THE TRUTHFUL CHILD
In a very far away land, lived a boy named Ahmed. Ahmed was 10 year old boy. He lived
with his widower mother in a small house which belonged to his maternal grandfather.
It was very difficult for them to find a meagre meal for a day.
One day, Ahmed’s mother decided to send Ahmed to learn business from his only
uncle, who lived in another country. She sold some of her ornaments to collect money
for Ahmed’s journey. On the following day, Ahmed got ready with lots of excitement.
As Ahmed was very small, his mother worried that he would be easily fooled and the
money would get stolen by somebody. Hence, she stitched a small pocket beneath the
right sleeve of his shirt and hid the money there. She caressed him with love and said,
“whatever be the situation, tell truth and be brave.”
She also warned him to beware of strangers and use the money only when needed.
Keeping in mind, all the advice given by his mother, Ahmed set out for the journey
through the ship with a small bag containing all his clothes. It was the first time he was
travelling alone. Stuck in deep thoughts, admiring the beauty of nature and the beautiful
creatures within the sea, he gazed the blue sea beneath him.
Suddenly, there was a great hustle-bustle in the ship behind him. He turned back and
noticed that a group of robbers had jumped in through a small boat next to the ship.
Thrilled and frightened, he looked around. The robbers were snatching money, jewellery
and other items from the passengers. The leader of the group was very dark and scary
looking man. He was looking at everybody and ordering his companions to rob the
passengers quickly. He suddenly saw Ahmed. Ahmed tried to stand firm as his legs
started to shiver. The leader approached Ahmed and laughed aloud and said, “Afraid
little brat! Let’s see what you have got”
Saying this, he snatched the bag from Ahmed and dropped all the contains down on
the floor, “No money?” asked the leader. He thought as the boy is small, he must not
have carried any money with him and turned to leave. Suddenly, Ahmed cried out loudly
and bravely. “I do have money. Its here.”

He directed his fingers beneath his right sleeve. Amazed and shocked by Ahmed’s
reaction, the leader checked beneath his right sleeve of course, there was money. The
leader was amused by Ahmed. He fell over his knees on the floor and said, “why you
young lad, did you tell me about the money? I wouldn’t have figured it out myself and
you could have been left with a money.”
Ahmed with innocent face ad disciplined manner, replied, “sir my mother has taught
me to be honest, truthful and brave in every situation. I couldn’t let my mother down by
lying to you.”
Tears rolled down in the eyes of the leader. He said, “Being a small boy, you are so
truthful and honest. I feel ashamed of robbing you. I have been so wrong by becoming
a thief for so long.”
Saying this, he apologized to every one present in the ship, returned their belongings
and left with his companions. The passengers praised Ahmed and thanked him. The
journey was commenced. Ahmed become a very well-known and respected businessman.
His mother was very proud of him.

THE STORY OF THE AWESOME TWINS
“Come on Alex, let’s play something; stop reading your book when we’re on a
vacation!” yelled Alexa 3rd time to Alex. “Come right now or I will literally drag you here!”
“Alright, alright I came” said Alex half panting. “And by the way I wasn’t reading
a book, I was reading an encyclopedia”.
“Yeah like there is a difference between them, well never mind come help me make
the biggest sand castle ever”
“Fine whatever”
Alex and Alexa were twins and had very similar characteristics like the color of
their eye which was a striking blue color or their similar looks and the prettiest thing
about them was that they both had similar bracelets which signified that they were
always together and the main and the biggest difference between them was that Alex
was all into academics and science and stuff whereas Alexa on the other hand was totally
opposite and had decided to continue in karate and had also acquired the highest Dan in
karate at the age of 13!
But even after hours of sand-castling both of them had not even accomplished
one floor of the castle all thanks to the waves, the seagulls and the clumsy efforts of
Alex.
“Well I’m beat; we will never be able to make a sand castle and there are literally
a thousand dinos running in my stomach so I’m going to get something to eat” declared
Alexa while standing brushing off all the extra sand stuck to her clothes.
“Hey Al, look at that!” exclaimed Alex calling by her nick name.
Not from where they were; they saw a strange looking silhouette against the
setting sun and that silhouette looked of an animal most certainly not from any of the
95 | P a g e
JOHNIANS FABLES- SJPS 2020 Children’s Day Release
animals they had known. The shadow of that creature was peculiarly similar to the hoax
of loch ness monster but this time the creature was more specific with spikes protruding
from its back and a strange anatomical structure.
“I say we follow it!” said Alexa jumping up and down. She was practically shouting.
“What! Are you crazy? We can’t follow that; we have to inform mom and dad.”
“Oh come on! Stop being a cry baby” said Al as she dragged her brother to the
nearest speed boat and started the throttle.
****
“Since when did you figure out to drive a speed boat? Asked Alex with a shaky
breath.
They had been travelling for almost 20 minutes when they came to a halt at the
entrance of a sea cave where they had seen the monster go in.
When the twins entered the cave, it turned out to be a total disappointment.
There was nothing there; just a simple monolith.
“Well looks like we’re going to have to go back” said Alexa with a huge sigh. But
as soon as they we’re about to leave, things started to shake. At first they thought it
was just a simple tremor but when the shakings got worse, the monolith almost
immediately changed its physical state as it turned from solid to liquid and then came
crashing down on the twins and swallowing them both and regaining its form again.
****
“Where are we?” asked Alex coughing and checking his surroundings. Apparently
when the monolith had swallowed them it had somehow acted as a bridge between two
places and transported them to some place called they-don’t-know-where. Alex’s twin
sister was still unconscious from the collision which she had with a giant rock boulder
when they had fallen into the forest. As Alex stood he noticed that the surroundings
were mostly tropical filled with exotic trees and lush forest floors but there was
something abnormal about the animals. All the species of animals including the aerial and
the terrestrial ones supposed to be extinct. Alex wowed in amazement as he saw the
mighty Pterodactyls swore through the sky and the little dodos trotting through the
forest.
“Amazing!” bellowed Alexa as she stood up brushing the dirt of her hair. ”Where
are we?” she asked her brother.
96 | P a g e
JOHNIANS FABLES- SJPS 2020 Children’s Day Release
“Someplace we’re not supposed to be, I guess” muttered Alex.
“Exactly” said a raspy voice behind them. ”Forgive the sudden interruption but I am
Jurek, keeper of the lost animals and right now you are in Loamnore. One of the many
sanctuaries for lost animals.”
The figure, who called himself Jurek, also looked like a monster himself. He had
a very wrinkly bald head, with two glossy and beady eyes. But the most noticeable
feature of him was the long pointy ears and the sleek, black forked tongue of his.
“So who are you, again?” asked Alex not realizing anything he had said.
“I am Jurek, a goblin—” and as soon as he said it both the twins’ jaw fell straight
to the ground.
“So you guys are real, like reeeeeeeeaaallly real?” asked Alexa who was the first
to come out of the shock.
“Yes Ms. Alexa, many of the mythical and folklore creatures are real but most of
the human legends are false about us and we are not what you think we are.” He said
with a polite nod.
“So where exactly are we?” asked Alex next.
“Right now we are inside the Rocky mountain range in North America, and before you
ask any further questions let me finish; there are several intelligent mythical species
out there that have formed a sort of peace treaty to live in harmony and the goblins
are one of them. The elves had asked the dwarves to dig out this mountain range so that
they could give a shelter to these lost creatures” explained Jurek.
“Okaaay that explains a lot but we still need to get to our parents. They’ll be
worried sick of us” said Alex in an urgent manner.
“For that I will need to take both of you to The Confederacy and they will carry
you for the rest of the journey. And The Confederacy is an alliance of the leaders of all
the intelligent beings.”
“But how are we going to get there?” questioned Alexa.
“We will be travelling through a method called Ley Leaping. On our Earth, there
are many invisible energy lines in the atmosphere forming a large network. With the help
of special crystals we are able to jump on these energy lines and go anywhere.”
“Wow” both the twins said in unison.
****
“Whoa, please remind me to never do that again” said Alex as they landed after
the leaping in front of 7 majestic castles.
97 | P a g e
JOHNIANS FABLES- SJPS 2020 Children’s Day Release
“Yeah, me too” agreed Alexa while clenching her stomach tightly.
“Welcome to Legendaria, the home of the 7 confederates” announced Jurek. “If
you are to return to your home, go through the middle castle and you shall find your
path”. And with that jurek bid them farewell and leaped back to the forest-place.
“So should we go then?” asked Alexa after Jurek left.
“Of course we need to go, it’s nearly midnight in the human world” answered Alex.
As the twins entered, they noticed the hall was surprisingly empty. Just two empty
chairs waited for them.
“Welcome Alex and Alexa” boomed a voice somewhere in front of them.
“If you are to go to the human world, sit on the chairs and your wish will be
granted.” Boomed another voice behind them.
As the twins went to sit on the chairs, yet another voice spoke but with a little
less booming. “Before you go, let me share something with you. Generations ago we
creatures had also made a peace treaty with the humans to ensure complete harmony.
But as it turned out the humans betrayed us telling that the supreme power should be
with them. And even right now, humans don’t care about others, they just care about
themselves. They destroy nature and create weapons of mass destruction just for their
selfish, petty reasons. We could have had a war with them but instead we chose to run
away and hide ourselves and now we realize that we made a grave mistake that day. Right
now the entire intelligent mythical creature population is preparing for a war. A war with
humans straight to the death.”
As soon as the voice spoke the last sentence, both of them stopped right on their
tracks as every line on their face turned into confusion. “But that will be mass
extinction” countered Alex.
“We don’t care about extinction, humans slaughtered and enslaved millions of us,
and now we will repay them back.” That voice almost spat the last word. “And you can do
nothing now…”
Both twins felt to respond in some retaliation but what the mysterious voice said
was also true. Humans were bringing their end themselves. But before they could do
anything they felt an invisible push trying to pull them towards the chairs. No matter
how hard they tried, nothing could stop it. By now they were already seated on the
chairs—totally against their will—and ready to go back to the human world. The war had
begun and no one could stop it. All they could do was just watch.

“NERDS ARE COOL”
This is an interesting incident which happened in a country called ImagiNATION. There
was a beautiful girl named Lexi who was the most curious person in her grade. Every
time a question was asked, her hand was always the first to punch the air. She was the
class topper, shortly followed by Candace.
One day when she was preparing for a debate with her best friend Candace, on the topic
“Nerds are cool” when a few people approached her and told her that she is so not cool
and that being a nerd is weird . Lexi felt really hurt and cried her eyes out, so Candace
gave her a beautiful blue leather hat that matched her eyes to make her feel a little
better.
The leader of the class gang, Isabelle, like many others who complimented her wanted
a hat like hers. So she stuck up a deal with Candace, saying that she should give her hat
to Isabelle if her friend did not win the debate. But Candace cleverly said that she
would make Lexi eat her hat in front of them all if her friend lost the debate but if she
did eat it, then you have to accept that Nerds are actually cool. They shook their hands
to seal the deal.
They had no idea that someone was watching them.
Unfortunately, on the day of the debate, Lexi happens to have fever, so she is unable
to compete. But Isabelle still demands them to fulfil their deal.
When Lexi heard about it after she got well, she wasn’t worried in the slightest.
That day in their Chemistry class in which the teacher was absent, Isabelle and her
cronies asked her to eat the hat. So Lexi cut off a piece of the hat and dissolved it in
acid and neutralized it with a base, therefore making it water before pouring it down
her throat.
The look on Isabelle’s face was priceless; she simply gaped at her, not able to say
anything.
“I guess knowing stuff is actually cool” Isabelle finally admitted and then she turned to
Lexi and Candace and apologized “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t take it when you top the class
every time and I barely manage to pass the class”

FRIENDSHIP IS A SUNSHINE
I am N.Joshan, I wish to deliver the sequence of happenings encircled around one of my

Basically Naresh is an active student who was known for his dedication towards studies
as well as sports activities. As he was regular and punctual to school as well as showing
his talents in studies, he was well encouraged by all the teachers and appreciated by
class mates and other students in the school.
Above all, his qualities like being disciplined, respecting seniors, parents and teachers,
good at studies earned him good name in the school among all students, parents and
teachers of the school.
His academic performances stood high until quarterly examinations got over. After the
quarterly exams holidays, when school was reopened, every one of us obviously were
noticing remarkable changes in his attitude towards maintaining discipline in all of his
activities. Particularly speaking, he became irregular to school, his subject concentration
level had gone down which led him to perform poor in his studies. The drastic change of
his performance led him down and so his parents were called for knowing the reason
behind it.
Though he might know the reason himself which diverted him away from his studies, he
didn't disclose it out. Being a good friend of him I was friendly with him in such a way
to comfort him to reveal the reason behind.

The moment he revealed the correct reason for his downfall in studies, I decided to

Because of my father's efforts, he realised his mistakes and by following my father's

DREAM COME TRUE!
Once there were two boys named George and Peter. They were aboard a pirate
ship, imprisoned by the fearsome Captain Hook, who insisted that they had to be pirates
like their fathers. George wanted to be a cricketer while Peter wanted to be a wildlife
photographer. But with Captain Hook around, none of that was possible. One stormy
night, the ship got wrecked. The boys found this as the perfect chance to escape and
jumped into the icy water. They swam all night and reached a deserted island. There
they met a wise old wizard who told them to follow his map to fulfil their destiny. So,
they set out on their adventure.
First, they reached a bridge across a deep trench. They started walking nervously
over the bridge one after the other. Peter crossed first. While George was crossing,
the bridge broke in half. Luckily, they were holding on to the same end and Peter pulled
George up and saved him.

would it roll?”
George said, “But roosters don’t lay eggs!”. The Giant conceded and grudgingly let them
pass.
Continuing their quest, the boys reached a river of lava guarded by a grumpy pixie.
They learn from the map that pleasing her would turn the lava into water, allowing them
to cross it easily. George learnt how to make up songs on the pirate ship and quickly sang
to the pixie:
“Oh, Mighty Pixie, how wonderful are you!
Great Pixie guarding the river of Lava too.
When the people want to pass
One special task on hand you have
Oh, Fantastic Pixie, how I admire you!”
The pixie was pleased, and the lads swam across the river. 105 | P a g e

When they reached the other side of the river, the map whispered in an eerie

swords appeared out of thin air, in front of their eyes. Their pirate genes kicked into
action and they were quickly up in the air swishing their swords at the beast. A great
fight ensued and finally, the children subdued the beast, made it their guardian through
the treacherous forest and continued the journey.
A little later, they reached a lake full of vicious tiger sharks. The Beast leapt
forward and frightened the sharks. It carried them across the lake to the Tree of
Desire, where they ate the delicious fruits.
Soon enough, George opened his eyes and found himself right in the middle of a
cricket stadium holding a bat with crowd cheering around him. Meanwhile, Peter found
himself in luscious marshlands surrounded by several varieties of birds, holding a hi-
tech camera. This was a dream come true for both!

PEER PRESSURE
In a beautiful city of Antares lived a boy named Arnold. Arnold was a 6-year-old boy
who likes playing with his friends Lokesh, Meena, Rohan and Maggie. His parents love
him dearly as he is their only son.
It was Rohan’s birthday today. Arnold was very excited to give his gift to Rohan. He
made a greeting card for him the other day. A few minutes later, Rohan came to school.
Everyone surrounded him; Many showered him with greetings and gifts while some asked
for chocolates. He was pretty popular among his classmates for being helpful. Arnold
made his way through the crowd and gave his card before the teacher intervened. She
asked the students to sit in their respective places and be well-behaved.
It was lunchtime for Arnold and his classmates. The students were buzzing with
excitement as it was time for Rohan to distribute the chocolates. Some students kept
yelling at Rohan to give them candies. But the teacher did a great job of settling the
students.
It was time for Rohan to give out the sweets. He made sure to give everyone candies.
He also made sure that each person took only one candy as Rohan needed to take one-
fourth of the sweets back home. The teacher helped him with this task.
Later that afternoon, Arnold and his friends Lokesh, Meena and Maggie decided to chat.
They talked about Rohan’s candies and how badly they wanted more. They devised a plan
to steal his treats. Arnold didn’t want to be a part of their scheme as he knows how
awful stealing is. But his friends insisted him in helping them steal. He agreed to help as
this is probably his first and last time stealing.
It was evening in Antares. Arnold and his friends were hiding behind a bench, waiting
for Rohan to leave the classroom. As soon as he left, Lokesh dashed to
Rohan’s bag, stole his candy box and left the classroom with Arnold, Maggie and Meena.
They hid the box in the lumber-room of the school.
Meanwhile, Rohan had returned to the classroom and realized his candy box was gone!
He searched for it everywhere but wasn’t able to find it. The teachers offered to help
Rohan search for it.

It was almost time for them to leave school. Rohan was panicking. He hasn’t got his candy
box back. The teachers interrogated every child in the class, but no one suspected the
group. Arnold felt very bad for Rohan. He decided to tell his teachers the truth. Rohan
and the teachers were shocked after hearing Arnold’s story. His friends were angry at
Arnold for snitching on them. The teachers were displeased by their behaviour. Rohan
was delighted that he told the truth. Arnold was happy that Rohan still wanted to be his
friend.

CHILDREN – THE COGNITIVE EXPRESSIONS
Long back ago, there was a boy named William. He lived with his family. He belongs to
a strained family. He loved learning new things. He was also very interested to go to
the school. But his family wasn’t able to educate him. But his family were compelling
him to go in search of work and forget about his dreams. William didn’t like this
approach. So, he decided to work and learn without the knowledge of his family.
Though it was a difficult situation he was going to the school. His dream was to provide
free education. So, he worked harder and learnt even more harder. And he completed
his Middle School, High School and he finally stepped into the college. He also
completed his college. He started his own institution, coaching centers, schools,
colleges where he could educate students without any payment of fees. And through
him numerous students were educated. He was the most famous person in his country.
One day, few people met him and requested him to present a speech for the future
citizens. William accepted their request. He was focussing on few points in this
speech.

Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in
each of us there is a hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit
for everyone and greater strength of the nation. Strive for progress and not
perfection. And you children should take this seriously because you’re the tomorrow
of the nation. A childhood without books – that would be no childhood. That would be
like being shUt oUt from the enchanted place where yoU can go and find the rarest kind

SNOW FLOWER
"Look at that cloud, it's like a flower," rose Clematis. A storm was heading, so Clematis
and Eleanor got out of the swing and ran to Luna's house there and then.
The next evening, while cloud gazing, they saw the same flower cloud. Suddenly,
there was a cacophonous thump and from a hedge emerged a bluebell. But what was
unusual was that it bounced! Then they heard someone shriek, Help! Help!" They found
a girl with a purple dress, to be tangled up in a rope, and they helped her. "Who are
you?" asked Luna. "Hi, I am Hyacinth, and thank you for rescuing me". "Our pleasure, but
where are you from?" queried Eleanor. "I'll explain everything on the way," replied
Hyacinth. "On, our way, where?" questioned Luna. "Follow me, "Hyacinth said. They all
held hands, and Hyacinth flew with them!
"I am a flowerxie from the snow kingdom, upon a flower cloud. Everyone there can fly,
and we have magic powers. I had a contest, to run through magical plants of my choice.
I picked the bouncing bluebells, I lost track and came down flying to earth and got
tangled in the rope." explained Hyacinth. When she concluded, they reached the castle,
which was full of uproars.
"The Carnation ball has been stolen, and we need to guard the Chrystanthum
ball, because I fear its next" sighed Anemone. "What's a Carnation ball?" whispered
Luna. "It preserves our magic and whoever holds it can control Dianthus, who is one
among us, but more powerful. The Chrysanthemum ball helps us fly, and the holder can
control Chrysanthemum. They are protected in the flower museum, and there they have
liberty", Hyacinth concluded. Luna craved to help, she asked out loud, "We would like to
help you". "We don't employ children," Anemone said gloomily.
Hyacinth suggested that they take a tour first, so, they started for the Orchid. In the
Orchid, was a flowerxie; Lillium. Luna noticed a difference between the two flowerxies,
but before she could say it, Lillium vanished. "I saw sparkles on her" Luna said. "It must
be crazy crystals. That's why she went wonky! We need to get to the arboretum."

exclaimed Hyacinth. Inside the arboretum, they saw crystals. Then they rushed to the
castle to find the Crystanthum ball stolen! "We know who took the balls" panted Eleanor.
"Who?" everyone asked furiously. "It's Lillium, and she is sprinkled with crazy crystals,"
responded Clematis. "Then we need to cure her" urged Anemone. She kept the snow
ready, and suddenly Lillium emerged with a poof. "Why are you doing this?" asked
Anemone. "I want to rule here, and no one can stop me" yelled Lillium, immediately
Anemone poured the snow on Lillium. "Why am I holding this" asked Lillium, handing the
balls to Anemone. Anemone thanked the children for saving them and understood her
mistake. With the children's aid, the balls were once again preserved in the museum,
and the three friends waved and returned home.

father used to work at a factory for production of wool and sometimes had to face
diseases and his mother worked as a house help in different houses. Aarush had a big
dream to become an artist. He had exceptional skills in art. His mother and father
collected money and they had arranged art classes for him. Abdul kalam was his
inspiration and he faced many difficulties to fulfil his dreams. Aarush thought that as
his parents are doing a lot of hard work notwithstanding the intense tiredness they had
to suffer, he should also help them financially. So, he joined a biscuit shop to sell
biscuits. His parents were proud of him. He asked them “Father, will my dream come
true?” His father said, “Yes my child, with this dedication you will surely reach your
dreams, we are always with you. “These words brought a smile to his face. He kept
working hard day and night. He also made his own art techniques. His work of biscuit
selling also continued and he managed all his activities. He also had few friends. Kabir
was his best friend and supported him a lot. One day in his art class, Aarush was painting
scenery. His teacher watched him doing this and he was surprised to see his talent. Then
he said, “Aarush will you take part in the inter-state art competition.” Aarush was
shocked after hearing this. He said, “Yes sure, I will take part in it”. After the class,
Aarush was very happy. He prepared and practised daily and on the day of the
competition, he was very excited. He gave his best and he was very happy after the
competition. He himself and his parents were waiting for the result. His art teacher
came to their home and said, “Congratulations! Aarush has won the competition. He has
got the first rank.” Aarush became very happy. His happiness knew no bounds. With this
achievement, he became more confident about his dream. Then after 15 years, he
became a very famous artist. He was named as “king of arts”. His parents were very
happy for him and then he opened his own art gallery and people from faraway places
came to see his articles. So, from that time Aarush and his family started a peaceful
life.

WHEN I FINALLY FOUND MY TREASURE
In a big city lived 5 friends. I’m Ona the leader of the group. My 4 friends were Eva,
Roni, Anna & Zoey. Eva & Anna were very pretty and didn’t like to get dirty. Roni was
enthusiastic but didn’t listen to anyone. Zoey was loyal and a very good friend.
One day, my mother advised me to choose friends wisely. Then she gave me a treasure
map as a guide. I called all of my friends to go on an adventure with me. The treasure
map showed that we should go on to slippery swamp of fears, the river of scars, 4 roads
and valley of humiliation to reach the treasure.
Eva thought this will be dirty, she decided not to join. I thought that I would bring back
some treasure for Eva but then I remembered what my mother said. I understood that
Eva was not a true friend.
While we were walking, we heard footsteps those were not ordinary footsteps, they
were footsteps of a giant. He had one thousand arms and he tore down trees every
second. When he walked the very ground shook. Suddenly, the place where we were
standing broke, we all fell in the slippery swamp of fears. Anna was mad she told” Look
at all of this mud, I am filthy so I’m going back home. “I realized that she wasn’t a true
friend either.
Now I had only 2 friends left. So, we continued walking. We saw a river which was red
and figured out it was the river of scars. We had to get across, we waited for about an
hour and soon a little cloud appeared, so I climbed upon it and all of us sat in it and
zoomed into the air and it felt like I was sitting on cotton candy.
We then reached 4 roads there was a Golden road, a silver road, a ruby road & the rocky
road. The map said to go on the rocky road. A man came and he introduced himself as
Mr. Rich. He said, “you should go down the gold path it leads to more riches.” But Zoey

& I denied that, but Roni wanted to go down the Golden road. She didn’t listen to what
I said and went on her way, so I realized that she wasn’t a true friend either.
Finally, we came to the valley of humiliation. Once we entered it a man came up to us and
introduced himself as Mr. Humiliation. We thought he could help us, but he started to
humiliate us. But we stood up for it so, he tried to attack me, but Zoey fought for me
and saved me.
We walked along and finally found the treasure chest but there was no treasure in the
box only a note in it. It said “There is no greater treasure than friendship.” I then
realized that I had finally found my true friend.

A SURPRISING TURN IN WILL’S LIFE
“Hey, stop!!” said Blob, Will stopped in his tracks and faced him. Will had had a pretty
rough day, he’d been scolded by his teacher for not doing his homework, teased
mercilessly by his classmates for his bizarre outfit, lost his best pen, and now Blob the
bully was going to take away his lunch. What an amazing day!!
“What?” he asked defiantly.
“Shut up. You know what” Blob answered in a savage tone.
He smiled cruelly, which did not at all look good on his big and ugly face. Will sighed and
gave him his lunch.
“Good. Now, go away”. The moment Will handed over his lunchbox to Blob, he began
running towards his home.
As Will reached his house, he set his bag down, relaxed on the sofa, took his iPod, and
started listening to music. It was true that Will had cried in the beginning about the
constant bullying and teasing but, over the last few months, he had gotten used to it.
He has always been afraid to tell his parents about it. And, yes, he did not have any
friends.
The next day when Will was going to school, bracing himself for an unpleasant day, he
heard a scream. Will ran towards the place from where the sound originated, his heart
racing fast.
When he reached, he saw something that horrified him. There was a pack of about four
dogs, and they were all biting and clawing someone, who fell by their force. And there
was no adult, but children who were all fleeing from the scene. Also, the person looked
very familiar. With a jolt, Will realized that the victim was none other than the person
responsible for his miserable days at school, Blob.

Will could have run away, moved to a safe distance, watching Blob get his punishment
for all the things he had done to him. But he didn’t, instead, he scooped up three stones
and hurled the first stone on the ground, this caused the dogs to glance at him, when
he did the same with the second stone, they backed off. Then when he lifted the third
stone high up in the air, the dogs ran away.
Then he started calling for help as Blob seemed to be in a pretty bad shape. After some
time, a local shopkeeper came and quickly understood what had happened and called for
an ambulance.
Then after a few days, things started getting better for Will. Everyone had heard about
his bravery and started appreciating him about his brave deed; no one teased or bullied
him, but became his friends.
After a few months, when Blob recovered, he thanked Will and stopped bullying him. He
did not speak much with Will because he was embarrassed that Will had saved him even
though he had been cruel to him. But, it was fine with Will because his life had changed
for the better and for the first time, his heart brimmed with happiness!!

THE HAUNTED SHADOWS
It wasn’t the first time that a wave had risen higher than it should have. Along the
coast of Goa, the sea waves along with tumultuous winds hurled themselves at the
shore for centuries, the lightning brightened the night sky as if it is morn and the
thunder didn’t allow the loudest scream to be heard. This wave in particular seemed to
have a life of its own, starting from the south it came to the beach waltzing as if it
owned the place.
There, stood three teens captivated by the height of the wave, Shanaya believing that
her eyes were playing tricks on her, Kabir convincing himself that the gigantic wave
has a scientific explanation, Rhea, clueless of her surroundings. When this storm went
out of play, “scientific” Kabir knew it was much complex than just a storm but stuck to
the side of science and explained how the winds of north India affect Goa, the girls
just nodded as they didn’t get a word of what he said. They headed home, hoping to
forget the incident. The next morning nobody seemed to remember the storm, except
the three sceptical teens who witnessed it. They knew it wasn’t a dream as they were
able to describe the storm in the same way, which certainly isn’t a coincidence.
The three teens needed some explanation about the incident that frightened them,
they were known as the “fearless teens”, and they wanted to live up to the name, they
needed answers. So, they packed their bags to have a “picnic” at the beach. Their

parents were hesitant, thinking they were pulling this stunt for their affinity towards
dares. Kabir and Shanaya got their parents to accept the “one-night stay at the
beach” but Rhea wasn’t able to convince her parents, they wouldn’t let her go, so
Shanaya talked “master of disasters” Rhea’s parents into it.
They started their trip at noon and that’s when things start getting dark. The beach
was empty which was unusual on a Sunday, the sky got dark enough to make them feel
as if it was night. The turbulent waves roared; nothing could be heard except the
mighty waves. When Kabir reached out for a torch, he felt a gust of wind and couldn’t
find the torch so he chuckled suspecting the girls, he then heard the girls laugh, the
sound was from a distance, he was frightened at the thought that there was
something with them at the beach, he ignored it and went on without the torch only to
find it in his hand when a voice threatened to throw the three out of the beach, it
seemed to be coming from the lighthouse which none of them had seen before. They
went near the lighthouse and the temperature decreased and increased in just a
moment; it gave them the chills. They couldn’t take it anymore and tried to leave the
beach only to feel paralyzed below the knee. They tried their best to move out of the
horrid beach. They decided to never speak of it again and they wished to forget the
unexplainable things that happened to them. It still remains unsolved.

MOVING THE FURNITURE
Sameer looked around his huge house. This was the first time in his 15-year life that he
had been left alone. His parents had gone out for an important meeting so that he could
experience the taste of managing things all alone at home.
He woke up at 8:30 in the morning, an hour after his parents left. He lazed around for
a while and finally settled on the futon in the living room. Picking up the Pizza his mom
had thoughtfully left on the tea table, Sameer started watching TV.
At around 9:30, he took some pocket money and left for the store at the end of the
row of villa houses. What he did not realize was that he had left the door of his house
open. Around the same time, a bunch of movers and packers drove into the villas. They
had come in to help Mrs. Asha move her furniture to her new place. Asha had told the
guys ‘I shall be there in a short while. The house is open, you can go and start packing
the furniture in the living room.’
Alas, the first house they saw open was Sameer’s house and started moving everything
onto the small buggy van they had bought. However, they could not find any bean bags,
which Asha had mentioned. Thinking they could do in the second shuttle; they boarded
the other furniture on the van.
Meanwhile, Sameer was caught up with a few friends and what he thought would be a
few minutes turned into an hour (almost). When he invited a few of them home, he saw
the buggy passing by and immediately realized what had happened. He and his friends
ran after the buggy in a mad rush. Finally, they managed to stop it, and explained to the
driver as to what had happened.

Turned out they were supposed to go the villa on the next street. They were running out
of time and apologized for what had happened, leaving the furniture on the road just in
front of his house.
Anguished, Sameer asked his friends to help him move the furniture back home and
promised to pay each one fifty bucks for help. Right then, his mom called saying that
their meeting got cancelled and they are on the way back home and should reach in
twenty minutes.
Sameer completely panicked and started to shiver. Yet brought his focus back to the
job in hand and started moving the furniture, one at a time, all the way down the 750-
meter distance. Just in time when they had moved in every furniture, his parent’s car
rolled out onto the parking lot.
Sameer led his friends into his room on the first floor and showed a safe passage down
his window and came down quickly as if nothing happened.
‘Why do you look so tired?’ his mother’s first question to Sameer.
‘I am not….I don’t.’ Sameer quipped as he saw his friends walking past his main gate.

THE FATALITY
Want to read about a kid who flew a jet plane? Read the below story!
That was a wonderful day! My family planned a trip to Hawaii. I was so excited! This was
my first trip to a foreign country via plane. We had a flight at 6 PM, we were rushing
because of a heavy traffic. We were stuck at the road, there was no way to relieve from
that traffic. We were stuck for half an hour! But somehow, we reached the airport
before departure and got into the plane.
We took rest after the peaceful take off, it was a 10 hour flight in an Hawaiian Airways
A330. After some time, a baby in the front seat started crying but their parents never
took any steps, everyone was irritated! After an hour, a flight attendant gave some toys
to that baby. The baby stopped crying. For dinner we had some hotdogs. I was just
playing video games the whole time; I was just flying the same plane in a video game!
We were 3 hours away from Hawaii and the time was 6:50 AM. We had some cookies for
breakfast. But when we were near to the airport the tragedy struck, the captain died
126 | P a g e
JOHNIANS FABLES- SJPS 2020 Children’s Day Release
mysteriously of a heart attack and the co-pilot also died seeing the captain die as the
co pilot had asthma.
We were so scared and my parents thought the plane would crash, the flight attendants
were announcing that whoever knows to fly a plane can come to the cockpit (pilot's
cabin). I am the only one who knew to fly a plane by playing plane games! I went to the
cockpit but the flight attendants were scared that I would crash the plane. But anyhow
I managed to fly it. I did all the steps and was getting ready to land a plane. The flight
attendants were shocked that I was flying the plane perfectly! I just learnt everything
from a simulator.
I put the flaps, gears and the spoilers down after which the landing was successful!
After returning to Chennai I was awarded for that landing and got a lifetime free flight
service from Hawaiian airways, and also got a free scholarship in an aviation school in
Chennai! All in my 7th grade. I became very famous in my country and school. Even the
kids who bullied me became my best friends! Prime minister came to Chennai just to
meet me! He gave me a prize!
It was the best day in my life! My parents were extremely proud of me.

TEAMWORK
A long time ago there lived five friends named Mia, Emma, Olivia, Andrea and Stephanie.
They were best friends from their lower kindergarden. They were studying in the 12st
standard now. They were friendly and did not resent each other. On the other hand
their teacher Ms. Stevens was a kind teacher. On Monday the students came to school.
The first thing that was announced was about the trip and all were excited! They
announced that they are taking them to a greenary on Wednesday. But the only person
that was worried was their teacher because she had to manage the whole class of 45
students. The five friends started to discuss from now, finally the day arrived for the
trip. All arrived at school a little early. They went to the greenery and went around
seeing every thing. They even got a chance to sow a plant. After looking around and
taking notes they returned near the bus. Ms Stevens counted them 1,2,3…..43. She
noticied that 2 were missing. She got very scared. She immediately checked the list of
students. She found that Daniel was absent and another was
missing. She asked “Did anyone see Zoe?”. Kate said “I saw
her when we reached here” . Ms Stevens was in confusion.
Emma immediately came to her. She said “she might have
gone somewhere near, we will wait” . Ms Stevens said
“Students can everyone go ,search for her and return to this
place?”. All agreed. After looking for her they could not spot her. They were waiting for
hours. The time was running very fast. It was 6:00pm and
they had to return to their school. One said “Mam we have
to return to school!!!!”. Mam immediately replied, “Yes we
will go”. They all went inside the bus. While
travelling evryone was upset.
Stephanie said to Olivia “I think she
did not inform us that she is not
coming” Olivia
replied “But Kate said that she saw her

first”. When they returned to school Ms Stevens informed the school head. The
students went back home. Andrea called all of the five friends near the school. Andrea
said “Mia, Emma you go and search in the school. Stephanie you try to call Zoe and see
if she responds. Me and Olivia will call all of Zoe’s friends and ask.”
STEPHANIE
She called Zoe more than 7 times she did not answer because her phone was coming as
switched off.
MIA & EMMA
They both searched the whole school and also in each and every classroom but they did
not find her.
OLIVIA & ANDREA
Olivia & Andrea called everyone. Olivia called Tailia and asked Tailia replied “ Oh! Zoe is
in my house, i thought she informed you. She only attended half of trip and came to my
house.”
The next day they asked Zoe to come to school and Ms Steves said,
“You have to inform before you go anywhere!”. She turned to the five
friends and asked “How did you do it?” They replied “TEAMWORK !!!”

NIGHTMARE
When I was about 6 years old, I fell down from the terrace, I and Max were playing
catch-catch, even though our parents asked us NOT TO GO TO THE TERRACE, anyhow
we just wanted some thrill so we did it.
When I fell down, I closed my eyes wishing there was some hope left so that I can
return safely. But I never expected that this would happen, I did not fall down I was
floating just above an inch above the ground, this was when I realised, I could fly or I
had some superpowers. I tried to go back to the terrace flying, yes it did happen, it was
the most important moment of my life I never knew a human could fly, so it meant I was
the only superhero in the world. Max reacted as though he had seen a ghost. How, he
couldn’t be surprised. I just fell down from the terrace of a 3-storeyed building and I
came back flying that too with no injuries on my body. When I came he was running to
inform our parents that I fell down, he froze when he saw me, his face turned into a
pale blue colour, I have never seen Max like that. I then came near to him to tell the
story, then I told him I got superpowers, he never believed and still thought I was a
ghost who came back from death just to kill him. What! Why should I kill my own friend?
He acted just like an idiot. But I thought to myself, what will happen if my powers are
gone. Then it went. This day had the best as well as the worst moments of my life. Now
I just went home and slept.
How could this happen? A friend asked
Then I woke up in a second but it was morning, then I realised that it was just a dream.

SAMMY FOUND HIS HOME
I was born in a cosy little breeding box in a pet shop in one of the busiest cities. Having
so much hay around and being spoon fed, I had nothing much to complain about other
than the fact that I couldn’t see much of the outside world. My parents would fly into
my home often to check on me. So did my loving master. He was a very busy man. Being
the colours of nature- green and yellow- my siblings and I were quite talkative, boys
more than girls.
After a few days, we were shifted into another cage, a smaller one just opposite to our
parents. We missed them but at least we could see them. A few days later, a few more
neighbours of various other colours were added into our cage and the master stuck up
a white card facing outwards. I couldn’t figure out what that meant.
About two days later, I saw a middle-aged man come in and talk to my master. He
hovered around my cage and pointed at two of my friends. My master put on his gloves
and transferred my friends into another small cage and off they went. We felt sad and
missed them. By now I realised, looking at the way many of our other friends leave with

made my heart break. But I got over it since now I had befriended a beautiful girl.
A couple of weeks later, the same man who took my two friends the other day, came
back. My heart pounded. My master put his gloved hands in and caught hold of me and
my girlfriend! Off we went anxiously waiting to see where we would go. The man was
very kind and kept whistling to us throughout the journey.
Once we got to the destination, he took us up and transferred us carefully into another
huge cage with swings, a ladder, a mirror and other toys. Guess what?? My friends were
already there and they wasted no time in telling me about their new little masters. We
waited eagerly to meet them. I never really wanted to fly free because birds like me
just fall prey to the ferocious ones outside. My new home was great! My girlfriend
enjoyed it too. We had a little breeding box attached.
The room was filled with balloons and glistening paper. Soon two adorable little people

little girl named my girlfriend, ‘Grace’. My little master called me ‘Sammy’. I can’t explain
my feelings more clearly than this- “I Found My Home”.

BITTERSWEET MOMENTS
A century ago, there was a happy
village in a country. The village had
people of every occupation in it. The
negative thing is that it had caste
system, but the surprising thing was
the friendship of two kids. The two
kids were LILY and ROSY.
Lily belonged to a rich family, she was 5-
years-old and studied in the 1st standard in
a big school. Rosy belonged to a poor family,
she was a 5-year-old girl too who studied at
the 1st grade in a government school.
Lily Rosy
Their levels in the society didn’t
matter. They have been very close
friends since the age of 3 years.
They first met each other when they
both were playing in the playground.

One day, Rosy came to Lily’s home to play.
That day Lily was gifted a long slide
because she had got good grade. That slide
was placed in a garden called enchanted
garden in the backyard of Lily’s house.
After the slide was placed, they both
started playing in it. First, it was
Rosy’s turn. When she started
sliding, and when she reached the
middle of the slide Lily shouted “stop
Rosy, stop. There is a hole in the end
of the slide” By that time Rosy fell
into the hole in the end of the slide.
Rosy shouted for help.
Lily panicked. She immediately climbed the
slide and started sliding. She too had the
same adventure as Rosy did. She fainted.
When Lily woke up, she found Rosy
and a rabbit sitting beside her. Then
Rosy introduced the rabbit. Rosy said
“meet my new friend, Polly” to Lily.
They became friends, that night
they stayed at Polly’s home.

The next day, Polly said to Rosy and Lily
” Can you get 22 carrots from the garden
opposite to that river?” so they went. When
they were plucking 22 carrots from that
garden, they saw a banner nearby. It was
written “BAD WITCH. DON’T COME” Lily
asked, “Can we go there?” Rosy said “Sure
“. So, they went.
When the witch inside saw them. The
witch asked, “What do you want?”.
They replied, “we just wanted to give
you this flower and you look
beautiful.” And they smiled. The
witch said “I thought humans were
bad because, as a person tricked me
but, you proved I was wrong so, I will
reverse my spell”
Rosy asked “what spell?”. The witch replied
“I changed the citizens of this village as
animals” and she reversed the spell, and the
witch asked both “what do you want?” they
replied “we want to go home” and the witch
who became the fairy said “ok, bye”. They
said bye to the fairy and Polly, who was now
a cute girl.
Fairy Polly
Then they both reached home, they
found that one day in that is village is
one minute in their village. So, this
incident took place within 1 hour.
They both also made sure to visit the
village once a week.

TWO FRIENDS AND THE BEAST
Once there lived two friends named Rita and Anna. Rita was very kind and Anna was rude
with others. But they were good friends. Once the friends went to a magical garden.
While Anna was talking to the watchman,
Rita went inside. To her surprise she saw a lot of mango trees, apple trees etc. Rita
wanted to eat them all. So she quickly went near a mango tree and when she was about
to pluck a mango, she heard a voice. The voice said “don’t pluck the mango” she turned
and saw but couldn’t find anyone. So she plucked the mango and ate. When she opened
her eyes she saw herself tied in a forest. She got really scared and shouted for help.

Just then from nowhere a beast appeared and said to her “I am going to eat you, as you
didn’t harm anyone I could not do so. Now kill this butterfly so that I can eat you”.
Rita said, “No. I won’t do that”. Just then Anna finished alking and
came inside saying “Rita, watchman said this is a magical garden, don’t touch or eat
anything or you will be in trouble.” But there was no response from Rita. Anna thought
that Rita was in trouble and searched for Rita everywhere in the garden but couldn’t
find her. At last she came near the mango tree and saw Rita’s necklace there. She quickly
realized that Rita should have eaten the fruit and could now be in trouble. She then ran
to the watchman but couldn’t find him. Suddenly an old man appeared from a bright light
and told her that Rita was in trouble and only Anna can save her. The old man gave Anna
a compass, boat and a torch for her journey to find Rita. Also the old man gave her a
mirror which could help to kill the beast.
He told her that the beast cannot kill the person who never harmed anyone.
So he asked Anna to show the mirror to the beast at once she saw him, otherwise the
beast will kill her as she was rude. The old man disappeared and Anna searched Rita in
the forest and found her tied in the tree. She went near Rita and said, “I came here to
save you”. Rita said, “Run away, the beast will kill you, as you harmed many insects and
birds and you are rude”. Just then the beast was back and saw Anna. The beast rushed
to kill her, but Anna took the mirror and showed in front of the beast. The beast died
immediately after seeing the mirror. Anna untied Rita and they went happily back to the
village. Anna realized that if she had been in the situation of Rita she would have been
killed by the beast because of her rudeness. Anna realized her mistake and was never
rude again.
Moral of the story:
1. A friend in need is the friend indeed
2. Kindness always results in happiness

CRIME AGAINST SIVA
On a normal day, a boy named Siva was taking a pile of bricks towards his father, Ram
Kumar. Siva’s mother was also there whose name was Ranjini. Siva was a brave,
fearless and a kind boy. They were a caring family but poor. This is because Ram
Kumar came from a village that did not have any schools. So he did not get educated.
So as Ram was not educated and didn’t have a job, he did not have money to send Siva
to school. So for the family’s daily need of food, they had to work in a construction
site. Even though, they got only ₹20 per hour. Siva was coming to the construction site
at 8:00 am in the morning and left the premises at 6:45 pm in the evening. The
architect was a devilish person; he had hundreds of children working for him in the
site.As Siva was coming to the construction site at the morning as usual when he saw
three boys carrying bags and hanging a lunch bag on their shoulder crossing the road.
They all were talking and laughing while walking to school. This attracted Siva and he
couldn’t bear the eagerness to go and talk to the boys. So gathering all his courage, he
went near them and asked - “Hey boys. I am Siva. May I know your names please?” One
of them replied – “We can’t talk to dirty boys like you. Just look at your shirt, it’s all
torn. How do you expect us to talk to you?” This made Siva downhearted. He did not go
to the construction site that day. This made his father very angry at him. He yelled at
Siva at the top of his voice. Siva cried the whole night and did not eat his dinner. He
then explained to his father why he did not go to the working site. His father felt sad
and very ashamed for what his son got.
One sunny day, at the working site, Siva was carrying a tub of bricks above his head
which he couldn’t bear the weight of and dropped. It fell on his feet and he started
crying very loudly as the pain was unbearable. All the bricks broke and it made the
architect very angry. He slapped Siva right on his face and took a pencil and stabbed a
hole in Siva’s hands. Siva couldn’t bear the pain and fainted there itself. Seeing this,
his mother cried aloud and fainted too. His father had gone to his house as he forgot
his tools when all this happened. All the kids gathered around him, picked him up and
went to the police station in their area. They said what happened there. The police
thought he should not care about this but he couldn’t go against his conscience. So he
went to the site, put handcuffs in the architect’s hands and then arrested him. All I
want to say is please whatever happens don’t make tiny hands do big jobs.
