Chambergram 12 As a member of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, we want you to know that your voice matters! In late 2022, we held a breakfast meeting called CEO Circle, where we met with CEO’s, business owners and executive staff from our Diamond, Platinum and Gold membership. During this meeting, there was a common theme that kept getting brought up...workforce issues. Across all industries of business, our members are having a hard time attracting and retaining quality staff, and wanted to know what we could do to help. After this event, we decided to launch a Workforce Development committee to address this ongoing issue for our members. After only four meetings this year, our new committee has launched a webpage on our Pasadena Chamber website called “Workforce Center.” This webpage hosts a user friendly job board, resources for both job seekers and employers, and a lot more. We invite you to check out that webpage and share it across your networks so we can help Put Pasadena to Work! CLICK HERE to view the webpage.

Collective Impact is a framework used to bring community teams together to solve complex issues and design initiatives that move communities forward. We are excited to see what IMPACT this amazing group of leaders will make this this community. Thank you to our IMPACT Pasadena Sponsors: 22 Chambergram

Members and Friends, The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is seeking your input! The Board of Directors of the Pasadena Chamber sets the tone, policy and direction of the organization and, to a major extent, many directions for the community. Directors should value the mission: To promote economic development and community growth to ensure the prosperity of Pasadena’s businesses and citizens and purpose of the chamber to advocate and connect our community through serving and educating our members. Each year, new members are elected to the Board of Directors to serve for three year terms. The primary role as a Board member is (1) to contribute to the defining of the organization mission and vision, (2) governing the fulfillment of that mission and compliance with organizations bylaws, (3) providing oversight in policy and position statement development, and (4) maintaining fiduciary responsibility and awareness of the resources of the organization. The only eligibility requirements in the By-Laws for directors seeking a three-year term are that the person be a member in good standing (dues current) and not currently running for an elected office. Perhaps the most important unwritten criteria are leadership, good judgment, and a willingness to serve the membership through quality time and effort. Requirements that should be known and agreed upon by prospective candidates for the board are 1) commitment to attend the day-long retreat session each year; 2) mandatory service on at least one standing or event committee; 3) attend monthly meetings at 3:30pm on the 3rd Monday of each month (meetings normally last between 1½ to two hours in length, with a few going longer due to a heavy agenda). The By-Laws read that any director may be removed from the Board following three consecutive absences or fails to attend at least fifty percent of the regularly called meeting each year, but we urge directors to make every meeting possible. Perhaps the most important meeting of the year is the oneday retreat for the existing and incoming board and committee chairs. It is an excellent time to learn about the nuts and bolts of Chamber policies and activities, as well as to get to know other new and continuing directors on the Board. For a full description of Board responsibilities and code of conduct CLICK HERE. If you would like to nominate someone or yourself to serve in this capacity please complete the online application HERE no later than August 25, 2023. Following the deadline for applications, the Nominating Committee will meet to review and recommend the slate of directors for the current Board of Directors to approve in a subsequent board meeting. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Cristina directly at [email protected] or 281-487-7871 Thank you for your continued investment in the Pasadena Chamber and support in finding the next candidates to serve on the board.
