The Montana Our Story
Cigar Story

We have a rich history of cigars in
Montana and Big Sky Cigar Co.’s mission
is to bring that tradition back to life.

In 1905, Montana had over 107 Cigar factories within the
state. With only a little over 240,000 people in the entire
territory at the time, that equates to 1 cigar factory for every
2,200 people. Designed locally and created with the highest
quality ingredients, Big Sky Cigar, Co. Cigars aim to bring
that type of high quality supply access back to Montana.

The Montana Our Story
Cigar Story

Back in the heyday of Cigars in Montana, tobacco
was imported from around the world from countries
like Jamaica, Java, Haiti, and Nicaragua. is tobacco
would arrive in Montana where skilled rollers would
design and make the best cigars in the country at
a ordable prices for their neighbors.
We here at Big Sky Cigar Co. are delivering to you the
highest quality tobacco from Central America, rolled
with the utmost care, at a price that will allow all,
legal aged, Montanans to enjoy. Like the rollers of
Montana’s past, we o er this gift to you, neighbors.

When you take your rst draw o of
one of our cigars remember the
Miners of Butte, the Lumberjacks of
our great forests, the Ranchers of the
East Montana Plains, and the
Railroad Workers that built our
infrastructure. With each draw you
are now a part of a Montana
Tradition of Cigars.
Long ashes my friends.

A Great A Great Fishing Cigar

Fishing Cigar

(Ross Purnell, Fly Fisherman Magazine Editor)

I admit I’m not a cigar a cionado.
Heck, I’m not even a weekly cigar
smoker, but I’ve had many special
celebrations outdoors that involved
a ne cigar: at time I smoked a
cigar and caught trout one-hand-
ed-on a Morrish Mouse-in Kamchat-
ka; that one time I had a glass of
Glenlivet and a cigar with my good
friend on the porch of Royal Wolf
Lodge in Alaska; and that time I had
caught more than enough sh on a
Paradise Valley spring creek and

nished the day just
smoking a cigar and watching the
trout rise.

Cigars keep the mosquitoes at bay, and seem to put an exclamation point on
special events like welcoming the birth of your rst child or releasing your rst
10-pound brown trout.

e founders of Big Sky Cigar Co. took
this foundational idea, and made the
idea of a great shing cigar just
a little bit better. With the sale of each
box of cigars, a portion of the
proceeds is donated to Warriors &
Quiet Waters Foundation, a
Montana-based therapeutic

y- shing program for post-9/11
combat veterans and their families.

e founders Jess Coleman (University of Montana A Great Fishing Cigar
alumni) and Brandon Marsh (Montana State University
alumni) started the company to bring jobs to the small
town of Laurel, Montana, (just outside of Billings) and
recreate what they say is a proud tradition of cigar
making in Montana. e owners and employees not
only y sh on weekends, they are actively engaged in
river cleanups and restoration projects in their area.

e Montana River Box ($99, bigskycigar.com) comes in a Spanish cedar box with ve hand-rolled
Yellowstone cigars, 12 ies from Montana Trout Flies, and a twin-blade guillotine cigar cutter. It’s a
perfect gift. A 20-count box of Yellowstone cigars (without ies) is $164.

Yellowstone cigars-the rst o ering from Big Sky Cigar Co.-are Rothschild size with long ller and
binder grown in Esteli, Nicaragua, and encased in an sungrown Connecticut River Valley seed wrapper.
