Rotational direction of planets
flipbook by : hans
all planets in solar system rotate on their axis at
different angles. picture below are planets rotate
from east to west except Venus and Uranus.
Venus rotates from west to east while Uranus
rotates on its side. Why do these two planets
have different rational directions as compared
to the other planets?
explaination next page >
why does venus rotate east to
west ? : Venus rotates clockwise
in retrograde rotation once
every 243 Earth days
why does uranus rotates on its side ? :
uranus is an oddball in that its axis of spin is tilted by
a whopping 98 degrees (relative to the plane of the
solar system), meaning it essentially spins on its side
01 > How direction
do planet rotate ?
answer :
why ?counterclockwise
the planets of our solar system orbit the
Sun in *counterclockwise direction*
( when viewed from above the sun’s
north pole) because of the way out
solar system formed.
02 How do most planets
rotate ?
most of the planets spin in a
counterclockwise direction (prograde
motion) including our Earth. But only
two planets, Venus and Uranus spins
in clockwise direction ( retrograde
motion )
fyi : mars retrograde will
happens every two years
03 why do planets rotate from
east to west ?
the planets in our solar system are
rotating from west to east, whereas
only two planets have rotation from
east to west
