How To Survive 8th Grade In 10 Steps
● 1. Understand that 8th grade is a new world
Keep in mind that 8th grade will be more challenging academically as well as maybe even
socially. Be aware of the new upcoming changes.
● 2. Prepare mentally and physically
On the night before school pick out something that you know you want to wear and you like.
Remember, looks aren't everything but it’s typical to want to make a good first impression. That
being said, also pack your backpack so you're not rushing in the morning to find your school
supplies. You don’t want to be late!
● 3. Review your schedule
The last thing you want on your first day is to not know what classes you have. Make sure you
know which classes you have when and if you don’t know where you’re going, ask people
around you for assistance.
● 4. Be friendly to everyone
Don’t pick on younger kids just because you're in the highest grade level at your school. It’s
common for those who are at the top to want to pick on those on the bottom. Imagine if that
were you next year in high school.
● 5. Make new friends
Make a n effort to meet new people. It’s nice to have some close friends but that doesn’t mean
you should only be with them all the time. Try to meet other kids!

● 6. Don’t try to come up with a crazy idea to become popular
First off, being popular shouldn’t be your top priority. Most of the time, the “popular” lifestyle isn’t
as great as it is said to be. It usually tends to deal with drama that you don’t need!
● 7. Avoid looking confused or lost
This may be crazy to think, but younger kids could actually make fun of older kids for not
knowing what to do. Everyone expects the oldest kids to know what they are doing, even if you
don’t.
● 8. Feel free to express yourself
Just because a handful of people are all wearing the same jacket or shoes, don’t feel like you
have to go out to the store and buy them for yourself. You don’t have to be like everyone else.
Stand out!
● 9. Just because someone said something mean to you doesn’t mean you have the
right to say something unkind back
Even though it may be hard not to say something back, you still shouldn’t. It will only
create more tension. Eventually karma will hit them back. Be the bigger person.
● 10. Consider preparing for High school
It may be hard to believe but you're only one year away from high school. It won’t hurt to look
into classes or maybe even taking one.
