15% 21% 18%10% 18% Transportation 18%Established in 2010, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings envisions to be an open and respected world university rankings which brings sustainable impacts to universities around the world. To achieve this vision, we do 5 missions. They are (1) organizing annual World University Rankings on Sustainability, (2) encouraging sustainability practices in universities around the world, (3) providing sustainability-related services for universities around the world, and (4) facilitating international partnerships on sustainability. In UI GreenMetric we believe that everyone should play their roles actively. We collaborate in our UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Network with 1183 member universities in 84 countries (2023). As a global network of universities concerned with sustainability, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Network was established in 2017. The network seeks to advance the efforts of its members and contribute to global society through three thematic priorities. They are (1) shaping global higher education and research in sustainability, (2) creating global sustainability leaders, (3) partnering on solutions to sustainability challenges. UI GreenMetric uses 39 indicators and 6 criteria i.e Setting & Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education and Research (ED) to assess participating universities’ sustainability programs. International Recognition Participation in UI GreenMetric can enhance a university’s international recognition as a sustainable university in global eduscape. Participating universities can use our metric as a guideline to transform their universities to be more sustainable. Social Change and Action Networking Participating universities have opportunities to develop global, regional, and local partnerships with other sustainable universities. It started with 95 universities from 35 countries in 2010 and rose to 1183 universities from 84 countries in 2023. We invite higher education institutions worldwide to join our ranking.
