First Team avoided relegation despite many setbacks through the season, finishing nineteenth, and the Reserves ended up in tenth place having also suffered setbacks during the season. 2015-16 Unquestionably the Club’s most successful season since the Vase win in 1975. Third in the SSMFL, the best League campaign since 1970/71, top of the table for 8 weeks, a Club record-breaking run of four tie wins and seven games in the FA Cup in reaching the 3rd Qualifying Round for only the second time, (four wins, two draws and a replay defeat) and winners of the SSMFL Premier Division Cup. A rebuilt side acquitted itself well with a final placing of seventh, a Club record of 93 goals in SSMFL Premier Division football, and retention of the SSMFL Premier Division Cup with a 1-0 win against Wembley at Oxhey Jets. Reserves made a fourth appearance in five seasons in the Challenge Trophy but were beaten 3-0 by a strong Hertford side. Tom Cowell equalled a modern-day Club League scoring record with five of the seven goals scored against St. Margaretsbury. All the ground infrastructure work was finally completed during the course of the season. Bill Moye, Manager of the Vase winning side passed away in March 2017. 2017-18 Manager Paul Halsey walked out in January 2017, and after a short spell of interim management, Simon Riddle took over and was appointed for 2018/19. A final place of twelfth in the table was a relief after much player turbulence over 2 or 3 months. After the season ended, the Club learned it had been moved laterally to the Essex Senior League, thus ending a 34-year association with the (Spartan) South Midlands League. A full appeal hearing at the FA failed to have the decision reversed. The Reserves ended the season 3rd in the Development Division table, but after much consideration, an application was made for the Reserves to join the Herts. Senior County League for 2018/19. A very successful Under-18 squad formed the backbone of the First Team for the final few games of the season. Former Club Treasurer and stalwart supporter, Bob Parker, passed away at the age of 93 in May 2018. 2018-19 An historic season for the Club as the First Team took its place in the 20-club Essex Senior League, and the Reserves once again joined the Herts. Senior County League, this time in an 18-club Division One. Ninth place for the First Team and fourth for the Reserves reflected what was considered to be a satisfactory season for both teams. Having reached the semi-finals of the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy the First Team lost 2-1 to a very strong Barkingside Reserves side, but the Final was not played due to issues that occurred in the other semi-final. Stalwart of the successful side of the 80s and early 90s with 300 appearances, John Walton, passed away at the age of 64. 2019-20 Thanks to Covid-19 the season was declared null and void in late March, with the Lilywhites in seventh place in the table, and the Reserves fifth at Step 7. One of the FA Vase Final stars, Les Picking, passed away in March 2020. The First Team also lost out on a chance to make the Challenge Trophy semi-finals when their thricepostponed quarter final tie became a victim of the pandemic. 2020-21 Another season affected by Covid-19 with two lockdowns. Only thirteen League and eight cup games played, four of those in the Len Cordell Memorial Cup/Plate, the Lilywhites winning the latter 3-0 in the Final against Woodford Town. New, young Reserves side did well in what was a very short season for them. A new pitch rail was constructed around three sides of the pitch to upgrade the ground even further. Former Assistant Manager and general manager Jimmy Briggs passed away in early 2021 2021-22 Roger Merton stepped down as Chairman after 26 years in the role, and he was replaced by Stuart Varney. After a poor Covid-19 affected start to the season, the First Team picked up in the second half and finished in 15th place. Having reached the semi-finals of the Errington Challenge Trophy they were beaten 3-0 by a very good Enfield side. A young Reserves squad also acquitted themselves well in the second half of the season and ended the campaign in 13th place. A sad season for the Lilywhites as former Club stalwart Richard Lorimer and former First Team Manager Tommy Barnett both passed away. Following the season end the Club was informed it was being moved back to the Spartan South Midlands League for the 2022/23 campaign following two full and two truncated seasons in the Essex Senior League.

Leighton Town 4 Arlesey Town. 0 Leighton Town claimed their crown as Champions the week before but with them due to lift the trophy on Arlesey's visit, Arlesey were expecting a big crowd and a tough night. Arlesey clapped the Champions onto the pitch with a guard of honour at the start as Leighton fielded a full strength team. Leighton pressed forward fromvthe very start with a throw that was well cleared by Dan Wappett. On the next attack James Towell pulled the ball back to Leon Lobjoit but he was well stopped by a good tackle by Alex Taylor. As Leighton kept up the pressure a great run by Kyle Connolly saw him find Lobjoit who hit a great low shot past the stranded Ollie Skinner into the corner of the net for 1-0 after just 5 mins. Arlesey tried to counter; Reece Crowter worked into the box and found Vinnie Baker whose shot was put out for a corner but a foul was given against Arlesey that cleared any problems for the home side. A good move by Luke Pyman to Lobjoit saw him find Reece Robins who hit a shot that hit the post and went clear enabling Crowter to break down the wing and he cut in and hit a low shot that was taken by the keeper. A great ball from Bruno Brito found Crowter who attacked into the box, but he slightly lost his footing and it was cleared straight down the other end, the cross in was cleared by Wappett to James Towell who hit a good snap shot just past the post. Tonye Joseph found Crowter and he attacked and cut in hitting a shot that was taken by the keeper. A great tackle by Baker on Archie Mcclelland saw him pump a great ball up the line to Crowter who crossed into Rory Busby but he was stopped by a tight O/S flag. A Leighton corner was well claimed amongst a crowd by Skinner but the next Leighton attack saw the ball come to Lobjoit again and again he hit a low controlled shot that hit the base of the post and bounced back onto Skinners back as he dived before bouncing in for 2-0 on 25mins. Leighton kept up the pressure; Towell passed onto Ben Spaul who crossed into Lobjoit but it was, well taken by Skinner. A long ball saw Mcclelland through and Skinner quickly came out and beat him to it by heading the ball, Skinner looked fouled but it wasn't given. Arlesey replaced Kendall Gyamfi who didn't look fully fit after his injury on Saturday with Will Mcclelland and reorganised. A ball over to Lobjoit saw him dispossessed by Baker and he stayed down and after treatment he left the field. A great ball out by Baker saw him almost find Busby but again he was pulled up for O/S. Leighton eventually replaced Lobjoit with Lewis Toomey. An Arlesey FK from Wappett just missed Will Mcclelland and went out, for a while the game had lost a little of its earlier intensity as half time approached but a cross in found Archie Mcclelland who headed onto Toomey but it was well cut out by Skinner. In added time a FK by Connolly was well cleared by Dan Udanoh leaving it at 2-0 at the break. From a Leighton throw the ball was cleared to Crowter who fed Busby in and he hit a shot that went narrowly past the post. MATCH REPORT CHRIS STERRY A A couple of Leighton corners were cleared Busby found Crowter well who crossed into Baker whoes shot was blocked but it came to Wappett who crossed in, but it was well cleared in front of Busby.A foul by Toomey on Wappett saw the Leighton forward booked. 2 minutes later he latched onto a throw and hit a great low shot past Skinner intobthe bottom corner of the net for 3-0 on the hour mark. A low shot was well saved by Skinner as Leighton kept pressing, but at the other end Taylor attacked into the box and went down under a tackle but nothing was given and the ball came to Busby who shot but again he was blocked. A good turn and shot by Busby was taken by the keeper before he was replaced after running all night for little reward by Joe Abe. Arlesey were generally holding Leighton at this point but they always had capacity to" turn up the wick" and on 80 mins a cross in saw Toomey stick out a leg and guid the ball just inside the post for 4-0. Arlesey replaced Crowter with Coree Wilson Abe was fouled on the edge of the area but the FK from Joseph was wide and over the bar. Leighton replaced their keeper with the game safe as Kevin Marsh came on. As Leighton kept up the pressure Toomey headed over the bar and a ball o er the top found Toomey whoes shot was also just over the bar. Taylor was booked for 0ne foul to many and this FK was also put over the bar. In added time a good ball found Abe who outpaced his defender and with Wilson filling in centrally in a great position, Abe hit his shot in the box just over the bar when the other option might have been the better choice. A final home attack saw,a good cross field move that ended with a shot into the side net, leaving it at 4-0 and the trophy lifting ceremony for Leighton. Leighton were too good for Arlesey on the night carried on a waive of "feel good factor" of lifting the league Champions trophy in front of their home fans but Arlesey didn't give in and kept them "honest" to the end. One more game to go and its a big one v Hoddesdon at home on Saturday and Arlesey will be looking to complete their season with a win.
