CHORAL SPEAKING SCRIPT All: Good morning and a very good day to the honourable judges, dear teachers and fellow friends. All: Today, we, from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jementah would to share with you our interesting point of view about money. Half: Kaching! Student 1: What is that? Half: Kaching! Student 1: What is that? Student 2: That is the sound of money coming out from the cash register. Student 1: Owh, I better check my bank account. All: Teet…teet…teet All: Your remaining balance is only RM10. Student 1: Oh, my goodness! All: Ish… ish… ish… All: Money…. Money…… Money Why money is so important? Money is one of the most important things that we need to survive in this world. We need to buy a variety of items for ourselves, ranging from the simplest to the largest. Student 3: Like what? All: We could use the money to buy food, clothes and other necessary items that we need. We should spend our money wisely and not used them to buy things that we don’t need it. All: Earning money is important, but saving money is equally important if we spend it wisely in our daily lives. A wise man once said that if you save money today, the money you save in the future will save you in the future. In the end, if you work hard and spend all your money then you are wasting your time and energy. It is also important to save some money so that you will be able to provide for your own needs in the future and in emergencies. Student 4: But? How can we spend and save at the same time? All: Well, there are 3 main ways to spend and save money at the same time. First, you must create a budget. Student 5: Budget? What is a budget? All: Budgets are plans that you create for saving and spending money that you have. A budget is actually an estimation of how much money you are likely to make and spend over a specific period of time. All: Second, avoid overspending. The idea of planning to purchase something in advance is a good one. If you want to save money, you should spend it on things you actually need, rather than on things you want. Student 6: Wait! What? I cannot buy anything that I like? Student 7: Gucci….. Student 8: Makeup….


Student 9: BTS…. All: No…. No…. No…. Make a checklist of the items that you need to get before you go shopping. This will be helpful in preventing overspending. Student 10: Is that all? All: No! The last one is savings! Student 11: What is savings? All: Saving is the act of putting aside money so that you can use it when you need it. You should set aside some cash for any unexpected situations. We need to be extra be careful since someday, unexpected things might happen to us. Student 12: Owh, I see. All: Ladies and gentleman, The world revolves and runs on money. Our requirements are met, and having money also makes us happy and satisfied. Money can buy us anything, but it cannot buy everything. Therefore, we should start learning from an early age on how to spend and save money. That is all from us. Thank you for listening.
