“ BUT GOD WILL REDEEM MY LIFE FROM THE GRAVE;
HE WILL SURELY TAKE ME TO HIMSELF”
PSALM 49:15

OPENING PRAYER

God, our heavenly Father, you have taught us through your Son, that
we do not have a lasting city here on earth; therefore we should
always watch and pray, and be ready because we do not know when
you will call us. May this departure of (Name), our sister/brother
from this life prompt us to be always awake in faith, prayer and good
works. In your mercy and love, grant (Name) eternal rest and peace.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Word of God

A Reading from the Gospel of St. Matthew (25: 1-13)

Jesus spoke this parable to his disciples:
"The kingdom of heaven will be like this: Ten bridesmaids
took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Five of them were foolish and five were sensible; the
foolish ones did take their lamps, but they brought no oil,
whereas the sensible ones took flasks of oil as well as
their lamps. The bridegroom was late, and they all grew
drowsy and fell asleep. But at midnight there was a cry,
"The bridegroom is here! Go out and meet him."
At this, all those bridesmaids woke up and trimmed their
lamps, and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones,
"Give us some of your oil: our lamps are going out. But
they replied, "There may not be enough for us and for you;
you had better go to those who sell it and buy some for
yourselves.“

They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived.
Those who were ready went in with him to the wedding
hall and the door was closed. The other bridesmaids
arrived later. "Lord, Lord," they said, "open the door for
us". But hereplied, "I tell you solemnly, I do not know
you." So stay awake, because you do not know either the
day or the hour.'

The Word of the Lord.

again from the dead;

➢ Our Father, 3 Hail Mary’s & the Glory Be

The First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation

Leader:

It was Good News of Life to the world which was dead in sin. Mary
welcomed God's Word whole-heartedly.

Let us ask the Lord's pardon for the times we and our departed
sister/brother, (Name) have failed to welcome generously God's
Word of love, peace, reconciliation and conversion.

➢ Our Father, the 10 Hail Mary’s & the Glory Be
Leader: Eternal rest grant unto …………………, O Lord
All: And let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all
faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
All: Amen

The Second JoyfulMystery : The Visitation

Leader:
It was a beautiful act of charity on the part of Mary.
Was our departed sister/brother, (Name) well attended to during
periods of sickness; by the family, or by us, Christian neighbours?
Perhaps we are aware of her/his and our lack of charity
sometimes. Let us pray for the Lord's forgiveness.

➢ Our Father, the 10 Hail Mary’s & the Glory Be

Leader: Eternal rest grant unto …………………, O Lord
All: And let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all
faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
All: Amen

The Third Joyful Mystery : The Nativity of Our Lord

Leader:

Birth means life! Jesus' birth is remembered every year by the
whole world. We celebrate Christmas. We remember our own
birthdays. But do we ever remember the day of our New Birth ̶
the day of our Baptism?
Are we proud of this new birth? Have we supported one another
to live up to our vocation as God's chosen, holy nation?

We ask for the Lord's mercy for ourselves and for our departed
sister/brother.

➢ Our Father, the 10 Hail Mary’s & the Glory Be

Leader: Eternal rest grant unto …………………, O Lord
All: And let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all
faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
All: Amen

The Fourth Joyful Mystery:
The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple

Leader:

Jesus came to fulfil the Father's plan of bringing salvation to the
world. It was proper that He be presented to God.

All of us, together with our sister/brother, (Name) were presented to
God on the day of our Baptism.

But we are sadly aware of our frequent failures to fulfil the Father's
Holy Will. Let us pray that we may rise up in our Faith and Christian
living.

➢ Our Father, the 10 Hail Mary’s & the Glory Be
Leader: Eternal rest grant unto …………………, O Lord
All: And let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all
faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
All: Amen

The Fifth Joyful Mystery:
The Finding of the Boy Jesus in the Temple

Leader:

The boy Jesus was missing from their company. Let us reflect on the
anxiety of Mary and Joseph; they searched for Him relentlessly until
they found Him on the third day. There were times when we found
ourselves drifting away, or lost in our faith-life, or Christian living. We

are in no hurry to put things right, or to correct one another. Let us
pray for mercy.

➢ Our Father, the 10 Hail Mary’s & the Glory Be

Leader: Eternal rest grant unto …………………,, O Lord
All: And let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all
faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
All: Amen

Hail Holy Queen:

Leader:
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail our life, our sweetness
and our hope; To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to
thee do we send up our sighs, mourning, and weeping in this
valley of tears. Turn then, O most gracious Advocate, thine eyes
of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the
blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus,O clement, O loving, O sweet
Virgin Mary!

Leader : Pray for us O Holy Mother of God.
Response : That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Leader : Let us pray.

O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death, and Resurrection
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant we beseech
thee, that by meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy Rosary
of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and
obtain what they promise through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy
intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence I fly unto
thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I
stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise
not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
