3 Preface As we set out to compile the "IT Pocket Dictionary," we give thanks to God for his unfailing grace and blessings that have illuminated our way. These supernatural forces have been instrumental in making this project a reality. 4 This project, which takes place in the framework of an English subject assignment, is an earnest attempt to simplify the complex world of information technology. 5 Welcome Statement Language is important means for human communication. It is used to make an interaction with other people in society and also it is used to express emotion, feeling, and opinion within the language. Vocabulary has an important role in all aspects of language skills. Someone cannot express his idea without has enough vocabulary. Vocabulary is one of the elements in four language skill, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Without understanding vocabulary, the students will be finding some difficulties. Therefore, the students must have knowledge
6 vocabulary because it can positively facilitate the students to use English effectively in their communication, in other words, it leads the students to use English well. The students cannot express their communicative needs (ideas, emotion) to someone clearly because have lacking vocabulary. The students cannot communicate and grasp someone ideas that are transmitted to their, therefore vocabulary is regarded as the most essential aspect in English. It does not only influence oral form, speaking and listening but also written and reading. Obviously, vocabulary affects the four language skills as a keg to succeed in mastering in those skills.
7 From the statement previously, it is fact that vocabulary is very important for those, who wants to master English well. There are many factor that the students will master English vocabulary such as the interest, motivation, or using some method in the classroom. To teach in the classroom the teacher should a good technique are preparation in teaching because the technique can help the students to understanding more the lesson This pocket dictionary is dedicated especially to readers who eagerly seek pedagogical applications of ICT in the practice of teaching English for specific purposes (ESP), including English for academic
8 purposes (EAP) as well as English for occupational purposes (EOP). It’s clear division into three parts, referring to these purposes, enables readers to easily find chapters concerning the subject of their interest. It is a precious source of multiple suggestions and guidelines supported by unique case studies for practitioners to understand the pedagogical principles proposed by scholars and educators. It can easily constitute a good foundation for readers who want to begin their ‘adventure’ with the use of ICT in their practice and to understand better the interrelationships between the benefits of ICT, the most popular uses of technological tools in authentic instruction, the pedagogical principles behind the integration of ICT into ESP
