SUTHERLAND FALLS, NEW ZEALAND

• NEW ZEALAND IS A COUNTRY WITH A LOT OF MAJOR WATERFALLS. SUTHERLAND FALLS IS
ONE OF THE HIGHEST WATERFALLS IN THE WORLD. THE HEIGHT OF THIS WATERFALL IS 580 M.
THE FALLS HAD TO HAVE BEEN BY FAR THE MIGHTIEST WATERFALL IN NEW ZEALAND.
SUTHERLAND FALLS ARE NAMED AFTER DONALD SUTHERLAND, A PROSPECTOR WHO BECOME
THE FIRST EUROPEAN TO SEE THEM IN 1880.

• IN ORDER TO VISIT THESE FALLS, VISITORS NEED TO HIKE ALONG THE MILFORD TRACK WHICH
IS ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING WALKING TRAIL IS IN THE COUNTRY. IT IS A CHALLENGING
TREK SO YOU MUST BE WELL EQUIPPED WITH APPROPRIATE CLOTHING, GEAR AND
FOOTWEAR.

CALLED GERSOPPA FALLS, GERSOPPA FALLS AND JOGADA GUNDI.

THIN STREAMS OF WATER TRICKLING DOWN THE CLIFF. BUT DURING THE MONSOON SEASON

OF THE RIVER, ABOUT 30 KM DOWNSTREAM FROM THE TOWN OF BAHIR DAR AND LAKE

POPULAR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN ICELAND. THE FLOW OF THE RIVER FROM THE REGULAR
RAINS AND THE GLACIAL RUNOFF, PARTICULARLY IN SUMMER, MAKES IT THE LARGEST VOLUME
FALLS IN EUROPE.
