This morning Erin spent a period of time playing
with the number bugs, taking them apart and
joining them together again. She then lined them
all up in numerical order 1 to 5. If she wasn't sure
on the number Erin counted the number of spots on
the bug. The only number she really struggled with
was zero. Following on from this, this afternoon, I
read a number book to Erin. At the end of each
page I paused, allowing Erin time to say which
number came next; she was able to recognise the
number at the top of each page. Clever Girl Erin!

This week as it is Mother's Day on Sunday we are
basing some of our activities around 'mummies and
babies'. This morning on the carpet we bathed our
dolls in the baby bath and used the sponges and
soapy water to make sure they were nice and clean.
Erin and Joel particularly enjoyed this activity
'I'm washing her face and hair' said Erin as she
rubbed the sponge on the dolls head, 'can I help?'
asked Joel. Erin moved over a little to make room
for Joel and they both enjoyed talking as they
bathed the doll together.

This afternoon I took a small group of children into
the office for a target practise game. Erin,
Hunter, Sophie and Zaki all took it in turns to
throw a ball into a bucket. Firstly we practised
with a small bucket; after they'd all had a turn
throwing a ball into it we used a bigger bucket. The
children all found the larger bucket easier to get
the ball in and they found that if they threw under
arm rather than over arm it was more likely to go
in.
Next Steps

After the Easter holidays, Erin was very excited
to tell us about what she got up to 'I've been to
London and Center Parcs, stayed in a holiday home.
Went to London with Aunty Sharon, Mummy,
Nanna, Isaac, Daddy and Grandad. When I woke up
in my London bed, I wanted my breakfast.'
Erin was asked what she enjoyed doing, 'playing in
the park, Cente Parcs, I was driving a car and was
swimming and at the park all day'.

When reading Erin's home liason book I read that
Erin was getting very good at writing her own name
whilst off over the Easter period. This afternoon I
provided Erin with opportunity to write her own
name with a pencil and paper. Erin picked up the
pen in her write hand and holding it near the point
between her thumb and two fingers started to
write her name. Clever Girl Erin!
