De brillator Update :

Of the six de brillators located on Islandmagee and
controlled and maintained by ICDA , four were of
the new Philips FRx type. The remaining two were
of the older FR2 type which were approaching the
end of their sustainable working span (10 years).
The de brillator located at Portmuck had recently
stopped working and a er consulta on with Cardiac Services (Belfast)
was accepted as beyond economical repair. Portmuck provides
recrea on to a number of local residents & tourists that may require a
de brillator in the event of a cardiac event.

ICDA had some money le over from the previous dona ons of local
residents from last year and with a successful grant applica on to MEA
Borough Council have purchased and replaced the Portmuck de brillator
with a new Philips FRx. This only leaves the de brillator located at Earls in
Mullaghboy requiring replacement with the new type. De brillator grants
are only available yearly and for individual items so hopefully the
remaining one will hold out ll then.

On average ICDA spend £500 a year in de brillator maintenance. Any Coffees & Traybakes
dona ons towards this lifeline facility in our rural area will be gratefully Browns bay
accepted. Dona on enquires can be sent to
