INTRODUCTION

As a leading teacher education institute specializing in
Early Childhood and Special Education teacher training
programs, The Institute of Teacher Education Malay
Women Campus (IPG Kampus Perempuan Melayu Melaka)
held its first international symposium to provide a
showcase of academic and evidence-based innovation in
the field of children’s education. The symposium would also
serve as a bridge and networking platform among
educators and innovators to facilitate sharing of knowledge
and skills that are contextualized in 21st century
challenges and opportunities. Through interdisciplinary
engagement that frames the theme and sub-themes of
ISCE 2022, it is hoped that the outcomes of this
symposium would be reflected in the betterment of
educational practice, research and innovative initiatives in
the field of children’s education.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of ISCE 2022 are:

To facilitate opportunities for networking,
collaboration and exchange of ideas with experts in
evidence-based practice in the field of children’s
education.
To showcase research and practice-based
innovations in optimizing multidisciplinary in the
field of children’s education.
To share new initiatives, strategies and challenges in
achieving improved outcomes in the current context
of children’s education.

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Alhamdulillah, with Allah SWT's blessing the ISCE 2022 is held by the Institute of
Teacher Education Malay Women Campus in line with theme “Challenges in Today’s
Children’s Education”. It is indeed a noteworthy effort as the symposium provides a
platform for international and local researchers and innovators, educators and experts to
create dialogues on the education of children through research and innovations.

In this modern contemporary world, educating the alpha generation is indeed challenging.
Technology and digital advancement have created a generation who utilizes technology
and modern inventions in their daily lives. In Malaysia, the population of children under
the age of 12 is estimated about 9.8 million out of the estimated 32.7 million Malaysians
in the 2020 consensus. This made up about 28.3 percent of the whole population thus
indicating responsibility and the needs of our nation to provide essential education for
children as future young Malaysians who should be highly competent global citizens and
contributes to our nation’s building. Therefore, educating these young minds is not only
focusing on the basics of literacy skills but extending towards creative learning, artificial
intelligence and problem solving that adheres to the current global situation. They are the
generation who are raised in the era of pandemic challenges where the world is volatile,
uncertain, complex and ambiguous. More importantly, education today is more attuned
towards inclusive for all abilities and accommodating the ones with disabilities is given
utmost importance.

I would like to congratulate the Institute of Teacher Education Malay Women Campus for
successfully organizing the International Symposium on Child Education 2022. I would
also like to congratulate all the participants and presenters of research and innovation
from within and outside the country who have participated in ISCE 2022. It is my hope
that this symposium would benefit our professionalism as educators in the field of
children’s education.

Praise be to Allah SWT, for with His Grace, the Institute of Teacher Education Malay
Women Campus is able to organize ISCE 2022 . The theme is aptly in synchronized
with the current trend in children’s education field that is gaining momentum now. The
ISCE 2022 is held in the contention to provide a platform for all educators, researchers
and innovators to exchange ideas and showcase practice in the field of children’s
education.

As educators, we are accounted to ensure that education of the young ones is a
demanding and delicate tasks. Hence, providing a quality learning environment is
essential. Children must be educated in a supportive setting that supports their
physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual growth. We have to shift and redirect the
traditional method of educating the young ones and prepare them for the future . The
world that the next generation will grow up in will be radically different from anything
we have seen in the past. Our children today will grow up in a world filled with artificial
intelligence, genetic engineering and automation where digitalization is a norm.
Therefore, we have to ensure that they will be equipped with the necessary skills
needed which have to be provided in a clean, safe and conducive environment
optimally.

To all participants, researchers, innovators and speakers in ISCE 2022, I wish you all
the best and may you have insightful and meaningful discussion and sharing in this
symposium. Once again, congratulations to the ISCE 2022 organizer, Institute of
Teacher Education Malay Women campus for holding this symposium.

With the highest gratitude to Allah SWT, we are able to host the International Symposium
on Child Education (ISCE 2022). I want to express my appreciation and thanks to all the
ISCE 2022 Committee for their time and effort to ensure ISCE 2022 is held successfully.

The aims of ISCE 2022 is founded on the necessity to address inherent challenges and
opportunities that are faced by educators in the field of Early Childhood and Special
education. It is crucial for all of us to be aware of the gaps that need to be filled in the
delivery of educational services for children raised in today’s context. They are in need of
support in terms of ensuring their holistic growth are met accordingly. Educators in the
context of educational delivery have to be competent with the trending development of ICT
and to balance this by providing humanistic values.

ISCE 2022 is an initiative that has foreseen this direction and therefore it is organized to
bridge educators in the field of children’s education. I hope that with all the event and
activities delivered in this symposium, they would increase and enhance all the participants’
professional growth and trigger more research and innovative action plans and products.
We look forward to discuss and share ideas with everyone in this symposium.

I wish everyone would have meaningful experience and be fully engaged in ISCE 2022.
