The Melanau's traditional area is in the southern coastal wetlands of Sarawak, between the city of Bintulu and the Rajang River. The manufacturing of starch by the Melanau people from the sago palms that surround their settlements is particularly well-known. The Melanau are believed to have migrated to the shore from the interior centuries ago and are culturally and linguistically related to some inland peoples to the southeast. Some local Melanau speakers perceive the dialects as different languages since they diverge so dramatically from those spoken in the regions southwest. The Melanaus arrived in Central Sarawak in the 19th century and established several small settlements along the Rajang River's major tributaries. They favour the names Melanau and A-Likou. The phrase "dayak," which was once used by Westerners to refer to a resident of Borneo, is inappropriate for the majority of Melanau because they already have their own identity and culture as A-Likou (Melanau). Melanau or troublesome Kajang-speaking tribes like the Sekapan, Rajang, Tanjung, and Kanowit slowly relocated and integrated into Dayak migrations, settling in the Rajang. The socalled Klemantan people were thought to include the Melanau people as a subgroup. The Melanau are regarded as among of Sarawak's first settlers. The Melanau did not until recently refer to themselves by the name Melanau. They refer to themselves as "people of the river," or a-likou. According to legend, the Malays of Brunei gave the people who lived on the coastal marsh flats and riverbanks of central Sarawak the name Melanau, which may be a translation of the word "coast-dweller". Since the word Malano has been used to refer to the area in historical records of literature and maps from Western, Chinese, and Javanese sources even before the founding of Brunei Kingdom, this account cannot be regarded as a credible source for the name. In Sarawak, Malaysia, Brunei, and the coastal region of the Rajang delta on northwest Borneo, people speak Melanau, an Austronesian language. Several dialects exist, including Mukah-Oya, Balingian, Bruit, Dalat, Lawas, Igan, Sarikei, Segahan, Prehan, Segalang, and Siteng. INTRODUCTION
A flip book, flipbook, flicker book, or kineograph is a booklet featuring a series of images that very gradually change from one page to the next, giving the impression of motion or other changes when the pages are quickly turned. Flip books are frequently illustrated children's books, but they can also be written for adults and use a series of images in place of illustrations. Flip books can appear as a bonus feature in regular books or periodicals and usually use the page corners; they are not always standalone books. Digital video recordings can also be transformed into unique flip books using software tools and websites. For this flipbook, we chose to do the Melanau language. In the Mukah dialect, Melanau or A-Likou refers to an ethnic group that is native to Sarawak, Malaysia. They were among Sarawak's first settlers. They communicate using the Melanau language, which is a member of the MalayoPolynesian branch of languages spoken in North Borneo. The benefit of this project is that we can introduce to them the language of Melanau for their own good and also make sure that they learn about the language properly. THEME
OBJECTIVE • To encourage readers and users of the flipbook. • To make vocabulary learning easier by giving simple and straightforward descriptions, explanations, and examples. • To help children in understanding difficult concepts or process.
PURPOSE A dictionary's primary purpose is to define words, but it can also offer details on pronunciation, grammatical structures, etymologies, syntactic quirks, alternative spellings, and antonyms. A dialect language dictionary is necessary because some words may have more than one meaning when being translated from one language to another. Students who desire to master the language abilities they want to learn will find this dialect dictionary to be of great assistance. Students also can expand their vocabulary, learn how to pronounce words correctly, and enhance their reading comprehension. Yet, a dictionary is one among the most crucial things students should have when attending college. An excellent dictionary can enhance student comprehension of the material, their ability to communicate, and their academic performance.
TARGET AUDIENCE Children in early elementary school, preschoolers, and occasionally older children who like art and animation are the target audience for flipbooks. Flipbooks are easy-to-use yet enjoyable tools that may attract children' attention and encourage their imaginations. Children can find enjoyment and stimulation in the animation produced by turning the pages, which helps to develop their creativity and ability to tell story.
