51-252 is used on Starters
with 12-Tooth Drive (54-215).

Note that the center line “A” on the 51-238 aligns with the center line of the mounting hole.
On the 51-252, the center line “B” does not align with the mounting hole.
The 51-252 D.E. Housing can replace the 51-238 provided 51-252 is used with the 12-Tooth Drive (54-215).
Ford recommends replacing the 10-tooth Starter F0OY-11002-A or F2DZ-11002-A (2-1557-FD) with a 12-tooth Starter:
F3DZ-11002-B (2-1570-FD) to correct a condition that may be encountered on 1992-93 Ford SHO Taurus 3.0L where
the starter-motor cranking speed is inadequate, causing fuel flooding.
