Grip Matters
First of all, I would like to wish all KPGCC members a Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year! We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to work closely with
Golf Partner in custom-fitting here at the prestigious KPGCC.
What do golfers look for in club-fitting?
Club-fitting is about maximising your golfing potential with properly-fitted golf
equipment. Optimise your distance, increase your potential for scoring well,

You could have bought the most expensive golf club in the world but if your grip of the golf club you
slips off your hands, it’s worthless – that’s good money down the drain! are connected to.”
The choices of grips available are generally categorised as follows:
1) Rubber grips
2) Half cord grips
3) Full cord grips
Rubber grips work fine if your hands are dry, but if you have sweaty palms you
would need some cords for gripping strength.
Grips also come as ‘round’ or ‘ribbed’. Round grips are more common today due
to the number of clubs out there that have changeable hosels or connectors.
Round grips allow clubs to be rotated and yet still be perfectly straight in
alignment.
It is also very important that the grip size matches your hands; if the grip is
smaller or larger than required, you might lose your grip and direction.
What Do I Do During
Club-Fitting?
1. You are required to bring your current playing set.
2. You will need to answer some questions in order for the club-fitter
to understand your current needs and requirements.
3. You will be required to hit some golf balls whilst the
Launch Monitor picks up your current ‘swing DNA’.
4. Your golf set specifications will be checked.
5. Recommendations according to priority of needs will be given.
6. Clubs will be rebuilt or custom-ordered to specification.
