1st Grade Fall Festival

Greetings Parent Fall Festival Committee!

The Fall Festival is quickly approaching! I’ve started a plan for the party if you
have feedback, I would be happy to make changes.

There are four games planned: Pumpkin Waiter/Candy Corn Relay, Picture Freeze,
Bucket Toss, & Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin. The game descriptions are
attached. If there is a station below that you would like to facilitate, please
let me know. I’ll send out station assignments on Friday.

I have supplies for the games and will bring them the day of the festival. I also
have prize buckets for each station, student bags (to carry prizes), and will have
name tags.

Thank you Missy and Mariah for bringing the snack. The Parent Club will supply
the plates, napkins, and cups if you need any.

I am Sophia’s mom and haven’t gotten to meet many of her classmates families,
yet, I am looking forward to meeting you if I haven’t yet. If I’m forgetting
anything, just let me know.

How to Play: Divide group in to two teams. Each team will be given
one plate and one “pumpkin.” The students must balance the

pumpkin on the paper plate while they walk from one piece of
tape to the other and back. The player will then pass off the plate
and pumpkin to the next player on their team. The game is over
when all members of a team have completed the course. Winners
may choose a prize from the prize bucket.

Halloween Candy Relay

The full bowl of candy is set up at the far end of the playing area.
One player from each team races to the full bowl, fills the scoop
with candy and carries it back to the starting line where the empty

bowl sits. The goal is to be the first team to fill the empty bowl with the candy. The

smaller the scoop, the more of a challenge the game is for the kids.

Change groups when you hear, Monster Mash and send group onto Snack. 1

Story/Charades and Snack Time 2

Pass out snack. While students have their snacks, you can read
a story or play charades! Give students prizes from the prize for
acting or guessing correctly. If listening to a story, students
can earn prizes for being good listeners or answering
questions. Change groups when you hear Monster Mash and
send group onto Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin/Ball Toss.

Bucket Toss 3

How to Play: Give students 6 balls and have them try to
toss one into each bucket. Each bucket is labeled with a
number, that signifies the numbers of points a player
will earn for tossing a ball into the bucket. The player at
the end of the round with the highest score, wins.
Winners may choose a prize from the prize bucket. Play
continues (between Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin and
Bucket Toss) until it’s time to rotate. Change groups when you hear
Monster Mash and send group onto Picture Freeze

Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin

How to Play: Blindfold the student, give them a

pumpkin nose and spin them around 5 times. After

you have spun them, face them in the direction of

the pumpkin and tell them to try to put the nose on

the pumpkin. Those closest may choose a prize from

the prize bucket. Play continues (between bucket

toss and pin the nose on the pumpkin) until it’s time to rotate. If you need

an additional activity, complete the Halloween Mad Lib Together. Change

groups when you hear Monster Mash and send group onto Picture Freeze.

Picture Freeze

How to Play: This is similar to a cake walk.
Halloween pictures are scattered on the floor.
When the music begins the children walk
around or dance around. When the music stops all students must find a
picture to stand by (more than one student can share a picture). The leader
then will pick from a pile of smaller pictures that match the larger ones and
show the picture to the group. The person(s) who are standing on the
chosen picture wins. Play continues until it's time to rotate. Winners may
choose a prize from the prize bucket. Change groups when you hear,
Monster Mash and send group onto Pumpkin Waiter.
