Educational Requirements To qualify for BCaBA certification, you need to complete the following educational prerequisites: Bachelor’s Degree: Obtain a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. The degree does not need to be in a specific field, but coursework in psychology, education, or a related field is beneficial. Behavior Analysis Coursework: Complete Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst approved coursework in behavior analysis. The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) specifies that this coursework must cover the following areas: Ethical and Professional Conduct Concepts and Principles of Behavior Analysis Research Methods in Behavior Analysis Applied Behavior Analysis Additional coursework specific to behavior-analytic practices 2. Supervised Experience Accumulate supervised practical experience. There are two types of supervised experience that the BACB recognizes: Supervised Independent Fieldwork: This requires 1000 hours of supervised experience. Your supervisor must be a Board Certified Behavior BCABA Analyst (BCBA) or a BCBA-D (doctoral level). Practicum: This involves 670 hours of supervised experience within a structured, universitybased practicum setting. Intensive Practicum: This requires 500 hours of supervised experience, also within a structured, university-based setting.
