2003 to 2018 (service was then outsourced)
SEN transport team of 6 staff, 225 daily routes, 900 live passengers, own fleet and contracted
out routes. Annual budget in excess of £4.5 Million pounds. Operated from a depot with
additional SEN team using Mission live from the Council offices.
The Challenge
The system must process the daily management of vehicles, routes, drivers, PA’s, sched-
ules and passengers with complex special needs quickly and easily. Staff must have
quick search and find for all data in the system – especially phone and email details.
Supply a system that works for scheduling, daily despatch, accounts, remote SEN &
ASC staff, management costs, statistics and performance analysis. Specific requirements
for Provider Performance, Provider Conformance and staff training.
System has to run and be fully supported on the Barnet Council Intranet
The Solution
Mission installed our full web system and Mission staff customised all forms, reports
and processes to match the exact workflow processes of the LB Barnet SEN transport
team.
The Provider system was enhanced to give better analysis of provider’s performance for
compliance and costs clawback.
The Town Hall SEN teams were given access to the system to add new SEN panel

passengers for routing and scheduling, this was especially beneficial as travel for the assengers for routing and scheduling, this was especially beneficial as travel for the
new school year was being planned.

The Benefits
The Mission MPS software replaced a spreadsheet system that did not give the
multi-site and multi-user processing required. The transport team moved very
quickly to role based processing with forms and reports exactly suited to their
daily work. This lead to instant process and efficiency improvements.
Improved monthly financial and statistical analysis was available and by integrat-
ing with the Council SAP systems, true integrated processing cut down rekeying
accounts information each month.
Improved Provider management meant that services were better monitored and
inefficiency and non-compliance resolved by cost clawbacks.
Costs savings through improved processes and scheduling were estimated
to be worth around £225,000 per annum. Over the course of 15 years of
partnership with Mission this equates to around £3.4 million of cost savings.
