The Most Valuable Experience
Most of the adults say that studying is better than working. Most of the students say that working
is better than studying. Well, I also thought that working is easier than studying. But, I had an
great experience that had changed my mind 180’ around.
I used to think that working is easier than studying. So, I always wanted to work than study in
school or academy. I told my mom that I want to work after I graduate high school rather than
going to university. When my mom heard about it, the only thing she said was ‘okay.’ I was
surprised because I thought she was going to get mad when I say that I want to work after I
graduate high school. After few days, my mom came to me and asked “ Do you want to try to
work in the movie theater?” When I heard about it, my eyes became double size of my regular
one and I was jumping around like I was a 5 years old kid. And of course my answer was “
yesssssss!!!” I was really happy that I could work. The first day I started to work was a week
before Christmas. I learned how to do every work as hard as I can. After a week, it was
Christmas eve. The theater was full of people like traffics on the highway during the long holiday
break and it was really noisy just like the shopping mall. When I was mass of people in the
theater I thought it would be really fun to work on the crazy busy day. I was actually fun on the
Christmas eve. After work my body felt really tired but, I liked the way that I felt after work.
The following day was the Christmas. I went to the movie theater at 7AM. It was a bit early but,
I had to make 5 boxes of popcorns so that when we run out of popcorns then we could use
those popcorns until the new popcorns was coming out. When the time was getting close to the
start of the first movie, people started to come to the concession and started to order popcorns
and drinks. It was start of the busiest day in a year. I was ready to roll and other employees
were also ready roll out. We worked like we are popcorn machine. Even it was a time to eat
lunch, people started to come more than morning. At 12:30 PM, we heard some bad news. The
news was that the movie tickets were all sold until the last movie which means that there will be
6000 more people coming to the movie theater. Every single employees were depress and they
looked like they were going to die while they are working. But, we didn’t even have more time to
depress because that means that we have to make more popcorns and other foods. Everyone
was working like they are working machine. After a long long work time like a limousine, we
finally got some time to take a rest because every movies started at the same time which means
there won’t be any customers for next one hour. Everyone was tired and we didn’t even have
any power to stand up, because everyone was standing for over 6 hours in a row. During the
break, I kind of start to regret about what I said to my mom, because I realized that working is
also hard but still, I liked to work than studying. After break, I started to work again. Everyone
was super tired like they just finished the triathlon. No matter how tired we were, we still had to
work until the last movie finishes which was 2AM. When it was 11:30 PM, me and employees
started to see some hopes that we might make it until the end of the day. But, still there were 5more
movies to go. which means that there would be 1000 more people to come. But since that time 100
people were really small amount of people since we got 10000 people already. We worked and
finally it was the last movie. there were only 200 people to go. Last 200 people were easy because
they didn’t order much than others. When I was finally finished, I was really really tired like after 10
times more tired than I play basketball game for 3 hours. Everyone looked like they were about to
die or exhaust.
By the time I finally realized that working is way harder than studying like 100 times harder than
studying. I also learned that if I study then I learn something but, working would not teach me more
than studying. Because of this experience, my mind had been changed. I start to think about my
university that I would go in the future. I also started to study harder than before I’ve done this
experience.
