❖Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated on Friday,the 1st.
❖Code Decode – Inter School Competition was held on

Saturday,the 9th.
❖Hindi Debate Prelims were conducted on Monday, the

11th and Finals on Monday, the 18th.
❖Children’s Day celebrations and CCA Competitions

‘Hejje -2.0’ were held on Thursday,the 14th.

Cadence - Interschool Music Competition was organized by St.
Joseph's Boys High School on the 12th and 13th of November. Our
students from Grades 6 to 9 participated in Solo song competition,
Duet performance and Group song in Hindi, English and Kannada
category and won laurels.

Daffodalians celebrated 64th Kannada Rajyotsava differently
having a theme named ‘Prakrutipayanotsava’. Students exhibited
their talents in various programs. It also included short play on
‘Saalumarada Thimmakka’. Students went back home
empowered by the days learning.



Students from 9th and 10th Grades participated in the Hindi
Debate – Prelims on Monday, the 11th. Iris and Lily Houses
qualified for finals which was conducted on Monday, the 18th.
Iris House Students emerged winners.

Children’s day celebration in Daffodils English School was
energized and invigorated with the conduct of Hejje 2.0, The Inter
House CCA Competition for Senior and Junior Wings.

Series of competitions were held from Grades 1 to 10 from 11th
November. Fancy Dress, Solo Song, Solo Dance, Group Dance,
Mono Act, Sketch My Story, Mime, Rhythm Studio, Group Dance,
Group Song etc. were held. Magic Show was also organised for
the students of Grades 1 to 5.

After conducting a series of competitions, the teachers took over
the stage and entertained the students with their performance.
Events like, Skit, Group Dance and Group Song stole the show. In
all ways it was one of the most contemporaneous and memorable
day for students and teachers alike.













Mathematics Integrated with EVS…

Activity based on ‘Air has weight’ and ‘Air occupies space’.
Grade 1 students were asked to blow a balloon filled with air and
the other balloon filled with water. They were asked to
differentiate two balloons which were in their hands. One of them
flew and the other dropped down as it had weight. They enjoyed
the activity.

Another quick activity conducted for Grade 1 students in EVS.
Students enjoyed flying their paper planes across the classrooms
to understand the concept on AIR!

Grade 9 students of State Board got an opportunity to showcase
their creativity when they made these eye-catching wall hangings
as part of their art and craft activity for FA-3.

One of the most creative ways to learn is story telling. Students of
Grade 5 drew cartoons to tell a story in the subject English. The
story of a mountain and a Squirrel.

Grade 9 students had Science Seminar on one of the topics in
Physics, which was on Heat and Energy. Students represented
their slides through wonderful PowerPoint Presentations
detailing the concepts in an understandable manner.

Grade 9 students of State Board had a wonderful experience
knowing about the election system in detail.

Candidates were nominated who then chose a party name, symbol
and campaigned showcasing their creativity. All the other students
voted and were inked. There were ballot boxes and polling
officers. It made learning fun.

A Game of Treasure Hunt… Code Decode 2019!!

Code Decode, a Game of Treasure Hunt, an Inter-School event
for budding Computer Programmers was conducted at Daffodils
English School on Saturday, the 16th of November 2019.
Students from ten schools participated in what was an excellent
platform to judge their programming skills in the Java language.
The contest was organised by the ICT team at DES in association
with Achievers’ Hub.

All the participants were given certificates. ‘Carmel’ School
bagged the Champion Trophy – 2019. It was truly an excellent
opportunity for students of tenth grade to hone their skills in
programming.

Like rightly said in the above quote, students of Grade 5 were
found engrossed and involved in learning the whole new
information of widely used features of Internet in their new chapter
- Internet Services. Students made points and had plenty of curious
questions which showed their interest in the concept.

Microsoft Global Learning Connection…

Students of Grade 7 connected with students of Kamla Nehru
Public School, Phagwara. Both the teams had a Mystery Skype in
the beginning and later Kamla Nehru Public School students
briefed our students about the projects they have done using
Artificial Intelligence. It was a great learning experience...

Students of Grade 8 had a Guest Speaker - Mr. Dev Kumar Reddy,
Founder and MD of Future Organics. Mr. Dev explained the
relevance of organic food for good health.

Students of Grade 10 had an interactive session with Dr. Vinnie
Jauhari, Director - Education Advocacy - Microsoft on the topic
“Artificial Intelligence in Education”. It was an interesting
session wherein students understood how AI can be used in
education sector to improve the productivity of teachers and the
learning experiences for students.

❖ I Preparatory Exam for Grade 10 (ICSE) begins on
Monday, the 9th.

❖ I Preparatory Exam for Grade 10 (State Board) begins on
Friday, the 13th.

❖ PTM for Grades 9 & 10 (State Board) is scheduled on
Saturday, the 14th between 8.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.

❖ I Preparatory Exam for ICSE and State Board ends on
Friday, the 20th.

❖ Winter break commences from 21st December 2019 &
school reopens on 2nd January 2020.
