In the book, A Long Walk To Water, it explains who Nya and Salva are. In the
book, it also portrays what kind of people Nya and Salva are. In the book, most people
would say that Nya is a hard worker. On page 8 it states “She picked up another thorn
and used it to poke and prod at the first one. She pressed her lips together against the
pain.” Another example of this is when it states in the text, “ With the water balanced
on her head, and her foot still sore from the thorn, Nya knew that going home would
take longer than coming had.” This supports the idea that Nya works really hard even
when she is met with a challenge. In conclusion, Nya works really hard no matter what
the challenge.

From reading the book most people would say that Salva is strong-willed. On page
37 it says “But there was no water anywhere though they searched for miles. They
kept walking into the night and through the night.” Another example of this is when it
states in the text “ And one day at a time, the group made its way to Kenya. More than
twelve hundred boys arrived safely. It took them a year and a half.” This supports the
idea that Salva is willing to do anything no matter the challenge. To sum up Nya and
Salva both have to work hard all throughout the book.
