In the month of July, children enjoyed the 'Mirror Activity'

● Children visited the main school (DES) and were taken to the Amphitheatre
in the play area.

● In the Amphitheatre, children were made to face a life size mirror. On
seeing their own reflection children smiled and thoroughly enjoyed making
different facial expressions such as a happy face, sad face, angry face
and so on.

● They learnt to name a few body parts, and sang the rhyme 'Head
shoulders knees and toes’.

More or Less Activity:

 Children were taken to the activity room, at first a basket full of fruits and
vegetables were shown in comparison to a basket of lesser fruits and
vegetables.

 Then the same activity was repeated using various other objects.
 They were asked to identify the basket containing more or less objects.
 The same activity was reinforced in the class room with pencils, crayons,

chairs, etc.

My School – DES Campus

On 2nd August 2019.
Yet another visit to our home away from home, which is “Daffodils English
School” was planned.

 Children were shown, a huge playground, Administration Department,
Medical Bay, School library, AV room and Play area.

 Children interacted with their principal Mrs. Aparna Ramasheshiah,
Coordinator Mrs.Kusum Lokesh, members of the administration
department and Mrs. Veena from the Medical bay.

On 5th August 2019.
“Letter E activity”- E as in Eggplant
● Children sprinkled the shredded crepe paper on the picture of an Eggplant.

This activity helped children in developing eye-hand coordination and refined
their fine motor skills.

On 6th August 2019, 'Bead Activity' was conducted.
 Children were given beads and threads.
 Each child was asked to thread two beads only.
 Although it was a challenging activity, children accomplished it perfectly.
 The concept of number 2 was understood through visual counting of two beads.
 Number recognition and value counting was done simultaneously.

On 8th August 2019, Ethnic Day was celebrated grandly!
● Children learnt there is Unity in Diversity!!

On 12th August 2019, Children learnt about the festival Bakrid, through a
worksheet.

 Muslims all over the world celebrate this festival of sharing.

13th August 2019
● The “Letter F activity” was conducted.
● Children decorated the picture of a fish using sequins.
● The glitter of the sequins added to the child’s enthusiasm in participating.
● Flag activity was also conducted where each section was assigned a
colour and children painted strokes of standing/sleeping/slanting lines to
complete the National Flag.

On 19th August 2019
● The letter G activity was conducted for ‘G as in grapes'.
● Pista shells were pasted on the grapes picture.
● Children hand-picked the pista shells and placed it on the given picture to
attain an embossed effect.
● Here children were being observed if they could follow the directions and
work using their fine motor skills.

On 22nd August 2019 “Shri Krishna Janmashtami” - special assembly
programme was conducted.

● Girls as Radha and Boys as Krishna joined the Vrindavan at Daffodils
English School for the special assembly program, singing the song
“Radhe Radhe…….”.

On 26th August 2019 the “Letter H activity” was conducted.
● Children pasted hay on the pre-drawn picture of a Hut.

On 30th August 2019 “Little Hands Competition” was held.
● Participation is important!
● A Caterpillar picture, circular coloured paper, other strips of paper,
fevistick and crayons were distributed.
● Children had to tear the strips of coloured paper into bits before pasting it
on the caterpillar.

A message to parents:

With toddlers around, life is always interesting!
Children are great imitators, so give them something great to imitate.
