Enamel
Teeth are surrounded by a hard substance called ENAMEL.
The enamel is hard that it crush food without breaking.

1. Milk teeth
Milk teeth start
coming out when
babies are 5 - 8
months old.

Next to the incisor teeth are the CANINE teeth.

to tear food.

because they eat meat.

Next to the canine teeth are the PREMOLAR.

TOOTH DECAY is the damage of
the outer surface (enamel)
of the teeth.
WHAT CAUSES TOOTH DECAY?
Sugars in food and drinks react with the
bacteria, forming acids.
Bacteria +sugar= acid
These acids attack the
enamel and makes a cavity
(hole) in the tooth.
REMEMBER!!!
✓ Between the age of 5 and 10, the milk teeth will
start to fall out.
✓ They are replaced by permanent teeth.
✓ If the permanent teeth is damaged and need to be
removed, it WILL NOT be replaced again.
How to take
care of our
teeth?
See the dentist
at least once a
year.
Brush teeth at
least twice a
day.
Do not eat too
much sweet
food.
Eat lots of
cheese, milk,
fruits and
vegetables.
Use dental
floss to remove
food between
teeth.
