TEACHER’S ARTICLE

“The discernable fragrance of shiuli flowers is reminiscent of memory and romance.just as these flowers do not last

long, someof our alluring feelings too don’t last long but for that time period,it provides us with joy and bliss.”

With this thought in mind every year we Bengalis wait for “DEBI POKHO”,which means the DURGA PUJO DAYS

starting 6days after MAHOLAYA OR commonly known as DEBI AAGOMONI.

PUJO is not just an occasion for us but it is an emotion which we all feel nostalgic about. The aroma of ‘SHIULI

PHOOL’,the enchanting sound of ‘DHAAK N KAASHOR’,the temptuous ‘BHOG KHICHURI’ and the never ending

excitement of shopping which includes the excitement of ‘PUJOR BAAJAAR’,which means shopping n exchange of

gifts.

I remember my childhood days whereby I along with my ‘THAKUMAA(grandma)’,went for shopping. She only told me DEBOSHREE BOSE
that all 5 days I need to wear new dresses….. PRIMARY TEACHER

DURGA PUJO is all about fun and frolic apart from soaking in the festive air with friends and family. (ENGLISH)

AADDA(gossiping) and an incessant supply of fish fry and luchi along with kosha mangsho is something which we bongs

die for. Truly there is a lot on your plate but afternoons on SAPTAMI’ASTAMI AND NOVMI are generally reserved for

PUJOR BHOG.

PUJO MORNINGS in a Bengali family always starts with old BENGALI CLASSIC SONGS BY KISHORE KUMAR

OR MANNA DEY.

Finally the last day is intense whereby nostalgia of MAA leaving takes over. SINDOOR KHELA invigorates the air with

its red colour symbolising LOVE.

AASHCHE BOCHOR AABAR HOBEY ( coming year will be celebrating with much zeal and pomp),is a common

dialogue which we Bengalis shout on the last day.

BISARJAN OR IMMERSION at the end of DURGA PUJO is like a parting with a family member.

A Pup’s life BY:
ATHARV (CLASS 6A)
Hi, I am Jackie , a golden retriever . I had just
opened my eyes . All my brothers and sisters
were drinking milk . I got there and started
drinking too .A young man came into our room
and our owner asked him to choose any one of
us . I went there and licked him. He said “I want
this one”. He put me in a basket and took me
away! I cried to him ,”don’t take me away ! I
want to stay with my mother !” But I felt
comfortable in the basket and was fast asleep
when I reached his home, he introduced me to
my ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ .. Then I thought, "lets
have some fun” . I hid under a chair when they
were deciding my name . They couldn’t find me
until I came out myself. I realized that humans
are less intelligent than dogs .I played with them
for a while and then they went back to their
room , but I wanted to play more .

A DAY OF ROSY BY
AARNAAGARWAL
Once upon a time there was a girl named Rosy. She CLASS 5B
loved to play games. One day she was going to school,
during fruit break her friends asked her what did she
want to play? She told that she wanted to run with
them. Her friends said that it was a good idea. After
that in Maths class maam asked everyone to make a
project of maths related to the fraction. At lunch while
having food she got an idea regarding the project. She
thought again about the project and then discussed
with her friends. Suddenly her teacher saw her talking
with others in period and then she punished her. She
got scared and said sorry. Then in the evening, she
went to the park with her mother in a acr as her
mother can drive car. In the park she discussed the
project with her friends and then after the submission
of the same in the school. She got a reward for making
the best project in the class.
