MIRACLE

Awed by a bundle of joy

The experience of witnessing the miraculous birth of her grandchild sends
Jyoti Marianne Bahri into a poetic rapture

58 LifePositive | JANUARY 2021

S ince my daughter-in-law Andrea’s baby had not turned and was stuck
with the umbilical cord around its neck, it was mandatory to have a
caesarian. But a day before the scheduled procedure, Andrea felt uneasy,
and the labour pains started. My son rushed her to the hospital, where they got
everything ready for an emergency intervention.

Invoking divine blessings
It was an exhilarating cool summer day in Germany. We all sat waiting in our
respective homes. I lit up a candle and burned incense in front of a statue of
Mother Mary. Deeply engrossed in prayers, Monika, Andrea’s mother, and I
evoked divine blessings to ward off all negative influences as they do occur at
crucial transition points in life. We asked for grace to be present. Situations like
this make me feel very humble. Often, we take for granted that things will go
well, and I realise that nothing is predictable, nothing is certain.

Birth, the transition into life, is a crucial part of the life cycle. It is an essential
rite of passage. I deeply connected and held my breath. I made space for the
new phase to take place in our lives in gratitude and surrender. I had already
sat in the early morning hours and cleared the energies. I took Andrea and the
baby one by one into my inner heart space, prayed for their well-being, and
healed that part in me. I requested my ancestors’ lineage to help release the
old patterns and attachments, and bless the mother and the unborn child. I
visualised the shields coming in to protect them from unnecessary negativity
and evil interferences. Now, finally, the time had come to welcome the child.

Connecting with the baby, I could feel the intensity of the moment and the
medical procedure of bringing the child safely into this world. I could feel
the trust that everything was going well. I sat quietly and watched the circle
of related people and beings widening around the mother and the child, all
waiting patiently to welcome him with open arms—delighted about his arrival.

Beholding the baby
The atmosphere in the room grew more intense moment by moment. Suddenly,
as if the sky had opened, an incredible influx of light appeared and filled the
