Professional Development Plan

Summer
2018

Strategic STEAM Plan

This summer I was asked to work with a colleague on the District STEAM Plan.
Through extensive research, the structure of the plan including the goals and
objectives were set by me. Below are the major objectives and an example for
each:

Objective 1: Provide students with increased opportunities to discover STE(A)M
related careers and preparation for their postsecondary pursuits, developing a
pipeline of interest from elementary through post-secondary.
-Strategy 1.2: 6-8 students participate in CS Discoveries curriculum via their
enhancement classes/clubs.

Objective 2: Students will increase their awareness and interest in STE(A)M
related occupations via participation in local, state, and national level
exhibitions/competitions.
-Strategy 2.1: K-5 students participate in First Lego League Jr. curriculum in
Digital Learning Commons

Objective 3: All teachers will be trained on delivering embedded inquiry-based
STE(A)M content.
-Strategy 3.1. Schedule PD with Teika Clavell (Educator on Loan) from DPI
Digital Teaching and Learning Division

Objective 4: Increase community understanding, awareness, and support through
connections and partnerships between the business community and the school
community.
-Strategy 4.3: Hold 3 Career/STE(A)M Nights for the district (city, north, south)
led by students, staff and community.

Objective 5: Increased funding to STE(A)M initiatives from both public and
private sources.
-Strategy 5.1: Actively seek out and apply for grant funding for STE(A)M
projects.
