Understanding Strains

Knowing which type of strain you have is the first step to a great elevation.

Cook Process

Edit

_Know Thy Weed

There are two main strains of cannabis: Sativa and Indica.
Based on your medicating need, choosing a Sativa or Indica
can dramatically affect your desired outcome. Indica has high-
er levels of THC and Sativa has higher levels of CBD.

Another type of cannabis strain is the Hybrid, which is a
crossbred version of a Sativa and Indica. My advice to you, if
you’re new to the cannabis world, would be to choose a
Hybrid strain first - one that is as close to 50/50 THC vs CBD as
possible. A strain like Harmony, is a close Hybrid perfection.
It lends a lite elevation that relaxes the body and mind and
leaves you feeling tranquil.

Knowing your cannabis strain is also important when cooking
cannabis infused meals. The softer the meal, the greater level
of CBD I like to infuse my meal with. For more solid meals, like
steak, I prefer to marinate it with a THC strain and spices. As
steaks take the body longer to digest and THC is the body
dominant strain, pairing these two seem to compliment each
other.

Whatever your preference, there are lots of ways to indulge.

_Cooking With Cannabis

Cannabis Coconut Oil

Infusing cannabis with coldpressed organic coconut oil that can be
substituted in any recipe where oils and butters are called for.

2. 5 Hours Ingredients

Cook Process

Using a pot or Pyrex, insert the thermometer and the 250 ml Cold Pressed Coconut oil
measured coconut oil on medium heat. Cannabis is acti-
vated (decarboxylated) at 200 to 230° F. So, you’d want the 8 grams of finely ground Can-
coconut oil to be within this range before adding the ground nabis
cannabis.
Thermometer
Once the temperature is stabilized around the 200 range,
add the ground cannabis and allow to process for 45 min- Strainer or Cheese cloth
utes or until you see bubbles forming and raising to the top.

Then strain your mixture either using a fine strainer or
cheese cloth to separate the cannabis from the infused
oil. Pour the oil into a clean pot and reheat for another 45
minutes. It’s important to keep the temperature in the 200’s.
Once the bubbles are gone, decarboxylating is achieved and
the infusion is ready.

Refrigerate the oil infusion for 1 hour or until it is a solid.

_Cooking With Cannabis

Cook Process

My father is the best cook I’ve ever eaten from. When I’m creating meals
and have a little creator’s block, I always ask myself, “what would dad do?”.
But don’t tell him that I said that!
Without further ado, rinse the fish fillets in water then with lime and
lemon. Lightly massage a bit of cannabis coconut oil onto the fish. Rub the
black pepper and salt onto the fish. Be sure to cover the sides and bone
(depending on type of fish) with this seasoning mixture.
Using a sauce pan, preheat 1 spoon of cannabis coconut oil. Mix in the
mustard seeds, turmeric and coconut milk and stir to a nice consistency.
Set this aside and we’ll later use it as the sauce to cover the fish.
Heat your frying pan on a medium temperature, add 2 spoons of Virgin
Olive oil and fry down the seasoned fish fillets to a lite crisp.
Side note: I like eating this dish with jasmine rice boiled in garlic, lime and
salt. But it’s also great with quinoa.
When it’s time to plate, place the fish and garnish with the mustard sauce
alongside a serving of rice and asparagus.

VOONG

MODERN . FUNCTIONALITY . ELEGANCE

Imagine a world where you could throw out that
dreadful vase centerpiece you were gifted and replace it
with your bong. Imagine no more. Castor Design, a North
American company, took black and white porcelain, brass
and powder coating to create an aesthetically pleasing
master piece.

Changing the stereotype of who cannabis consum-
ers are was my main reason for starting this venture.
Contemporary products like VOONG make the articulation
of who the “other” cannabis consumers are, a little bit easier.
Yes, its dual-purpose design is a simple recreation of the
traditional bong but it also has style and character. Its
textured coating and brass additions make it slip free. My
only caution to you would be to use hemp wick when
lighting the bowl of cannabis, as to preserve the luster of
the brass.

For $250, VOONG will be a hit conversation piece
and a hit wallet piece.

PAX 3

Courtesy of paxvapor.com

There are tons of reviews out there describing
the PAX 3 Vaporizer as “the iPhone of vaporizers”,
which brings to mind characteristics like “premium”,
“intuitive”, “sleek”, “stylishly discreet”, “consistent”,
and “fast”. Music to a smoker’s ears, right? Ah, yeah,
you’re right! People have been raving about this
product for some time now and although it was re-
leased in 2016, we’d still like to throw in our 2 cents.

The PAX 3, which is the third installment of
the product, hence the name, was created by its
own Frankenstein, PAX Labs, an electronic cigarette
company. Each version of PAX have undergone vital
changes, as any series should, but the PAX 3 has ap-
parently surpassed the idea of how vaporizing should
be done.

It not only fits well in the palm of your hand
but it also only includes one button, which is conve-
niently placed on the mouthpiece to turn on or off
the device. It’s a dual-use vaporizer, allowing you to
insert either herbs or concentrates, and treats each
equally, providing consistent pulls. To put in your rem-
edy of choice, there’s a slide out action by squeezing
one side of the lid to withdraw the chamber. It comes
with a cleaning kit, catering to an easy clean-up job.

_Innovative Products

One of the cool parts about the PAX 3,
if you weren’t convinced already, is its
connectivity. With Bluetooth, users are able
to link their PAX 3 to the PAX Vapor App to
control and customize heating, create color
themes, and add security for your device.
It even personalizes your experience with its
sensing technology, so that your preferred
method of smoking is recorded and used in
future activity.

The only downfall we can see is the
beating on your pockets. The PAX 3 is in the
$270 - $280 range, depending on where you
purchase it. However, according to the PAX’s
official website, it has a 10 year warranty,
8 - 10 sessions per charge, 4 temperature
settings, 22 second best-in-class heat-up, and
vibration notifications. We’d say the price
tag is worth it. If you don’t think so, there are
other devices out there, like the Firefly 2 or
the Zeus Smite Plus, that you can compare if
vaporizing is up your alley.

Famous Cannaisseurs

Robert ‘Bob Marley’ Nesta

Many celebrities have been and still are huge
ambassadors for marijuana. This is especially true in recent
years since the Snoop Dogg’s, Wiz Khalifa’s, and Rihanna’s
have come to the forefront, both musically and physically
exhibiting their kinship with Mary Jane. However, to begin
highlighting the stars that have made smoking weed a way
of life, it is vital to pay homage to the one artist who can
arguably be said to have made marijuana an intricate part
of pop culture. The legendary “Redemption” and “Jammin’”
reggae singer, Bob Marley.

When we hear one of his infamous songs, what’s the
first thing that comes to our minds? Probably, “His songs
are the greatest,” or some variation of that. But what’s the
second thing? Lighting up a joint. According to a
ThoughtCo. article, “ganja” for Bob Marley was a religious
sacrament as he practiced Rastafarian. He didn’t use it
recreationally but it was a method to channel his artistry.
Although many of the artists today wouldn’t define their
cannabis use as religious, it can be agreed that their habit
affects their music in some ways.

Mr. Marley continues to be the stimulus behind many marijuana
concoctions. Whether it’s a quote from one of his many interviews,
songs, or his practices itself, there are creators out there who owe
their
abilities to Bob Marley’s openness. There is a strain named after him
called Marley’s Collie and according to COED, “it combines the
pungent sweet nectar bite of Jamaican pot with a musky undertone.
Much like his music, it lights a fire in your belly and brings you peace
and a heightened awareness.”
Last year, the Bob Marley estate finally introduced an official
marijuana brand inspired by his life and career called Marley Natural,
which includes hemp body care products.
Bob Marley’s spirit truly lives on through the music he left behind
which has influenced the culture surrounding it, and why and how
we consume “the herb”.

_High Thoughts

By Alex

I thought to myself, “wow, I’m so high. I can’t

believe that I just thought that thought. But why am

I vividly recalling minutiae details of a memory that

was suppressed into the unconscious of my

unconsciousness? Did I unlock something, perhaps a new

realm?”

And there it began, my first high thought.

I want you to close your eyes and follow this

thought process I had while in the grey clouds... ah,

on second thought, that may not be a good idea

considering you’ll need your eyes to read this sto-

ry in the first place (close them afterwards). There

I was sitting on cool white sand, in the distance I

could hear the seagulls calling, the waves were clash-

ing and gracefully taking their bow, the sea salt

breeze massaged my scalp and blew out my lighter.

Deeper in thought I went and questioned, ‘how

much control do we have over our life?’ I mean

after all, life itself is a mystical phenomenon. So,

what really stops us from living our best life?

Who stops us? High

_High Thoughts

Then the dead silence of highness struck me. I walked
deeper into the dark tunnel of my unconscious,
passing by all the reasons I couldn’t be great, why I
shouldn’t be great, why it’s damn near impossible to
be great? These reasons weren’t there without merit.
They got their stripes in battles of love, loss,
suffering and even happiness. Soon enough though, I
was out of reasons and out of a joint. What happens
now? Not about the joint but life.
For the first time, I took a fearless left turn
and began walking into the unknown, re-writing my
reality, sketching new reasons on the wall of my
unconsciousness, plotting alternate paths to road
blocks that only seemed like road blocks to the naked
eye. As the days would come and go after this “high
thought”, my unconscious started imprinting my
conscious mind and thoughts became realities, fear
became fuel and ‘Smoker’s Digest’ became a staple.
The choice is always yours!
