remind us that no matter what goes
on around us, or what inner turmoil we may be going through, the one
thing that remains constant is what we all share, what we’re all a part of,
and that’s our humanity.

LITTLEITT’HSITNHGES…

BY OZZIE PANCARO

I remember once when I was in my early 30’s (we won’t say the year). I had
walked into a fashion store and was greeted by a smiling lady that made
a nice comment that she was happy to help me after I looked around and
asked if I needed any questions answered. No pressure, no multiple questions
to put me on the defensive. We started having a wonderful conversation
about the local dining scene and how difficult the parking was outside. She gave
me some tips on how to exit the parking area and where to come in from next
time which would save me much frustration. Some 20 minutes later, I had almost
forgotten what I was there for. I felt like I was on such friendly terms with this
salesperson and could really tell her about my reservations from shopping at this
fine establishment. She was so natural and took the time to explain the details of
the items I was looking at. Things that are not written down or ever pointed out
by ads, posts or even other salespeople. I left there with the perfect gift (and then
some) but also with the knowledge of what I selected and why; which gave me
the wonderful feeling of a genuinely worthwhile purchase.
