All Chamber functions were well attended, functional and presented excellent
opportunities for our membership to engage with the public and one another.
So many great things are happening in the City of Pasadena it would be
impossible to mention them all in this letter but rest assured the Pasadena
Chamber is involved in every aspect of the community and is committed to part-
nering with our city’s leaders as the opportunities arise.
Pasadena has a wonderful mix between residential, educational, retail,
industrial and cultural activities and is well positioned for development,
re-development and growth. City leaders are working on a strategic plan for re-
development of the older parts of the City. One thing is certain, the city is going
to redevelop and its best if a plan is in place to support that
re-development which will enhance the quality of life for our residents as well as
shining a spotlight on a City that’s supportive of business.
I look forward to serving as 2018 Chairman of the Board of the Chamber and if I
may be of any help or encouragement to you please ask.
The Best,

James Guthrie

A Letter From the President:

Welcome back members and friends!
It’s only February and your chamber is already busy planning for the many
spring events we have coming up!
It’s not too late if you haven’t secured your spot for our Annual State of the
City Membership Luncheon taking place in less than two weeks on
February 15th at the Pasadena Convention Center. Join us as we highlight
the many ways Pasadena is knocking it out of the park and announce the
2018 Business of the Year.
March 22nd should also be reserved to hear from Commissioner Jack
Morman in our annual State of the Precinct membership luncheon with
our regional chamber partners where you can network across more than
10 cities, 5 chambers, and 300+ businesses all under one roof.
Your chamber is committed to contributing towards the accomplishment
of any of your 2018 goals, so if its about health and fitness then save the
date for these 2 spring favorites:
Our 7th Annual Rugged Race obstacle course 5K on Saturday, April 7 helps Pasadena ISD students stay
socially, emotionally and physically healthy. Registrations and sponsorship opportunities are now available
online.
We are also in the early stages of planning our Annual Industrial Appreciation Golf Tournament taking place
Monday, May 14 at Timbercreek Golf Course. This annual fundraising event supports the overall work of the
Pasadena Chamber and highlights the impact that industry plays in our community as we honor the 2018
Industry of the Year partner. We are pleased to honor and recognize BASF Pasadena for their many
contributions to the city, school district, and community at large. Sponsorships are open, and as you have
seen in our communications already, it pays to commit early and promote your company leading all the way
up to the event!
Lastly, if staying organized is your resolution this year your chamber has developed a new tool that is sure
to help you manage all things chamber related. We know many of our member businesses plan their years
in advance, and we understand the importance of doing so to help stay on track. This year we are proud to
introduce to you our 2018 Sponsorship Opportunities toolkit enclosed in this month’s chambergram. This
packet contains all of the ways your business can be involved with the chamber this year. From sponsoring a
membership luncheon, fundraising event or even donating a door prize, this special tool covers every aspect
of your involvement at the chamber. Our goal for this tool was to help make the process easier for our
members to use and offers the advantages of extensive marketing services for those
companies who already know they plan to sponsor an event throughout the year to gain additional
publicity all year as opposed to just leading up to the event. Please contact our Director of Marketing and
Special Events, Suzette McDowell for details and more information.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and Staff, I would like to thank you for your investment in the Pasadena
Chamber of Commerce. I look forward to engaging with each of you this year and together achieving more.
Enjoy this month’s newsletter as we kick off 2018 and what is sure to be an exciting year!

Best Regards,

Cristina Womack

Platinum Partner
of the Month

In the short time the Frost San Jacinto
Financial Center has been open, it has already
made an impact in its community.

After making a monetary donation to Sarah’s
House, which provides emergency shelter and
assistance to homeless women and their
children, at the financial center’s official
opening, Frost bankers have followed up by
hosting financial literacy classes for the
patrons at Sarah’s House.

In addition, as Frost celebrates the 150th
anniversary of its founding in 1868, it will
continue giving back to the communities
where it does business through a series of
events centered on the theme of “150 Years of
Doing What’s Right, Right Here.” These events
include food drives in early February to
bolster food banks in all the regions where
Frost does business, and will take place
throughout 2018.

2018 Industry of the Year

Join us in Congratulating BASF Pasadena on being named
Pasadena Chamber’s 2018 Industry of the Year!
Industry is important to Pasadena and especially your
chamber. Not only do these valued neighbors provide
thousands of jobs for our residents, but they also provide a
strong tax base that helps to contribute to the overall
economic health of our region. Since 1995, the Pasadena
Chamber of Commerce has named an Industry of the Year
recipient to a company who exemplifies characteristics of
involvement in charitable organizations, community projects, places an emphasis on safety,
environmental and quality control standards and one that positively impacts the business
community.
We are pleased to announce BASF Pasadena as the 2018 Industry of the Year winner. Our
24th Annual Industrial Appreciation Golf Tournament and Luncheon will allow us to recognize
and honor BASF Pasadena as well as to say thank you and show support to all of our industry
partners.

Ambassador Spotlight - Sonja C. Williams

I have been the School Director for the Richard Milburn Academy –
Pasadena High School for 2 years. RMA-Pasadena is a new charter high
school in the area that specializes in providing students a high-quality,
personalized education so that students can graduate and pursue
college and career aspirations. RMA-Pasadena is the newest campus of
9 other RMA campuses across the state of Texas. In our second year of
existence, we are excited to continue welcoming new students and
families to our campus to learn more about the benefits of our
program.

As an Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce, I have become very
familiar with the Pasadena community and have had opportunities to
network with other new businesses throughout the area.
The Chamber’s leadership team and its members have been very helpful and encouraging since the
campus opened its doors in 2016. The Chamber is very proactive in finding ways for its members to
connect and grow their organizations and businesses. It’s a great organization to take advantage of if
you’re looking for ways to market your business throughout the Pasadena community. My team and I
are very grateful for the assistance and guidance the Chamber of Commerce has provided us in
opening a new school in the area. RMA – Pasadena looks forward to many more years as a Chamber
member and future opportunities to welcome additional members to the community.

Business Honor Roll

We applaud these individuals, organizations, and firms that have renewed their financial commitment to the
growth of our community through their continued investment in the chamber. We appreciate each and every
one of you. Congratulations on celebrating your anniversary this month!
