★★★A Little Night Music
– January 12-22, 2023
A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim’s 1973
Broadway musical, is a romantic farce set in
early 20th century Sweden. It was suggested by
Ingmar Bergman’s Smiles of a Summer Night, AN
EVENING OF SEXUAL MUSICAL CHAIRS ON THE
LONGEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR. The score inspires
an emotional response, especially Sondheim’s song,
“Send in the Clowns.” A Little Night Music won
the 1973 Tony Award for best musical. (Fun fact:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s concerto, Eine Kleine
Nachtmusik, translates to “a little night music.”)

The center was built with 13,000 cubic yards of fill, 1,000

with scripture verses, will mark the center as a holy place
and will be affixed to the center’s doorways in a special
ceremony. The Mezuzoth were created by Yad LaKashish, an
organization that helps senior citizens in Israel supported by
the Federation.

“The Mezuzoth will provide a connection to Israel and a
symbol of generation to generation,” Feld said. “We are very

WRAPPED IN A MYSTERY

The Art of Daria Kropacheva

BY LEEZA ARKHANGELSKAYA
Owner of East West Fine Art

N owadays our views on art are very liberal but in the
17th century, the French Academy of Fine Arts set
a clear distinction between “Low” and “High” art.
“Low” art depicts easy-to-understand subjects like
portraits, landscapes, and still lives – art for the masses. “High”
art portrays human figures (in the likeness of God) in historical,
religious, and symbolical contexts, and thus requires a certain level
of education and social status to understand. High art elevates the
human spirit, while low art caters to our primitive instincts.

According to this definition, the art of Daria Kropacheva
certainly falls into the category of art for the elite. It satisfies
the highest level of mental and spiritual aspirations of the most
discriminative viewer.

And what’s even more important – her paintings are
harmonious, beautiful, and emotionally charged.

Leeza Arkhangelskaya, owner of East West Fine Art has
recently had an insightful discussion with Daria Kropacheva, an
incredibly mature artist, especially considering that she is only 34.

We want to share with you Daria’s views on art, its complexity
and controversy, and its role in the modern world.

LA: You are an artist following the classical tradition, while many
contemporary artists are going in a completely different direction.
How do you see yourself in the modern art world?

DK: Yes, I sometimes subconsciously embed current topics into
my paintings. I live in the modern world and its issues affect me.
And yet I consider current issues being as old as humanity.

CLEOPATRA'S BARGE

New location–same diamond service!

C leopatra’s Barge Fine Jewelry is still going strong
after 56 years but has a new location above Bice’s
Restaurant at 300 5th Ave South, Ste 211. There’s
plenty of parking in the rear and an elevator for
your convenience.

Marilyn Janss just won the “Best of
Naples” award as the “Best Jewelry Store”
in Naples! The award was presented
the Naples Grand two days prior to
Hurricane Ian. She is so appreciative to
all of her loyal customers for choosing
Cleopatra’s Barge Fine Jewelry for this
award and looks forward to seeing
everyone at her new location.

Janss, a fine Jewelry Designer, is well known for the “Naples
Medallion,” the image of our iconic Naples Pier. Originally built
in 1888 as a freight and passenger dock as well as housing the
post office.

She has customers from all over the world who bring her
projects to redesign during their stay in our beautiful Naples.

She has downsized to be able to devote more time for custom
jewelry, special orders, and repairs. She will be spending a lot of
time at the new location, but appointments are encouraged.

BACKGROUND

Janss was trained by two jewelers in the mid 60s. The first
designed jewelry for Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels®,
and Cartier in New York City. The second had an office in
the City and did the diamond settings for the above three
Fine Jewelry stores.

Janss love turning your old heirlooms into something new or
reconfiguring some of the fine jewelry you may have forgotten
about into something very special, individually designed, and
pieces that you will love and want to wear again.

She is so thankful for all the years past and looks forward to the
years to come.
