ALL SAINTS KESGRAVE NEWSLETTER ISSUE NO 99 – 26.03.23 APRIL 2023 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY Spring is the season of new life. Plants emerge from the ground with green shoots and colourful flowers. Animals produce their young and birds lay eggs. New life is all around. Chocolate Easter eggs are that shape as a symbol of new life. For Christians, Easter is the most important time of the year. We celebrated Jesus birth at Christmas, but the baby grew, and Easter celebrates what he achieved as a grown man.

From the beginning God wanted humans – the pinnacle of His creation – to live in harmony with him and all humanity but repeatedly they opposed God and each other by fighting and following evil ways. Coming into the world and sharing human life enabled Jesus to demonstrate how to live God’s way. Through sharing God’s love and teaching others how to continue his teaching Jesus was despised by the leaders of his day. He was arrested, tortured and humiliated; eventually suffering degrading death by crucifixion. For Jesus death was not the end and on Easter Sunday we celebrate his resurrection from the dead. Through his sacrifice Jesus promises us new life after death. Surely that is something worth celebrating! Come and join us at All Saints at 10am Easter Sunday. Refreshments afterwards and chocolate eggs for children. HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL. Come and enjoy playing the old fashioned and some modern games such as Up-Words, Scrabble, Mexican Train, Uno, Rummikub and Scrabble. Jenny Billinge Secretary EXCITING UPDATE FROM ALL SAINTS LITTLE BEALINGS Easter Sunday is a day to celebrate, and this year we will celebrate the risen Christ with a church full of daffodils, the soft opening of our new hub cafe 'Absolutely Divine', and we hope you will join us for a

delightful afternoon tea. The church will be open 12-5pm and I believe there will even be a display of Easter gardens by the children. Wednesday 12th April sees our community hub launch with a host of exciting new 'meet-up' and wellbeing groups. Absolutely Divine will be in full swing with lemon drizzle cake, vegan chocolate cake, sausage rolls, freshly roasted coffee, healthy porridge topped with fresh fruits and honey, smashed avocado on sourdough - and oh yes, Bealings School, the milkshakes are back! The cafe will be open every Wednesday 10.30am to 4pm and the weekly groups are listed below. You are invited to pop in anytime, join a group, come with a friend, or simply come and see who's there; you will always receive a very warm welcome. During term time, The Borrowers may be in the church or in the churchyard with Ben from 3-3.45pm. 10.30am-12.30pm: 'Meet-Up Wednesdays'. Following the Meet-Up Mondays' tried and tested formula, we welcome you to join other people like yourselves. Just come along, and meet friends old and new. 1.15am-2.30pm: 'Pause'. This is a new ladies’ friendship and support group. Are you struggling with midlife, an empty nest, then maybe it’s time to pause. Pause for a chat, with understanding company, for a giggle, for a cake, to put your mind at rest as you connect with others going through the same midlife circumstances. Hopefully, we will find answers together, with friendship and support. As ever, it’s good to talk. Hoping to start in early May, we are looking for young people who would like to join a group for 18-28 year olds. This group, 18:28, will likely be held on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. Do you need to get out more, meet other young people socially face-to-face, but find it easier to stay at home gaming on your computer? We invite you to pizza, coffee or hot chocolate and a great game of Settlers of Catan! This is a group for you, we'll keep it to 12-16 people, and you can decide together how the group develops and what you'd like to do next.

Please email me if you would like to come along as we will launch as soon as we have 8 people, we currently have 5. For more information on any group or to volunteer at the hub cafe, please email churchwarden [email protected] We hope to see many of you soon. Wishing you all a very Happy Easter. If at any time you or someone you know are in need of prayer, we have an active prayer ministry who would love to pray for you. We believe that God answers all of our prayers, as he loves us dearly and knows just what we need. We have seen God work in so many different ways through the prayer ministry. Please do not hesitate to contact if you feel this can help. If your prayer request is urgent, contact our prayer chain by calling John Wittgreffe on 07857 838678 or email ask.prayer[email protected] specifying "Prayer Chain". If you have an ongoing request for prayer, each Wednesday a prayer request email goes out to ministers and faithful people who will include your request in their prayers on Wednesday, or as soon as possible thereafter. If you would like your prayer included, please use the same contact as above stating "For Wednesday prayers", or both Wednesday Prayers and Prayer Chain if appropriate. All information is considered private to those who take part in the prayers. If, however, you feel something is very sensitive, please mention this and we will make the prayers anonymous before they go out- God still knows who you mean!

If you would like private prayer with a minister, you can request this and we will work something out for you. If for any reason John is unavailable, please contact one of our ministry team as in our contacts list.
