Softscape refers to the live ISSUE 01 | SESSION 1 2022 / 2023
horticultural elements of a
landscape. Softscaping can include
flowers, plants, shrubs, trees, flower
beds, and duties like
weed/nuisance management,
grading, planting, mowing,
trimming, aerating, spraying, and
digging for everything from plants
and shrubs to flower beds. Wheel
barrows and manual tools like
rakes, shovels, picks, and gas
power tools are commonly used.
This is a term that has been
popularized in recent pop culture
(2006 onwards) on television shows
such as Home and Garden
Television. The goal of softcape is
to add character to the landscape,
create an aura, and reflect the
sensibilities of the residents.

SUMMARY ISSUE 01 | SESSION 1 2022 / 2023
w hile making this flora magazine, i gained a lot of information and
knowledge. Humans and plants are both living creatures. They both
grow from small seeds. They both need love and a supportive environment
to grow. They are both physically receptive to their surroundings.
There are hundreds of thousands of different plant species in the world,
we all know that. And each plant requires different grooming and planting
needs in order to grow abundantly. You can't plant a sunflower indoors and
expect it to turn into the radiant golden that it is. Just like you can't plant a
succulent and feed it water everyday and expect it to survive. Every single
flower, tree or bush requires their own individual care. Just like people.
