Let’s get ready for
the MANE event, Lions!!!
I can already feel the excitement of Friday night lights!
What an awesome opportunity our athletes, cheerleaders, dance team, and band members
have to show North Texas how great it is to live in Frisco! If this is your first season as a
Lion fan, welcome to the den. We’re always ready to celebrate our kids
with new and fresh faces. If you’re a veteran fan, welcome back!
Get ready to ROAR!
Our students have put in countless hours preparing for
each and every contest. Their commitment is evident in
the quality and class they bring to the field and to Frisco
ISD as a district. We are so fortunate to have three
fabulous stadiums in which to play and show o our
talents. Not a weekend goes by without an opponent
returning home in awe of our facilities.
Frisco has always prided themselves with great kids but also with
great coaches. Our coaching sta is comprised of men and women
of high repute and outstanding knowledge in their fields. Only
the best candidates are given the privilege of wearing a Frisco
ISD coaching shirt and mentoring to our young people. Many
thanks to them for the many hours they spend working with
and planning for our children. The dedication they show to
their careers is apparent on and o the playing field.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy seeing poetry in motion!
The night is sure to be exciting, and I hope you jump
right in the middle of it all!
Play on!

CAMPUS NAMESAKE
DR. RICK REEDY
AN EDUCATOR FOR 43 YEARS, Rick Reedy, Ed.D., served the students of the Frisco Independent School District for 37 years as a teacher and
coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent.
He grew up in Whitesboro, Texas, and obtained all three of his degrees from what is now Texas A&M Commerce. His mother was an educator
and several of the six children and 12 grandchildren also became educators.
UNPRECEDENTED GROWTH AND CHANGE,During his 16-year tenure as superintendent, the District experienced growing from 3,700 students to almost
43,000, and from 433 employees to 5,400. As the fastest growing school district in the nation for the past 20 years and with a community
vision focused on smaller schools, FISD grew from five schools to 56, passing four bond referendums totaling over $1.6 billion. Under his
leadership and that of City Manager George Purefoy, the City of Frisco and the Frisco ISD relationship resulted in several unique public-private
partnership endeavors including the construction of Dr Pepper Ballpark, what is now Toyota Stadium, and Dr Pepper Arena, saving tax dollars
and providing great opportunities for students.
W ,ITH STUDENTS ALWAYS FIRST Dr. Reedy worked early in his superintendency
to form the Frisco Education Foundation, which had given out more than $2
million in scholarships and $330,000 in grants for innovation in April of 2013
when the Reedy High School was named.
,While Superintendent, Dr. Reedy served on MANY BOARDS AND COMMITTEES AT
THE STATE AND LOCAL LEVEL including the UIL Legislative Committee. Due to
his leadership and influence, Dr. Reedy has been honored with the Frisco
Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year award and as a Living Legend in
2009 by the Collin College Foundation. In 2013 he was presented the
Chamber’s Visionary Award and was awarded the National Lifetime
Achievement Award by the Council of PTAs. He was also named Person of the Year by Frisco Style Magazine.
T G C A H FEXAS IRLS OACHES SSOCIATION ALL OF AMEMost recently, in July 2017, Dr. Reedy was inducted into the for his achievements as a coach
and contributor to the coaches association, and for his accomplishments as an administrator and service on the UIL Legislative Council.
He and his wife, the Rev. Judith Reedy, have been married 45 years and have three sons, all graduates of FHS. Two are educators. Their five
grandchildren are in line to be proud FISD graduates as well.

Who is your sports hero?
Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Brad Stevens
How do you celebrate a Reedy win?
In the locker room, I will kick something and jump around and yell. At home,
I just relax at home with my wife and enjoy the feeling of winning.
LION CROSS COUNTRY What is the best piece of advice you have been given when it comes to
competing and overcoming adversity in sports?
HEAD COACH “When nothing seems to help,I go back and look at the stonecutter
hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a
crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did
it — but all that had gone before.” It just means keep going, keep trying, don’t give up when you fail, because
at some point with enough persistence, even the most insignificant people can accomplish great things.
