Three of them are with engineering backgrounds from well-known universi es in the
fields of civil and mechanical which began from the founder and present Managing
Director who is having nearly four decades of industrial experience both locally and
globally. Director - Technical & Sales is also having nearly seven years’ experience in the
industry and the Director - Engineering & Services just joined the organiza on a er
gradua ng with B. Eng. (Hons) from the University of Newcastle in Australia.

From our humble beginnings in Colombo Sri Lanka, to our current posi on as the leading
supplier of Bearings and Machinery related Equipment in the island, Central Bearings &
Machinery (Pvt) Ltd has advanced and evolved by leaps and bounds since our incep on in
1989.

The founda on of CBM's growth is a profound understanding of our customers' needs, and

MILESTONES

1989 1989 - CBM was ini ally named as Central Bearings Lanka Enterprises and founded
with a staff strength of only 4 individuals in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

1996 The company was incorporated into Central Bearings (Pvt) Ltd.

2005 As the company expanded, CBM relocated to it’s current HQ with state of the art
facili es for both employees and customers alike. The company changed its name to
Central Bearings & Machinery (Pvt) Ltd.

2014 A second building was opened, fully equipped with a state of the art Distribu on
Centre and office space for opera ons of the Industrial Division was built to
accomodate CBM’s dedicated 70 employees.

2016 CBM expanded to the Engineering Services sector by opening it’s Industrial and
Engineering Services division with a commited team comprising of professional
Engineers and highly skilled Technicians

2021 CBM will establish a new Engineering Services Complex at Katunayake, Sri Lanka.
Construc on for CBM ENGINEERING (PVT) LTD is underway, with it being expected to
be fully opera onal by Q1 2022.

SHAFT ALIGNMENT

Misalignment present in machinery is a crucial risk and cost to produc on. It
leads to inefficiency, unreliability of the plant equipment which eventually risks
the safety of the operators. Extending the machine's reliability by u lizing the
use of laser alignment is a major factor in decreasing machine down me and
increasing protability.

There are 2 types of misalignment: Angular and Parallel misalignment
In Angular misalignment, the centerlines of both shafts lie at an angle to
each other instead of being parallel.
In Parallel misalignment, both the sha s centerlines are parallel, but they are offset by a distance.
