Let’s tour around Ngao district The Attractions in Ngao District Chao Phor Pratu Pha Shrine To travel to Chao Phor Pratu Pha Shrine from the center of Lampang city. People follow the Lampang - Ngao route, about 50 Kilometers heading to Ngao district. It’s located between the kilometer markers 649 – 650. Chao Phor Pratu Pha Shrine is standing on the right side by the road. It’s a small spirit house with the statue of Chao Phor Pratu Pha inside. There are a lot of things to Chao Phor Pratu Pha offered by people who drive pass the statue. They like to stop by and pray for the prosperity and get blessing for a safe trip. Thumphatai National Park Then we are going to visit Thumphatai National Park. It’s located between the kilometer markers 768-769, about 66 kilometers from the center of Lampang city. Thumphatai is a big size cave, and there is a big hall of limestone mountains inside. When we walk into it, we will clearly see fabulous stalactites and stalagmites because there is the light all over the path. Also there are other smaller caves that they are differently beautiful. His Majesty King Rama VII (King Prajadhipok) had visited Thumphatai and wrote his short signature PPR on the wall of the cave to memorial his visiting. In the area of Thumphatai National Park also has 2 guest houses for tourist. But there is no any restaurant. Lom Phu Kiew (Blue Lake) Lom Phu Kiew is the unseen place of Ngao district. It’s located in Ban On sub – district which is in the area of Thumphatai National Park. It’s a natural tourist attraction with a huge lake on the mountain that looks like a crater. The lake is very deep and the color of the water is blue. We can see the reflections of the cliffs surrounding it. There are many kinds of fish living in Lom Phu Kiew. All of them are from the nature. While visiting here, tourists are not allowed to put their feet into the lake because local people believe that Lom Phu Kiew is a holy lake. So, whoever visits here they should only enjoy the nature with respect, no litter (keep it clean) and do not feed the fish. Let’s tour around Mae Moh district The Attractions in Mae Moh District Mae Moh Mine Mae Moh mine is the first tourist attraction of Mae Moh district that we would like to introduce to you. We can travel from downtown of Lampang by taking Lampang – Denchai route. About 10 Kilometers turn left, and keep driving about 26 Kilometers. Mae Moh Mine is coal mine that discovered in 2460, Buddhist era. It contains coal up to 630 million tons. All of mine’s areas belong to Department of Forestry. Learning Center of Coal and Lignite Museum The next tourist attraction that we recommend you to visit is Learning Center of Coal and Lignite Museum. It’s a museum that provided knowledge of Mae Moh mine’s geology, history, and electricity production techniques. This museum opens on Tuesday – Sunday, and close on Monday. The Botanical Garden This Botanical Garden is one of the tourist attractions that you should visit. It’s decorated with many kinds of flower. There is a memorial monument of King Rama 7 inside of its area. A lot of photographers and tourists love to visit and take pictures in this garden because it has pretty views with many different kind of flowers and trees. Mexican Sunflower Weed Field Scenic Point Mexican Sunflower Weed field Scenic Point is a “must see” tourist attraction. This scenic point is the place that we can see very beautiful views. The Mexican Sunflower Weed field is on the man – made hill by using soil form the mine. On the top, the hill has Chaloem Phra Kiat 84 Pansa Park (The memorial of 84 years his majesty the King Rama 9). The flowers will bloom on November to the middle of December. It’s amazing time that you shouldn’t miss. This is the most popular time for tourists to visit and take pictures too. Slider Field The last “must see” spot of Mexican Sunflower Weed Field Scenic Point is “slider field” which is a lawn slope down to the golf court in the front of the Botanical Garden’s scenic point. Wat Thum Inn Neramit Temple For the next place, we would like to introduce Wat Thum Inn Neramit temple. It’s located in Nasak sub – district. This temple is in the area of Thum Inn cave (Thum means cave). In the ancient time there was a hermit named “Inn” lived here. So local people call this cave “Thum Inn”. Because of its beauty, so it was named as Thum Inn Neramit. Later Luang Phoo Puang Kha Rum To came and lived here. He built a parsonage outside of the cave because he thought this was the peaceful place. Even it’s difficult to receive food offerings. He had lived in this place for 26 years, since 2522 -2549, Buddhist era. Inside of this cave is very beautiful. We can easily enter inside the cave to pay respect to the Buddha images. There are lights all the way and inside the cave. In this area is surrounding by lots of trees, makes this temple very shady and fresh cool air. Let’s tour around Mae Tha district The Attractions in Mae Tha District Wat Thum Phra Sabai Temple Wat Thum Phra Sabai temple is located in Nong Thoi village, Na Kroaw sub – district. It’s about 5 Kilometers away from downtown of Mae Ta district. Thum Phra Sabai cave is one beautiful cave of Lampang. Inside area of Wat Thum Phra Sabai temple has many smaller and bigger cave such as Thum Yen cave, Thum Jedy cave and Thum Phra Sabai cave. The temperature in the area of this temple is cool and shady from the trees. There are also a beautiful flowers garden and a natural pond. In the pond has so many kinds of fish. Thum Phra Sabai cave has electricity system that can turn on and turn off from outside and inside the cave. We can clearly see the beauty of stalactites and stalagmites. Wood- carving Village Next place we would like to recommend you to visit is woodcarving village. It’s another name of Moo Ban Kae Salak Mai Ban Look. It’s located in Ban Look village, Na Kroaw sub – district. Ban Look village is very famous and it’s a tourist learning place for wood- carving. People from here are very skillful, neat, delicate, and great techniques of woodcarving. Wood - carving works from Ban Look are outstanding and very pretty. Especially, animals shape, head part or whole body with 3D model size and real size. They are very strong which we can sit on and even only set them for display. Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan Temple Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan temple is a “must see” place of Mae Tha District. It’s located in the area of south west mountain range, Pha Tun Na Kroaw municipal sub – district. From this temple we can clearly see pretty views and scenery of Mae Tha district. In the early morning of winter season we can see the sea mist surrounding the lower areas. Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan temple is a very peaceful place. In May of every year, there is a sprinkle water ceremony to pay respect to the relic of the Buddha. This temple is also a new popular tourist attraction. To get there; it starts from the center city of Lampang by taking Mae Tha district route at Ban Fon junction heading to Mae Tha district. When you see a small street to enter Pha Tun village, you turn right and go straight to Pha Tun sub - district. There will be signposts to Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan temple on the way.
